Chapter 306: Chapter 306: Annihilating a Clan, I Can Do That Too
The Ministry of Justice Minister’s Estate,
The entire estate was festooned with lanterns and colorful banners, suffused with a joyous atmosphere.
Today was the joyous occasion of the eightieth birthday of Zhao Yu, the Minister of Justice’s, elderly mother. Furthermore, the Empress had promised to entrust him with great responsibilities after this day. Most importantly, Ye Feng and all his supporters were set to be utterly wiped out.
For Zhao Yu, it was a triple blessing.
Zhao Yu was ecstatic, and he had organized the eightieth birthday banquet on a magnificent scale.
Nearly every major figure in the Imperial Capital had received an invitation, and they arrived in droves.
"Liu Biao of the Elephant Financial Group presents a pair of imperial green jadeite Ruyi scepters! May the esteemed matriarch’s wishes all come true and may she enjoy robust health!"
Zhao Yu smiled and nodded. "Thank you, President Liu. Please, take your seat."
"Chairman Sun Song of the Merchant’s Association presents a Money Mountain sculpture worth ten million! May the esteemed matriarch’s life be as eternal as the southern mountains!"
"Thank you, Chairman Sun. Please, have a seat."
"Minister of Rites Zhang Yun presents a ’Pines and Cranes’ painting by Zhu Xuanxian! May the esteemed matriarch live as long as the un-aging pines of the southern mountains!"
...
The major figures continued to come forward, offering their congratulations and gifts. The atmosphere was lively and auspicious. In the seat of honor, an old woman with wrinkled skin and silver hair was grinning from ear to ear.
But just then, a clear voice rang out from outside. "I have brought a coffin! May the old hag ascend to the heavens at her earliest convenience!"
As the voice faded, a massive object flew directly into the main hall and crashed to the floor.
A loud CRASH sent dust billowing into the air.
When the dust settled, everyone stared. In the next instant, the color drained from their faces.
There, a plain, unpainted wooden coffin lay in the center of the hall, a jarring and offensive sight.
The old woman in the seat of honor couldn’t bear the immense shock. She let out a bloodcurdling scream, her eyes rolled back into her head, and she collapsed, unconscious.
Zhao Yu frantically called for help, but the old woman never stirred again. She had literally been angered to death.
BOOM!
Everyone present was instantly stunned.
To send a coffin to a birthday celebration was more than a simple provocation—it was tantamount to grinding Zhao Yu’s face into the dirt. Who could possibly be so audacious?
"Who is it? Who?!" Zhao Yu whirled around to face the entrance, his eyes bloodshot as he roared.
"Ye Feng of the Ye family!" As the words echoed, a young man strolled casually into view.
At the sight of Ye Feng, Zhao Yu’s pupils constricted. He gasped, "You... you’re not dead?"
Ye Feng replied calmly, "Thanks to you, I’m doing just fine."
Zhao Yu’s face turned ashen. "Ye Feng! To cause a scene during my mother’s eightieth birthday celebration and anger her to death... you have some nerve!"
Ye Feng chuckled. "Dead? Good. The sooner she dies, the sooner she can be reborn. It’ll keep the family line young!"
"You..." Zhao Yu trembled with rage.
But Ye Feng just looked at him, rapped his knuckles on the nearby coffin, and landed another brutal verbal blow:
"See this? This coffin is quite large. It won’t just hold that old thing—it’s big enough for the heads of everyone in your Zhao family!"
Zhao Yu exploded with rage. "Ye Feng, the only reason you’re so arrogant is because you’re relying on that bitch, Long Xi’Er, isn’t it? Well, let me tell you, you can’t count on her anymore! She’s about to be finished.
"From now on, the one truly in power in the Great Xia Empire will be my patron, Her Majesty the Empress! It won’t be the Zhao family that is annihilated. It will be you! Your Ye family will be utterly destroyed!"
Ye Feng looked at Zhao Yu and sighed. "The great Minister of Justice, and yet your information is so poor? Don’t you know? I’ve already killed that bitch, Wu Xiu, with a single strike."
"You’re full of shit! How could Her Majesty the Empress possibly be harmed by an ant like you...?" Flustered and enraged, Zhao Yu couldn’t stop himself from cursing.
But before he could finish, an elderly man stumbled in from outside in a panic. Looking at Zhao Yu, he stammered:
"My lord, reporting! Her Majesty the Empress has been slain! The Emperor has regained full control of the situation!"
BOOM!
Those words were like a bomb exploding in the hall. Everyone stood frozen, dumbstruck. ’The Empress... slain by someone?’
Zhao Yu looked as if he’d been struck by a club, and he staggered violently.
Ye Feng grinned at him. "Do you believe me now?"
Zhao Yu stared blankly at Ye Feng, his face turning as white as a sheet.
’The Empress is finished. The Emperor is back in control. As the imperial son-in-law, Ye Feng is now like a fish in water, isn’t he?’
Snapping back to his senses, Zhao Yu swallowed hard and forced a smile as he spoke to Ye Feng:
"Lord Son-in-Law, our grievances aren’t that serious, are they? Why must we meet with weapons drawn?"
Ye Feng looked at Zhao Yu and chuckled. "We had a grievance the moment you thought about harming my family. The moment you made a move against them, the Zhao family’s fate was sealed. And that fate is:
Total annihilation!"
As his words fell, a vast killing intent instantly filled the air, and the temperature in the hall seemed to plummet.
Feeling Ye Feng’s unconcealed killing intent, Zhao Yu shrieked:
"I, Zhao Yu, am one of the Nine Chief Ministers of the Six Ministries, a high official of the imperial court! What right do you have to kill me?"
Ye Feng smiled faintly, produced an Imperial Edict Sword, and brandished it at Zhao Yu. "I don’t have the right? Then what about this?"
The moment Zhao Yu saw it, he shrieked, "The Imperial Edict Sword!"
His face turned deathly pale.
The appearance of the Imperial Edict Sword was like the Emperor himself arriving. With it, one could even execute imperial nobles at will, let alone a mere court official like him.
Zhao Yu finally broke. He bowed deeply to Ye Feng and began to plead. "Lord Son-in-Law, it was I, Zhao Yu, who was reckless. I have offended you. I apologize, and I swear I will never dare to challenge your authority or provoke your family ever again!"
Ye Feng chuckled. "I already gave the Zhao family a chance. It’s a shame you didn’t cherish it. You just had to go after my family!
"Don’t you understand? The moment you made a move against them, your fate was sealed. The fate of the entire Zhao family was sealed!"
He then roared, "Men!"
"Here!" Ouyang Nan stepped forward at once.
Ye Feng’s voice was cold as ice. "Everyone in the Zhao family. Kill them all for me. Today, I will fill this coffin with their heads!"
"Yes, sir!" With a wave of his hand, Ouyang Nan led the men of the Dragon King Pavilion into the Zhao estate, hacking and slashing at everyone they encountered, killing on sight.
The entire Zhao estate was filled with bloodcurdling screams. Severed limbs flew through the air as blood flowed in rivers. In an instant, the once-joyous residence had been transformed into an Asura’s hell.
Zhao Yu dropped to his knees with a THUD and began kowtowing repeatedly before Ye Feng. He cried and begged, "Lord Son-in-Law, I was wrong! I beg you, spare the Zhao family! Please! I’m kowtowing to you!"
He slammed his head against the floor—THUD, THUD, THUD. His forehead split open and blood streamed down his face, but he didn’t dare stop.
Ye Feng bent down, looking at Zhao Yu, and spoke calmly. "Weren’t you always the one clamoring to exterminate nine generations of a clan? Today, I’ll let you have a taste of it yourself. Alright, enough chatter. I’ll send you on your way now."
With a flick of his wrist, he plunged his longsword straight into Zhao Yu’s heart.
Zhao Yu let out a final, piercing shriek as his expression went vacant. He slowly collapsed to the ground, twitched for a moment, and then moved no more.
Just then, Ouyang Nan and his men rushed back in, drenched in blood. He addressed Ye Feng respectfully, "Young Pavilion Master, all eighty-one members of the Zhao family have been eliminated!"
Everyone still alive in the hall stared at Ye Feng, their scalps tingling with terror.
’Over eighty people... eighty-one people, slaughtered by Ye Feng as if they were stray animals. This... this is too ruthless!’
As the guests looked at Ye Feng, their eyes were filled with nothing but absolute terror.
