Chapter 458: Chapter 457: Profound 18 Needles
Ye Tianqiang invited everyone to sit down and enthusiastically brewed tea. Then, smiling, he said, "Brother, Sister-in-law, you haven’t been home in so long. Please, make yourselves comfortable and stay for a while. Tomorrow, I’ll have Xiaochong show you around. A lot has changed here in all the years you’ve been gone!"
Ye Tianwen nodded. He glanced at everyone in the main hall before looking at Ye Tianqiang to ask, "Where’s Dad? How come he isn’t here? I want to see him."
After ten years away, he truly missed his father.
Hearing this, Ye Tianqiang’s expression darkened. He sighed and said, "Dad... he’s like a simpleton now. He can’t even recognize people anymore."
"How could he have gotten like this?" The color drained from Ye Tianwen’s face. "I remember him being in perfect health!"
Ye Tianqiang sighed. "Don’t even ask. After what happened to your family, Father was dealt a devastating blow. He coughed up a great deal of blood and passed out. When he woke up... he was like this."
Ye Tianwen froze on the spot, his face turning deathly pale. It took a long moment for him to process the news. He looked at Ye Tianqiang, his voice trembling, "Where is Dad? I have to see him."
"He’s in his room now. I’ll take you to him." With that, Ye Tianqiang led Ye Tianwen toward the rear courtyard.
Ye Feng and the others followed closely behind.
The group arrived at a small courtyard in the back, where they saw a silver-haired old man sitting on a low stool. He was holding a fishing rod as if he were fishing, but the hook was simply swinging back and forth in the open air.
This elder was none other than the former Patriarch of the Ye family, Ye Lingtian.
At the sight of him, Ye Tianwen began to tremble violently. He hurried forward, looked at Ye Lingtian, and called out in a quavering voice, "Dad, your unworthy son, Ye Tianwen, is here to see you."
By the time he finished, his voice was impossibly raw.
But Ye Lingtian turned, pressed a finger to his lips, and shushed at Ye Tianwen. "Shh! Don’t make a sound. The fish are about to bite!"
Su Mei stepped forward from behind the group. "Father," she said gently, looking at the old man, "your hook is in the air. How can you possibly catch a fish?"
"No, it’s in the water," Ye Lingtian insisted with a straight face. "And the water is very deep!"
Su Mei and Ye Tianwen were both left speechless.
Just then, Ye Tianqiang called out from behind them, "Dad, it’s your eldest son, Tianwen! He’s come back to see you!"
Ye Lingtian shuddered. He tossed his fishing rod aside, turned, and ran straight to Su Mei. He threw his arms around her, crying out excitedly, "Tianwen! You’re finally back! You’re finally back!"
As he spoke, he began to nuzzle his aged face against her chest.
Su Mei’s face instantly flushed crimson.
Ye Tianqiang quickly interjected, "Dad, that’s my sister-in-law! *This* is my brother."
Ye Lingtian looked at Ye Tianwen and said sheepishly, "Oh, hello there, daughter-in-law!"
His solemn expression was clearly how one would greet their daughter-in-law.
Seeing Ye Lingtian’s confused state, Ye Tianqiang sighed. "He’s been like this ever since the trauma ten years ago."
Ye Tianwen’s heart shattered as he looked at his father’s vacant, childlike state. He could have never imagined that the once-formidable Ye Lingtian, a man who had commanded such authority, would be reduced to this.
Suppressing his overwhelming grief, he looked at Ye Tianqiang. "Second Brother, haven’t you tried to treat Father? I remember you being a very skilled doctor!"
Ye Tianqiang quickly shook his head. "Of course I’ve tried! I treated Father myself, but nothing worked. For years, I’ve searched far and wide for famous physicians and sought out every possible folk remedy, but no one can cure him. It’s simply an incurable illness. At this point, I’m completely out of options!"
But he had barely finished speaking when Ye Feng, who was standing behind him, spoke up calmly. "Actually, I can cure Grandfather’s illness."
As he said this, he stared directly at Ye Tianqiang, and he clearly saw a flicker of panic in his uncle’s eyes. It vanished as quickly as it appeared. Ye Tianqiang looked at Ye Feng and shook his head with a wry smile. "Ye Feng, I understand you want your grandfather to get better, but many Divine Doctors have already concluded that his condition is incurable..."
Ye Feng replied calmly, "Others may call it incurable, but I don’t."
With that, he walked over to Ye Lingtian, took out several silver needles, and prepared to administer them.
"Ye Feng, stop!" Panic flashed across Ye Tianqiang’s face. "The Divine Doctors all warned against treating Grandfather recklessly! You could make his condition even worse."
Ye Feng looked at Ye Tianqiang and replied calmly, "Grandfather is already in this state. How much worse could it possibly get?"
At that moment, Long Xi’Er chimed in, "Ye Feng is an incredible doctor. He’s even more skilled than the most revered physicians in the country. You should let him try."
Ye Tianqiang opened his mouth, but finding no reason to object, he simply closed it and said no more.
Ye Feng paid him no further mind. He swiftly inserted the silver needles into several major acupoints on Ye Lingtian’s head. Then, twisting the needles between his fingers, he channeled a stream of pure Inner Strength through them and into Ye Lingtian’s body.
"The Tongxuan Eighteen Needles." Seeing Ye Feng’s technique, Ye Tianqiang cried out in alarm. In the next instant, the color drained from his face.
He knew full well that this technique had a miraculous effect on clearing the mind and restoring lucidity. The fact that Ye Feng knew it meant his medical skills were anything but ordinary.
"Second Uncle, you recognize this technique?" Ye Feng asked, turning his head to look at Ye Tianqiang.
Ye Tianqiang nodded quickly. "I’ve read about it in medical texts, but I never learned how to perform it. Ye Feng, your skills have already surpassed my own!"
Ye Feng just smiled and continued the treatment. After a few minutes, Ye Lingtian slowly drifted into a deep sleep.
Ye Feng lifted his grandfather into his arms, carried him back to his room, and laid him on the bed, tucking the covers around him.
Ye Tianwen hurried to Ye Feng’s side and asked, "Ye Feng, how is he? How is your grandfather?"
