Chapter 465: Giving Her a Romantic Feeling

On the morning of Yang Xiaofei’s birthday, Wang Chenning went to her villa to see her first thing.

When Wang Chenning came in, Yang Xiaofei had just woken up but hadn’t gotten out of bed yet.

“How about a morning therapy session to start?” Seeing Yang Xiaofei still in bed, Wang Chenning said with a smile, “No matter how well you slept last night, this will put you in top form for when we go out later!”

Yang Xiaofei didn’t refuse. She obediently lay back down and blissfully enjoyed Wang Chenning’s treatment and massage.

However, Wang Chenning didn’t take the opportunity to make a move on her. There wasn’t a single suggestive touch, which left Yang Xiaofei’s heart itching for more.

After Yang Xiaofei finished washing up, Wang Chenning told her to change into some casual clothes.

As Yang Xiaofei, following his instructions, finished changing and was about to do her hair, Wang Chenning eagerly volunteered to comb it for her.

“I never would’ve guessed you knew how to do a girl’s hair!” Sitting at her vanity, watching the reflection of Wang Chenning behind her skillfully combing through her long hair, Yang Xiaofei teased with a grin, “Have you had a lot of practice? How many girls have you done this for?”

“It’s surprisingly similar to weaving a rope from grass—pretty simple, really. Besides, I have deft hands,” Wang Chenning laughed. “You’re very lucky. You’re the first!”

“I don’t believe you for a second!” Though she said that, a smile was blooming across Yang Xiaofei’s face.

Wang Chenning braided Yang Xiaofei’s hair into two plaits, then tied them together at the back of her head. The style secured all of her long hair, revealing her slender neck and delicate face.

“Sigh, this face is so beautiful, I can’t resist the urge to take a little bite!” After finishing her hair, Wang Chenning gently caressed her cheek. “I’m considering whether I should do your makeup to make you look a little uglier. That way, fewer people will stare at you when we go out!”

“No way!” Yang Xiaofei immediately rejected his proposal. “I want to go out looking my most beautiful!”

“Alright, then!” Wang Chenning had no choice but to agree.

He helped her with a few final adjustments to her hair and clothes. In the end, the Yang Xiaofei in the mirror looked completely different from her usual self, but she was just as beautiful, practically sparkling.

“You’ve already given me two surprises this morning!” Standing up, Yang Xiaofei held up two fingers.

“By the end of today, I bet you’ll run out of fingers to count on!” Wang Chenning pinched the two fingers Yang Xiaofei held up, then smoothly took her hand. “Let’s go, my beautiful birthday girl!”

Yang Xiaofei gave him a sweet smile in return. They walked out of the villa hand in hand and got into his low-key Ford Edge.

She didn’t ask where Wang Chenning was taking her. Today was a day for her to simply enjoy, not to ask questions.

Wang Chenning took Yang Xiaofei to a section of the Great Wall near Simatai, a stretch that few people visited and was closer to its original, unrestored state.

This area wasn’t open to the public. It was also quite difficult to climb, so tourists rarely came here.

But none of that was a problem for Wang Chenning.

Carrying a large pack on his back and holding the hand of a delicate woman like Yang Xiaofei, he still walked along the treacherous wall as if it were level ground.

By the time they climbed to a beacon tower at the highest point, Yang Xiaofei was panting and glistening with sweat.

“I’m exhausted! Let’s rest for a bit!” She practically collapsed onto Wang Chenning’s arm. “Why did you bring me to a place like this?”

“You’ve never tried this kind of cross-country hiking, have you?” Wang Chenning helped Yang Xiaofei sit down on the wall. “Facing all the challenges on the climb—don’t you feel completely relaxed now? Like your whole world has opened up?”

“It was tiring, but a lot of fun!” Yang Xiaofei tilted her head and looked at Wang Chenning with a mischievous expression. “And the pictures you took of me look really good!”

“As long as you’re happy!”

Leaning against each other, they sat on the Great Wall and chatted idly.

They talked about the Great Wall, which led to history, and from history to the progress of the modern era. Wang Chenning was surprised to discover that the woman beside him was genuinely knowledgeable, seemingly well-versed in everything.

It was a warm spring day with flowers in bloom, the scenery was beautiful in every direction, and he was chatting endlessly with the beautiful woman by his side, with no one else to disturb them. The feeling was truly wonderful.

Before they knew it, it was time for lunch.

Hearing Yang Xiaofei’s stomach go RUMBLE, Wang Chenning laughed. “Let’s make some lunch!”

“You brought cooking gear too?” Yang Xiaofei was astonished.

Right before her astonished eyes, Wang Chenning pulled picnic supplies from his pack.

There was a windproof camp stove, a nesting cookset, as well as noodles, dumplings, and ingredients for a few other dishes.

Under Yang Xiaofei’s pleasantly surprised gaze and the lens of her phone camera, Wang Chenning prepared a sumptuous lunch for the two of them.

He stir-fried two dishes, boiled the dumplings and noodles, and then sat across from Yang Xiaofei on the wall. They drank beer and ate their picnic lunch.

Even for Yang Xiaofei, who was used to eating gourmet delicacies, this lunch cooked with picnic gear in such a unique setting had a special charm all its own.

“Even if the day ended right here, I’d already be perfectly happy!” Yang Xiaofei said with a beaming smile after opening her mouth to eat a piece of egg that Wang Chenning fed her. “I saw you have a tent in your car. Are you planning on camping out?”

“Don’t you want to experience the romance of camping?” Wang Chenning looked at Yang Xiaofei, his eyes crinkling with a smile. “I guarantee I’ll give you a birthday you’ll never forget—especially tonight!”

Yang Xiaofei’s face instantly turned red, but in the end, she nodded and agreed. “In that case, I’ll be waiting for you to give me a night I’ll never forget!”
