Two Realms: I Will Become the Immortal Emperor
Chapter 582: Old Hall Master of Azure Dragon Hall VS Chief Chen of the Pill Hall
SPLATTER…
Blood fell like rain.
More Demon Beasts had died in the last hour than in the previous several hundred years in Chu State combined. Perhaps, after today, the name ‘Mountain of Ten Thousand Demons’ would be wiped from the memory of Chu State, replaced by the likes of Blood Mountain or Ghost Mountain…
But at this moment, no one could afford to think so far ahead.
The whole scene—from the moment the beast tide surged forth to the ensuing melee—seemed to stretch on for ages, but in reality, less than half the time it takes to drink a cup of tea had passed. Yet the level of danger and sheer brutality far surpassed the great battle in the canyons of Celestial Ghost Ridge and the defense of Primordial City.
This was especially true for those from Jinyun Valley.
They had stared death in the face several times already.
A battle of this scale and intensity would not drag on. Everyone fought with everything they had, because for every wasted second, hundreds, even thousands, would die. Even if you wanted to hold back, your opponent would force you to go all out.
And such was Chen Che’s situation now.
The ambush on the Spiritual Boat was not Chen Che’s fault. Rather, every Cultivator, including those from the Primordial Sect and the Star-Picking Sect, had underestimated the scale of the Mist Rain Tower’s deployment: three of their main Halls, plus more than a dozen smaller ones.
A force of this magnitude could have easily fought its way to the foot of the Primordial Sect’s mountain, even without the Star-Picking Sect’s aid.
The Azure Dragon Hall, for its part, was the second-largest Hall in the Mist Rain Tower, and its Hall Master, Wen Yangxi, was the sworn brother of the Old Tower Master. Though he had reached the ripe old age of 720, his strength was far beyond that of someone like Zhao Yunchen, the master of the Hong Alliance.
The moment he struck, he displayed absolute, crushing power, giving Chen Che no chance to even get airborne.
A three-headed Clawed Flood Dragon, conjured from blood and hurricane-force winds, bit down on both of the Little Chick’s wings. Its spectral fangs pierced straight through the bones. Had the Little Chick not consumed an Illusion Beast Fruit, that single strike would have shattered its wings—
After all, these Clawed Flood Dragons were the equivalent of Great Demons at the Golden Core Ninth Layer!
Otherwise, how could Wen Yangxi, who had not made a public appearance in a century, still possess such a terrifying reputation?
ROAR!
The last of the Flood Dragon Heads, writhing amidst blood and wind, flared its gill-like bone spurs and dove. Its gaping maw was so enormous that it made the hundred-zhang-tall Little Chick look as small as a hen in the coils of a python.
To say nothing of Chen Che on its back!
Any Golden Core Cultivators who wanted to rush to the rescue were blocked, unable to even leave the Spiritual Boat, let alone advance a single step. They could only watch helplessly from afar. Beneath that colossal head, Chen Che looked like a praying mantis facing a landslide, about to be effortlessly crushed in the next instant.
It was at this precise moment that Chen Che raised his hand, two fingers held together. A Sword Pill shot out, hovering between them. Countless fine, symmetrical cracks appeared on the previously flawless surface of the Sword Pill. As if a precision instrument were dismantling itself, innumerable tiny, glowing swords flew out from within.
ZWEENG!
An explosive ring of sound.
In the next instant, an imperious sword-song echoed from the mountaintop.
BOOM—
Chen Che clenched his fist. The countless tiny swords instantly converged into a single torrent. As he raised his arm and swung it down, he brought the sword down from above in a motion as clean as drawing a blade to part water.
“Sever!”
The sheer power of this strike was beyond anything the assembled Golden Core Cultivators could have imagined.
They only saw Chen Che raise his arm, and in that instant, it seemed as if the very world before them was being split in two by his sword.
As the blade’s edge passed, their very vision seemed to shear apart.
For a brief moment, the only thing reflected in the depths of everyone’s eyes was a single, supremely brilliant silver light. This silver radiance stretched from the heavens to the earth, meeting no resistance as it shot out for dozens of miles in the blink of an eye.
The colossal head, lunging down to bite, was shredded in an instant.
CRACK—
Its structure destroyed, the massive head instantly dissipated in mid-air.
At the same time.
Wherever the blade’s edge passed, a perfect vacuum was carved through the endless beast horde—a corridor of emptiness that extended directly to Wen Yangxi.
“How interesting!”
Watching the Sword Aura bear down on him, a flicker of surprise showed in Wen Yangxi’s eyes, but he was utterly fearless. He even chuckled. “Your Swordsmanship is a great deal stronger than those two brothers, Dan Xuanzi and Dan Kongzi. Among all those who serve the Primordial Sect, your Swordsmanship must be number one!”
“Unfortunately for you, you’ve met me!”
As he spoke, he slowly raised the Jade Flute in his hand and pointed it forward. The winds swirled, forming into a series of Kite-shaped Square Shields that rapidly assembled before him.
Age had its advantages.
Wen Yangxi was not a Sword Cultivator, but his great age had afforded him vast experience. He was familiar with the methods of many different sects and schools. Sword Cultivators were masters of destruction, but they were not invincible.
At least, he himself was confident of that.
However, even as he spoke, the arc of Sword Aura that swept toward him like a harvest moon did not crash against his shield as he expected. Instead, it twisted like a Flood Dragon Snake, abruptly bypassed the barrier, and in a flash, had completely encircled him.
Countless Flying Swords hung suspended in the air, emitting a soft, shimmering light, like the rings encircling a star.
“My thanks for the compliment!”
Chen Che’s eyes narrowed. At the same time, he clenched his fist.
BOOM—
The sky full of Flying Swords instantly converged on Wen Yangxi, collapsing inward like a tornado. Each blade shot forth trailing an iridescent light, and with every rush, each sword was like a shooting star in the night sky—an absolutely indomitable sight.
Wen Yangxi let out a cry of alarm. He tossed his Jade Flute into the air, and the direction of the wind suddenly reversed.
The Wind Shield that had only covered his front was instantly supplemented by the Jade Flute, which erupted in a brilliant cyan light, forming a complete, spherical Shield.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The Flying Swords hammered against the Shield, kicking up a storm of brilliant sparks.
SCREEE—
As Chen Che counterattacked, the Little Chick wrenched its giant wings.
With a sickening sound of tearing muscle and snapping bone, it traded wound for wound, ripping itself free from the two dragon heads. Ignoring the blood gushing from the massive gashes, it plummeted toward the ground like a comet striking the earth.
