Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1812: The Only Regret
On the drive back, Ian Shelby did not tell his father about having found his sister.
He was calm and steady.
Bertie looked at the scenery outside the window, still wearing a smile on his face. This was where his son had lived for many years, and although it felt unfamiliar, he liked it very much.
This road had accompanied his son through countless days and nights...
"Father, how is your health? Are you well?"
"Very well, you need not worry about me," Bertie told him. "How did I perform today? Visiting personally to discuss the marriage arrangements, showing our attitude!"
Ian was very touched, as this was the proper procedure.
But since his father was in Lorelei, he had never insisted on it and had thought of explaining to his uncle and aunt.
Now it was fine, no explanation was needed, everything was perfect.
"Thank you, Father." He turned his gaze, a slight smile on his lips.
Ian took his father to his villa, introducing him to every room, including his frequently used pharmaceutical research room, studio, lounge, and gym...
So his father could better understand these years of his life.
Ian also narrated his daily routine to his father. Bertie felt he understood his son better and listened intently, filled with emotion.
"No matter what, health should always come first," his father said to him. "As a doctor, you should especially understand balance between work and rest."
"Yes."
After a tour of the villa, he brought him to the lounge, and Ian personally brewed a pot of tea for his father.
He always gave off an impression of modesty and courtesy.
The old father, gazing at the view outside, couldn’t help but reflect, "Everything is perfect, except for finding your sister. If she could attend your wedding with Jocelyn, your mother’s spirit in heaven would surely be comforted."
Especially when he saw the bright moon on the horizon, he felt a touch of melancholy.
Ian appeared very calm, saying, "We will find her. Heaven will favor good people and won’t let our lives be filled with regret."
He handed a cup of tea to his father, "Perhaps there is just a slight stroke of fate missing with my sister."
Bertie reached out to take it, "Is there any news about Annie?"
"No, but we are still searching at the moment," Ian told him, "I have a feeling that one day, she will be found."
"Hopefully," Bertie was not that hopeful though, considering so many years had passed...
He showed a smile, "Son, it’s no wonder you like this city so much. Riventhal is indeed nice. I was deeply attracted as soon as I got off the plane. It’s not only prosperous but also rich in culture, and the people here are very easy to get along with."
He couldn’t help but think of the girl he met at the bookstore today, who he had a great connection with, and there was no generation gap in their conversation.
"Does Taylor’s mother know you came to Riventhal?" Ian inquired.
"Yes, she insisted on sending a bodyguard with me, initially wanting to accompany me personally. She wanted to come along too," Bertie admitted, "but given her status, I thought it was unnecessary. Bringing a bodyguard seemed a bit pretentious, lacking sincerity."
He really considered everything thoughtfully.
Upon hearing this, Ian was even more impressed with Catherine, knowing she truly cared about his father.
"After you arrived safely, did you call her to report your safety?" Ian reminded him.
Bertie nodded, "I did." He knew his son now truly accepted Catherine from the heart.
