Chapter 583: Old Hall Master of the Azure Dragon Hall vs. Chief Chen of the Pill Hall

BOOM—

Amid the deafening roar, countless rock fragments shot out, peppering the area like rain.

At that same instant, the Little Chick streaked low across the ground. Its claws latched onto the Clawed Flood Dragon, plowing it across the earth and carving out a massive, riverbed-like trench. The trench was filled with flowing blood and shattered scales.

In a cry of pain, one of the Clawed Flood Dragons’ roars came to an abrupt halt.

The three-headed Clawed Flood Dragon made of wind and blood that had been in pursuit lost the support of its Demon Qi and collapsed into a pool of bloody water on the ground. With nothing to worry about from behind, the Little Chick’s ferocity surged, and it immediately revealed its nature as the natural enemy of all Flood Dragon Snake types.

Its massive beak slammed down.

“BANG!”

Scales flew everywhere. Amid the shower of blood, the crystalline fragments of a shattered eyeball could be seen.

“AWOOOO—”

The Clawed Flood Dragon was truly worthy of its lineage as a descendant of the Suan Yu.

Had it been an ordinary Golden Core-level Flood Dragon Snake, that single peck would have been instantly fatal. But this Clawed Flood Dragon’s Life Force was tenacious. As it let out a pitiful wail, its massive tail struggled to wrap around the Little Chick.

“Chen Che!”

Seeing this, Wen Yangxi felt his heart bleed.

He had spent more than a hundred years raising these two Clawed Flood Dragons. Thanks to their telepathic link, they were utterly fearless even when facing Demon Beasts of the Same Tier—or even their natural predators.

But now, one had been gravely wounded in this battle.

That one peck had shattered its eyeball and ruptured its vitals. Even if it recovered from its injuries, its chances of achieving Nascent Soul Formation would plummet. If that were to happen, the combined strength of this twin pair of Clawed Flood Dragons would drop by seventy percent.

Just as Wen Yangxi was fuming with shock and anger, Chen Che let out a soft laugh.

“Heh…”

“Instead of worrying about your Clawed Flood Dragons, you’d be better off worrying about yourself.”

Before his voice had even faded, Wen Yangxi felt the force of the Flying Swords shooting toward him suddenly multiply severalfold.

In an instant, the tips of seven or eight Flying Swords pierced through his barrier. The one that penetrated deepest sank in all the way to the hilt, leaving only its handle exposed.

“You!”

Wen Yangxi’s pupils contracted. His earlier confidence was gone, replaced by pure shock.

“You’re not a Sword Cultivator, so of course you don’t understand the true power of a Sword Cultivator’s Flying Swords.”

Chen Che spoke softly, but his actions didn’t pause for a moment.

He pressed his palms together, pushing his Divine Sense to its absolute limit. The Evil Eye Necklace on his chest seemed to come alive, glowing brightly. If anyone were to envelop Chen Che with their Divine Sense at this moment, they would find that the Fierce Eyes on his chest looked as if they had come to life, staring fixedly at Wen Yangxi.

Although these Fierce Eyes were only Tier Three High Grade, in Chen Che’s hands, their value was greater than even a Fourth-Grade Magical Artifact.

With his Divine Sense amplified by it, Chen Che could control a full seventy percent of his Sword Pill!

Moreover, although Wen Yangxi was old and experienced, the only Sword Cultivators he had ever encountered were of Dan Kongzi’s ilk. He had no idea that a Sword Cultivator’s true Weapon was the Sword Pill. The Flying Swords inside a Sword Box were all of different shapes and sizes, by no means a unified whole; they had varying strengths and weaknesses.

But the Sword Pill was different—it was a single, unified entity.

‘No matter how powerful a Golden Core True Master is, he might be able to block an assault from thirty, or even three hundred, Tier Three High Grade Flying Swords. But he could never block three thousand, thirty thousand, or three hundred thousand identical Flying Swords, each one without a single flaw…’

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

A series of tearing sounds echoed out as the dense swarm of Flying Swords pierced through the barrier. In the blink of an eye, the protective screen was riddled with cracks and on the verge of shattering.

With a final ‘CRACK,’ the Jade Flute suspended in mid-air exploded, turning into countless specks of green dust that scattered in the wind.

At the same time, the remaining Flying Swords rapidly converged into a tornado and blasted toward Wen Yangxi. But Wen Yangxi was, after all, a veteran Golden Core True Master. Even in this perilous moment, he had a countermeasure. He raised his hand and waved again, tossing out a Black-striped Snail shell.

The Snail Shell was only palm-sized, but as soon as it appeared, it began to radiate a brilliant Spiritual Light. Layer upon layer of light rippled outward as it instantly expanded to a size of two to three hundred zhang, enveloping the space around him.

This Snail Shell was an empty husk he had discovered on the seabed while traveling through the Black Tortoise Calm Sea; the snail inside had died of old age long ago.

As a Beast Master, Wen Yangxi rarely had to fight in person. Therefore, he had only performed a simple Sacrificial Refinement on this Snail Shell, leaving it as a half-finished Magical Artifact.

However, this half-finished Magical Artifact was even stronger than his previous Jade Flute.

CLANG CLANG CLANG—

Amid a shower of sparks, it managed to completely block the Flying Swords’ assault.

“BLAATT—”

Seeing this, Wen Yangxi’s son and grandson, who were assisting in the attack, blew fiercely into their Jade Flutes.

From the jagged mountain peak behind the three men, another oppressive black cloud of birds surged forth. Their multi-colored Feathers converged into a vibrant torrent, rushing toward Chen Che in a suicidal assault, attempting to buy Wen Yangxi more time.

By this time, however, the Little Chick had already finished pecking the grievously wounded Clawed Flood Dragon to death. Snatching the other Clawed Flood Dragon in one claw, it beat its wings and took to the air again.

Its massive wings whipped up a gale that, infused with its Demon Qi, transformed into a colossal cyan wave that crashed down upon the flock of birds. A dense series of explosions echoed as countless birds were turned to blood mist. Accompanied by scattered Feathers, a bizarre rain began to fall.

Within it, one could neither see nor hear anything more than a step away.

But this downpour was instantly torn apart by a hurricane, and the first thing to burst into Wen Yangxi’s view was, to his shock, the Little Chick.

“Take this!”

Wen Yangxi gritted his teeth, raised his hand, and quickly threw out a pale yellow Flood Dragon Tooth. The moment the Flood Dragon Tooth appeared, it shot out with a WHOOSH, striking like a bolt of lightning. But by then, the Little Chick, telepathically linked to Chen Che, had already tossed the other Clawed Flood Dragon forward as a Shield.

“KREEE—”

A piteous scream rang out. Pierced through by the Flood Dragon Tooth, the Clawed Flood Dragon went as limp as a rope and crashed to the ground.

Wen Yangxi was practically driven mad with rage.

‘If I hadn’t altered its trajectory at the last second, that Flood Dragon Tooth attack would have killed my own Clawed Flood Dragon!’ What was even harder for him to accept was that Chen Che, someone he had originally dismissed entirely, had actually inflicted such devastating losses upon him.
