Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Take a Good Look at Who I Am

"You killed the company’s security guards?" Mu Qingyun asked, her pupils constricting as she stared at the old man.

The old man nodded and chuckled. "Come with me. Someone wants to see you."

"And what if we refuse?" Feng Qingwu asked coldly, looking at the old man.

The old man chuckled. "Do you really think you have a choice?"

The old man had barely finished speaking when Chen Yun’Er cut in coldly, "And what if I think we do?"

As she spoke, she raised her pistol and aimed it at the old man.

The old man turned to look at the pistol in Chen Yun’Er’s hand and chuckled. "Chen Yun’Er, leader of the Dragon Group. You can act high and mighty in front of others, but in front of me, you’re nothing."

With that, he vanished, reappearing directly in front of Chen Yun’Er.

"Go to hell!" Chen Yun’Er roared, pulling the trigger.

BANG! A muffled shot rang out as a bullet streaked toward the space between the old man’s eyes.

At this range, Chen Yun’Er was completely confident she could put a hole straight through the old man’s forehead.

But what happened next made her pupils constrict in shock.

She could only watch as the old man extended his index and middle fingers and, with a sudden pinch, caught the bullet as effortlessly as swatting a fly.

The old man looked at Chen Yun’Er and chuckled. "I told you. You’re helpless against me."

Behind them, Mu Qingyun and Feng Qingwu’s brows were also knitted tightly.

’Even bullets are useless against this fiend. Who could possibly stop him? Are none of us going to escape his grasp today?’

But just as despair threatened to consume them, a cold voice rang out from the doorway. "She may be helpless against you, but what about me?"

Following the voice, two stunningly beautiful women walked into the room.

The old man spun to face the newcomers and began to snarl, "Who the hell do you think you—"

But he trailed off as he recognized one of them. His expression changed in an instant. "Princess."

The newcomer was none other than the princess of the Great Xia Empire, Long Xi’Er.

The old man quickly recovered, hurrying forward a few steps to stand before Long Xi’Er. He bowed deeply. "I was blind not to recognize Your Highness. Please forgive my earlier offense."

Long Xi’Er stared at him and said coldly, "And what if I have no intention of forgiving you?"

The moment she finished speaking, a dagger appeared in her hand and plunged into the old man’s chest.

The old man let out a bloodcurdling scream and staggered backward. He clutched at his chest, but blood gushed ceaselessly from between his fingers.

In a flash, Long Xi’Er was before him again. She drove the dagger into his body a second time and stared at him coldly. "You dare have designs on my sisters? You must be tired of living!"

The old man looked at Long Xi’Er, trying to speak, but in the next moment, his body went limp. He twitched a few times, then fell still.

At that moment, Chen Yun’Er, Mu Qingyun, and Feng Qingwu came before Long Xi’Er. They bowed in unison and said gratefully, "Thank you for saving us, Princess."

Long Xi’Er quickly helped the three women up. "Sisters, we’re all on the same side," she said urgently. "There’s no need for formalities."

Mu Qingyun looked at Long Xi’Er and gestured toward the old man on the floor, frowning. "Princess, who was that? Why did he want to kill us?"

Long Xi’Er looked at Mu Qingyun and said, "I don’t know yet, but I’ll have someone investigate. The most important thing right now is your safety. Come back with me to the Consort’s Manor. It’s safer there."

The three women nodded and left Cyan Cloud Group with Long Xi’Er, heading for the Consort’s Manor.

...

「Meanwhile, at the Hundred Flowers Building in the Imperial Capital.」

In the general manager’s office, a young woman stood at the window, staring blankly outside.

She was Qin Nuannuan, the general manager of the Hundred Flowers Building.

Just then, the door was pushed open, followed by the sound of footsteps.

Qin Nuannuan’s eyes lit up. She spun around and cried out excitedly, "Young Master, you’re back!"

But before the words were even out of her mouth, her brow furrowed.

The person standing before her wasn’t Ye Feng, but a one-armed old man dressed in black.

"Who are you? Who let you in!"

Qin Nuannuan’s expression hardened as she demanded coldly.

The old man looked at Qin Nuannuan and chuckled. "I am He Yunqiang!"

"You’re one of the Eight Hegemons of the Imperial Capital?!" Qin Nuannuan’s pupils constricted at the name.

She had been in the Imperial Capital long enough that, even though she had never met Hao Yunqiang, she certainly knew the name.

The old man—Hao Yunqiang—chuckled. "It seems you know who I am. That makes things simple. Come with me. There’s no need for any pointless resistance."

Qin Nuannuan looked at Hao Yunqiang, her expression turning icy. "And what if... I don’t want to go with you?"

The old man chuckled. "Unfortunately, it’s not up to you anymore."

With that, he vanished, reappearing in front of Qin Nuannuan. He raised his right hand and chopped the back of her neck.

Qin Nuannuan’s head lolled to one side as she fell unconscious.

Hao Yunqiang caught her by her slender waist, walked to the window, pushed it open, and jumped out, quickly vanishing from sight.

...

By this time, Long Xi’Er and her party had returned to the Consort’s Manor.

Long Xi’Er breathed a long sigh of relief when she saw that Su Youning had also been brought over safely.

She looked at the other women, her expression grave. "Until we find the mastermind behind all this, everyone should stay here at the Consort’s Manor. It’s safer, after all."

The women all nodded in agreement.

...

「Meanwhile, outside the Consort’s Manor.」

A group of men in black appeared out of nowhere and charged toward the manor.

The guards at the gate immediately raised their rifles, aiming them at the men in black. "The Consort’s Manor is off-limits!" one shouted. "Fall back now or we will use lethal force!"

But before the guards had even finished speaking, several of the men in black flicked their wrists. With flashes of cold light, the foreheads of the hundred or so guards at the gate were all pierced through.

All of the guards collapsed to the ground, dead.

One of the men in black sneered, "Did you ants really think you could stop us? You were tired of living!"

With that, the group of men in black continued their charge toward the Consort’s Manor.

But just as they reached the gates, another group of people surged out to meet them.

These men were all wearing uniform yellow jackets—they were the Imperial Household Guard.

The commander of the Guard stared at the men in black. "You dare cause trouble at the Consort’s Manor?" he said coldly. "You must have a death wish."

With that, he led his men in a charge against the intruders, and the two sides clashed violently.

In an instant, the air was filled with the flash of blades, the spray of blood, and the thunderous roar of battle.

But the men in black were clearly far more skilled. The Imperial Household Guard was being steadily pushed back, on the verge of collapse.

Just then, another force charged out from the Consort’s Manor.

Their leader was none other than Ouyang Nan.

Behind him were the forces of the Dragon King Pavilion.

Ouyang Nan roared, "Commander, I’m here to help!"

With that, he plunged into the fray.

In the brutal melee that followed, the Guard commander failed to dodge in time and was decapitated. Ouyang Nan, too, was gravely wounded in a single blow from a tall man in black.

The men in black didn’t linger, resuming their charge into the Consort’s Manor.

But they had not gone far before they saw an old man standing in their path, his hands clasped behind his back, as immovable as a mountain.

Without turning his head, he spoke. "This road... is closed."

The tall man in black looked at the old man and asked coldly, "Who goes there?"

The old man slowly turned to face the tall man in black and said calmly, "You. Take a good look and see who I am."
