Chapter 184: Chapter 184: You’re Not Only Good-Looking, but Also Very Capable

After Bai Qianxun’s little stunt, Zhao Xiao’an had a major change of heart.

There were things she had originally wanted to say to Wang Chenning, but now she suddenly didn’t feel like it.

"The day Bai Qianxun gets the Lin family siblings and the Li family brothers together for dinner, I’m going with you!" she declared to Wang Chenning heroically. "I want to see if they still dare to come after you so brazenly after seeing my social media post!"

"What did you post?" Wang Chenning hadn’t really touched his phone since they left Zhao Jiefang’s place. He had no idea what kind of post Zhao Xiao’an had made, so he quickly pulled out his phone to check.

"Heh, you’ve got a few tricks up your sleeve!" Wang Chenning teased her with a smile after seeing her post. "I really underestimated you!"

Zhao Xiao’an shot Wang Chenning a look. "I’m helping you, and you’re making fun of me? Seriously!"

"I’m not making fun of you!" Wang Chenning pinched Zhao Xiao’an’s cheek. "I was trying to say that you’re not just beautiful, you’re also very capable!"

"Well, if you think I’m so great, then you’d better treat me better!" Zhao Xiao’an swatted his hand away and gave a cute sniffle. "Stop bullying me all the time!"

"Heaven is my witness, when have I ever bullied you!" Wang Chenning quickly protested his innocence. "Of all the people I’ve met since coming to Yandu, I’ve definitely treated you the best. I swear on my life! Besides, I’ve noticed you’re getting prettier and prettier. The more I look at you, the more beautiful you become. How could I dare treat such a lovely girl poorly?"

When it came to women, Wang Chenning never held back on the sweet talk.

The devastating effect of sweet nothings on women was truly extraordinary. A few simple sentences were all it took to coax a happy laugh out of Zhao Xiao’an.

Zhao Xiao’an was tired today, so after sitting for a little while longer, she suggested heading back to rest.

She didn’t ask Wang Chenning to stay the night with her again, afraid of a repeat of last night’s absurdities.

Given her current condition, getting too intimate would only make them both uncomfortable. It was better not to stir up trouble.

Wang Chenning breathed a sigh of relief when Zhao Xiao’an didn’t ask him to stay the night.

He was a bit tired today. After taking Zhao Xiao’an home, he went back to his own place and crashed into bed without even looking at his phone.

「The next day」

It was Wang Chenning’s consultation day at the First Affiliated Hospital. To his surprise, the old-timers from the Traditional Chinese Medicine conference were still in Yanjing.

They had rushed over to the First Affiliated Hospital early in the morning, wanting to get a good look at how he diagnosed his patients.

They had found out from Lu Yuanshan that Wang Chenning only held consultations for half a day each at the First Affiliated Hospital and Yandu Hospital, and he only saw ten patients per day.

These ten patients were all suffering from difficult and complicated cases that couldn’t be treated elsewhere. In fact, a few of them had previously been examined by some of the very experts attending the conference.

The fact that Wang Chenning only treated patients others couldn’t cure left many with mixed feelings, and it also made everyone even more curious about him.

Therefore, after learning his consultation schedule and routine, quite a few of them decided to stay in Yandu for a few extra days, hoping to witness his treatment process firsthand.

Wang Chenning didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but he didn’t refuse their request to "observe the battle."

However, he made sure to explain the situation to his patients and only allowed these old-timers to observe after getting their consent.

When the patients heard that the observers were all expert-level senior TCM doctors, they weren’t resistant to the idea at all.

Some were still worried that Wang Chenning was too young and lacked clinical experience. Having more senior TCM doctors watching and guiding from the sidelines would surely be a great help to their treatment, so they were more than willing to accept.

Wang Chenning didn’t hold anything back, displaying all of his unique skills.

He wasn’t confined to traditional medical treatments; he used an integrated approach of both Chinese and Western medicine for every patient.

Most patients received acupuncture during their treatment, but the needling techniques he used were different for each person.

And so, the observers once again witnessed Wang Chenning’s extraordinary acupuncture mastery.

The dexterity with which he applied the needles, along with the sheer exquisiteness of his techniques, left them all astonished.

Wang Chenning also let them see the prescriptions he wrote. The ingenuity and complexity of his formulas equally amazed these men, who were themselves deeply learned in traditional medicine.

Wang Chenning was bold in his use of medicine, and his prescriptions were incredibly precise. Everyone who saw them felt humbled by his skill.

They were also shocked to discover that Wang Chenning had a thorough understanding of Western medicine and pharmacology, demonstrating a deep knowledge of everything from antibiotics to antiviral drugs.

A young man in his early twenties with such a high level of attainment in both Chinese and Western medicine was far beyond their comparison. They could only be filled with admiration.

The old-timers who had observed Wang Chenning’s diagnostic process in the morning rushed to his classroom early in the afternoon to grab seats for his lecture.

When the students learned that these old-timers were all legendary bigwigs in the world of traditional medicine, they voluntarily gave up the front-row seats for them.

Most of the theoretical knowledge Wang Chenning taught in his *Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis* class wasn’t from the textbook. Much of it was the result of his own research, and so even these old-timers were left gasping in amazement as they listened.

After the class ended, Zheng Guilong, the heir to the art of fire-needling who desperately wanted to become Wang Chenning’s apprentice, stood up on his own accord to share his thoughts on the lecture with the students.

After Zheng Guilong introduced himself, a wave of gasps rippled through the classroom.

Zheng Guilong’s achievements in traditional medicine were considerable. His name was on the editorial board of the *Acupuncture and Moxibustion* textbook, and many students had heard anecdotes about him. They never expected to see him in their classroom today.

Amid a round of applause, Zheng Guilong walked sheepishly to Wang Chenning’s side and said to the students with a chuckle, "I truly envy all of you. You actually get to hear Teacher Wang’s lectures regularly. You have the opportunity to call him ’Teacher’ and become his students. But me, I don’t even have that chance."

Zheng Guilong’s words stunned most of the students in the classroom, and gasps erupted everywhere.

"Let me tell you all something else. At the Traditional Chinese Medicine conference a few days ago, I challenged Teacher Wang in needling techniques. What do you think happened?"

Before anyone could guess the result, Zheng Guilong aired his own dirty laundry. "I lost. It was an absolutely miserable defeat. Teacher Wang was on a completely different level; he utterly crushed me using the very techniques I specialize in. I am in absolute awe of his accomplishments in needling. I want nothing more than to study under him and become his disciple, but he turned me down, saying I’m too old to be his apprentice!"

Zheng Guilong’s words once again sent the entire room into an uproar.

Then, a few of the other old-timers who had come to listen to the lecture also spoke up, sharing similar experiences.

The room was in an uproar several times over, and the students’ social media feeds were soon flooded with posts about these old masters.

If Zheng Guilong and the other senior experts hadn’t revealed these embarrassing stories themselves, no one would have believed it if they’d heard it as a rumor.

All they could say was that their dear, beloved Teacher Wang Chenning was just too incredible, having single-handedly won the total admiration of these old-timers.

Wang Chenning, however, remained very humble. He smiled at the senior experts and the fired-up students. "Every field has its own specialists; everyone has different strengths. Each of these senior experts who graced us with their presence today has something worth teaching me. I hope we can have more exchanges, pass on our respective strengths to others, and work together to advance traditional medicine!"

Finally, he shared a piece of good news. In a couple of days, he would be holding a ceremony to formally accept his first batch of disciples, witnessed by leaders from the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the university. As for who he would accept as his disciples, he would announce that at the ceremony.

Wang Chenning’s sudden announcement that he was taking on disciples not only shocked the students present but also drove the old-timers who came to listen absolutely wild...
