Chapter 457: Chapter 456: This Second Uncle Is Not Simple
Seeing how unreasonable Ye Chong was, Su Mei’s expression darkened, and she was about to lash out. Ye Tianwen quickly stopped her. He looked at Ye Chong with a smile and said, "Child, I’m not here to covet the family fortune. After being away for ten years, I just want to come back and see my family!"
"Cut the sweet talk. ’Want to see my family’? Aren’t you just trying to squeeze your way back in and fight me for the inheritance? Let me tell you, don’t even think about it!"
Ye Tianwen’s brows furrowed instantly. Standing behind him, Ye Feng could no longer hold back. He took a step forward, looked at Ye Chong, and let out a cold laugh. "Covet your Ye family fortune? Is your fortune really that great?"
Hearing the aggression in Ye Feng’s tone, Ye Chong stared at him, frowned, and said, "And who are you?"
Ye Tianwen quickly explained, "This is my son, and your older brother!"
Upon hearing this, Ye Chong let out a cold sneer. "So you even brought your son back. Isn’t this just another attempt to fight me for the family fortune?"
At this, Long Xi’Er, who was standing in the back, could no longer contain herself. She stepped forward, looked at Ye Chong, and chuckled. "Is your Ye family very rich? How does it compare to my Great Xia Empire?"
"And who might you be?" Seeing Long Xi’Er’s extraordinary presence, Ye Chong didn’t dare to be presumptuous and asked with confusion.
"Princess of the Great Xia Empire, Long Xi’Er," she stated calmly.
"You’re the princess of the Great Xia Empire!" Ye Chong’s expression changed in an instant.
Although his Ye family was a hidden family, detached from worldly affairs, they were still on the land of the Great Xia Empire. They ultimately had to submit to the rule of the Great Xia Emperor.
He therefore bowed hastily to the princess, then asked in confusion, "Your Highness, your status is so noble. Why would you speak up for him?"
Long Xi’Er reached out, looped her arm through Ye Feng’s, and looked at Ye Chong. She stated calmly, "Because I am his wife."
"An imperial son-in-law! He’s the current imperial son-in-law!" Ye Chong shrieked. In the next moment, his face had turned deathly pale.
Long Xi’Er looked at Ye Chong and said coolly, "If Ye Feng agreed to it, more than half of the empire’s assets could be his. Now, do you still think he’s here to snatch your Ye family’s fortune?"
Cold sweat trickled down Ye Chong’s back. He finally understood that this Ye Feng was no longer an insignificant ant he could bully. The man was now leagues above him!
All the arrogance vanished from his face. He quickly put on an obsequious smile and said:
"Aiya, I was just joking earlier! Elder Uncle, Elder Aunt, Ye Feng, and Princess, please, come inside! Come in! I’ll go inform my father right away and have him come to welcome you!"
With that, he turned and ran into the manor.
Seeing Ye Chong’s transformation from arrogant to subservient, a flash of contempt crossed Ye Feng’s eyes.
He frowned at Ye Tianwen beside him and asked, "Dad, why is that Ye Chong such a piece of work?"
Before Ye Tianwen could speak, Su Mei, ever blunt, cut in, "His father is a piece of trash. What kind of son do you expect him to raise?"
Ye Tianwen quickly tried to stop her. "Hey, why are you telling the boy all this?"
"They dared to do it, so why can’t I talk about it?" Su Mei glared at Ye Tianwen. "Back then, he was so afraid we’d fight for the inheritance that he did everything he could to force our family out into the countryside. He’s that kind of person, so how could his son be any better!"
Hearing this, Ye Feng’s brow furrowed. "Dad, if they’re that kind of people, why did we even come back to the Ye family?"
Ye Tianwen looked at Ye Feng and said quickly, "I brought you to the Ye family mainly to see your grandfather, not your second uncle!"
He sighed and continued, "Besides, your mother and I were imprisoned for ten years. I’ve long since moved past these old grudges. I just want to reunite with my family! Please, don’t dwell on the conflicts of the older generation, will you? After all, we all have the same blood running through our veins!"
Seeing the almost pleading look in Ye Tianwen’s eyes, Ye Feng nodded quickly. "Dad, I understand."
Su Mei shot Ye Tianwen a glare but ultimately kept her mouth shut.
The group hadn’t walked far before they saw a crowd of people coming to greet them.
At the head of the group was a middle-aged man in a long robe. He had a dignified expression, but the sinister glint that occasionally flashed in his eyes was enough to send a chill down one’s spine.
This was none other than Ye Feng’s second uncle, Ye Tianwen’s younger brother, Ye Tianqiang.
As soon as he saw Ye Tianwen, Ye Tianqiang hurried forward, grabbed his hands, and exclaimed excitedly:
"Older Brother! You’re finally back! You’re finally back!"
As he spoke, he raised a hand to wipe his eyes.
Seeing Ye Tianqiang’s emotional display, Ye Tianwen’s heart warmed. He quickly embraced Ye Tianqiang and cried out emotionally, "Second Brother, have you all been well?"
"We’re well! We’re well!" Ye Tianqiang said quickly. "Older Brother, Sister-in-law, what are you all doing standing out here? Let’s go inside!"
He then looked at Ye Feng behind them and exclaimed, "This must be my nephew, Xiaofeng! Aiya, you’ve grown so big! Wonderful!"
He then looked at Long Xi’Er beside him. "And this is?"
From the back, Ye Chong quickly said, "Dad, she is the princess of the Great Xia Empire, and also Older Brother’s wife."
The moment Ye Tianqiang heard this, he hurried over to pay his respects. "Aiya! I was not aware of Your Highness’s arrival. Please forgive my failure to give you a proper welcome."
Long Xi’Er replied coolly, "We are all family now. There’s no need for such formalities."
Ye Tianqiang nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes! We’re all family now!"
Then, looking at Ye Feng, he exclaimed, "Xiaofeng, you’re truly capable, becoming an imperial son-in-law! From now on, the Ye family will be counting on you to bring us to new heights! Aiya, please, come inside, come inside."
With that, he gestured for the group to follow and led them toward the main hall.
Though Ye Tianqiang appeared very enthusiastic, Long Xi’Er sensed the hypocrisy.
She looked at Ye Feng and whispered, "Ye Feng, this second uncle of yours is more than he seems."
The corners of Ye Feng’s lips curled up slightly, but he said nothing and followed the others into the main hall.
