Chapter 300: Chapter 300: Since You Wish to Die, Then I’ll Send You on Your Way

After a long moment, Wei Tong finally processed the situation. He said hastily, "Ah, so you’re one of the princess’s sisters! My apologies for the misunderstanding. I’ll take my leave!"

"You’re not going anywhere!" Long Xi’Er snorted coldly. With a flick of her wrist, a small handgun was already pointed at Wei Tong.

With these incidents happening one after another, Long Xi’Er was absolutely livid.

Today, she was going to kill.

Feeling Long Xi’Er’s undisguised killing intent, Wei Tong’s face went pale. He shrieked, "I’m telling you, I belong to Her Majesty, the Empress! I came here to kill today under her orders! If you dare to kill me, the Empress will absolutely not stand for it...!"

But the moment the words left his mouth, Long Xi’Er pulled the trigger.

There was a muffled CRACK. A hole was blown clean through Wei Tong’s head. His body fell backward, twitched for a moment, and then went still.

Beside them, Xiao Yufei stared at the princess, her face pale as she spoke. "Princess, he said he belonged to Her Majesty, the Empress... and you killed him. Haven’t you just made an enemy of the Empress?!"

Long Xi’Er replied calmly, "I don’t care who he was. I only know that while Ye Feng is away, it’s my responsibility to protect his loved ones from all harm."

The other girls looked at the princess, their eyes filled with gratitude. Any previous animosity they held toward her vanished in an instant.

The princess looked at the girls. "Sisters, come with me to the Princess’s Mansion. I will protect you until Ye Feng returns!"

The girls nodded and immediately followed Long Xi’Er, heading for the Princess’s Mansion.

...

In the Eastern Palace of the Imperial Palace, the Empress sat in the seat of honor, leisurely sipping her tea.

But just then, Sun Hao entered, knelt on the ground, and spoke respectfully:

"This humble minister greets Your Majesty!"

The Empress set down her teacup. Looking at Sun Hao, she said with utter confidence, "You’ve brought back the head of that bitch, Su Youning, haven’t you?"

But Sun Hao, his face a mask of misery, replied, "Your Majesty, I have not!"

"Hm?" The Empress’s brow furrowed. "You can’t even deal with a single ant? What use are you to me?"

Feeling the Empress’s killing intent, Sun Hao’s face went white. He quickly cried out, "Your Majesty, please allow me to explain! The princess interfered and ruined everything...!"

He quickly recounted what had happened.

Just then, Zhao Yu entered. He looked at the Empress and said resentfully, "Your Majesty, I faced the same situation..."

The Empress’s expression was already dark as storm clouds. But in the next moment, a steward ran in, panicked. His face was pale as he announced, "Your Majesty! The Minister of War, Lord Wei Tong... he was shot in the head by the princess! He’s dead!"

SLAP! The Empress slammed her palm on the table, roaring in fury, "Insolence! How audacious!"

Sun Hao quickly spoke up. "Your Majesty, she is the princess, after all. Can you really make a move against her?"

The Empress was about to speak when her phone began to ring sharply. She answered, listened for a moment, then hung up. A cold, knowing sneer spread across her face.

"The princess, you say? Well, she won’t be for much longer!"

With that, she rose and strode outside, her imperious voice echoing behind her:

"Soon, I will be the one in charge of the Great Xia Empire! You all will be reinstated to your former positions. Just wait for my good news!"

Having said her piece, she walked straight out.

Hearing this, Sun Hao and Zhao Yu understood immediately. Their eyes lit up, and they called out excitedly, "We shall await Her Majesty the Empress’s—no, we shall await Your Majesty’s triumphant news!"

...

「Imperial Palace」

「Hall of Mental Cultivation」

Long Ao was sitting on the Dragon Throne, drinking tea, when Long Xi’Er strode in. She looked at him and asked urgently,

"Father, is there any news about Ye Feng?"

Seeing how anxious she was, Long Ao set down his teacup and smiled. "And here I thought you came to see your dear father. Turns out you’re just here for news about Ye Feng! I thought you didn’t like him? Why so concerned now?"

"Oh, Father! I was just asking!"

Long Xi’Er said in a wheedling tone. She went to Long Ao’s side and began rubbing his shoulders. "Come on, tell me," she urged. "I heard a rumor that something happened to Ye Feng. You have to tell me, is it true?!"

The words had barely left Long Xi’Er’s mouth when a woman’s voice rang out from the entrance:

"There’s no need to ask. I have already received definitive news. He is never coming back."

Following the voice, a middle-aged woman adorned in a phoenix coronet and embroidered robes walked into the Hall of Mental Cultivation. It was the Empress.

"You... You’re lying!" Long Xi’Er yelled, staring at the Empress.

The Empress looked at Long Xi’Er and chuckled. "Oh, but I’m not lying. Ye Feng really is never coming back."

She walked over to a nearby brocade stool and sat down. Then, looking at Long Xi’Er with a small smile, she said, "But you needn’t worry about being unmarriageable. His Highness the Prince of the Yin Country is quite taken with you, and I have already accepted his proposal on your behalf!"

Long Xi’Er glared at the Empress and shouted in a rage, "My marriage is none of your concern! I will not marry some so-called Prince of the Yin Country!"

The Empress just chuckled at Long Xi’Er. "And do you think you have any say in the matter?"

"You..." Long Xi’Er was speechless with rage. But Long Ao held her back, turning to the Empress to say calmly,

"Then what about me? Do my words count?"

The Empress looked at Long Ao and began to laugh, a laugh laced with undisguised contempt. "And what if I were to say that your words don’t count, either?"

A cold glint flashed in Long Ao’s eyes.

Long Xi’Er looked at Long Ao and said angrily, "Father! You gave an order that no one was to harm Ye Feng’s family, yet she sent people to kill them!"

Long Ao looked at the Empress and spoke calmly. "I’ve already investigated the Imperial Physicians. My conclusion is that you ordered them to poison me. Do you admit it?"

The Empress paused for a second, then smiled. "I’m not surprised you figured that out."

Long Ao looked at the Empress, his voice still calm. "Aren’t you going to explain yourself?"

The Empress was still smiling. "Explain what? Isn’t it obvious? I want to take you down and replace you, of course!"

Long Ao looked at the Empress and sighed. "Wu Xiu, I, Long Ao, have always treated you well. Why are you doing this to me?"

The Empress chuckled. "Why did Wu Zetian want to be emperor? It’s the same reason for me. No matter how well you treat me, it’s nothing compared to holding power in my own hands!"

Long Ao looked back at the Empress and chuckled as well. "Don’t think that just because I’ve favored you, I won’t touch you. If you’re so eager to die, then I’ll be happy to oblige!"

With that, he barked toward the outside, "Guards!"

But from outside, there was no response.

"Guards!"

"Guards!"

"Guards!"

Long Ao’s voice rose, but there was still no answer from outside.

The Empress spoke in a lazy drawl. "Your shouting is useless. Allow me. Guards!"

The moment the Empress spoke, a large group of men stormed in from outside.

The Empress looked at Long Ao and smiled faintly. "Now that I’m here, did you really think your guards would still be in any condition to respond?"

Long Xi’Er stared at the Empress, her fury erupting. "You’re trying to usurp the throne! You deserve to die!"
