Urban Genius Divine Doctor
Chapter 469: Yang Xiaofei Is Still Waiting for Him
A miracle occurred before everyone’s eyes.
The patient, who had been unconscious all this time, slowly opened his eyes after his eyelids fluttered a few times.
After opening them, he looked around in a daze for a moment before slowly closing them again.
“How do you feel?” Wang Chenning asked softly, holding the patient’s hand. “I’m your attending physician, Wang Chenning. I’m here. You’re going to be okay.”
“Dizzy… my head feels swollen… no strength,” the patient said in a weak voice. “I feel like I was just dreaming. I dreamt that I was flying and flying, but I just couldn’t fall back down.”
The patient, who had been completely unresponsive just moments ago, could now open his eyes and even answer Wang Chenning’s questions—and say so much at once. The people gathered around all stared with wide eyes.
This wasn’t just a miracle; it was divine!
If a patient woke up after conventional treatment, they would remain disoriented for a long time. It would be impossible for them to speak so clearly.
To speak so fluently was something that might only be possible after at least half a month of continuous treatment.
Wang Chenning’s methods and their results had once again completely overturned everyone’s understanding of medicine.
Fortunately, everyone had heard many legends about Wang Chenning over the past few months. Otherwise, they might have started to question their own reality.
“Then you’ll be fine,” Wang Chenning said, patting the patient’s hand. “Just focus on recovering here. If all goes well, you could be discharged in ten days. As long as you cooperate with the treatment, I guarantee you’ll be able to return to the blue skies!”
“Thank you, Doctor,” the patient said sincerely before slowly closing his eyes again.
Wang Chenning performed another massage on the patient’s temples and the acupoints at the base of his skull, after which the patient fell into a deep sleep.
Wang Chenning didn’t issue any new medical orders. With the patient’s recovery reaching this stage, no new medications were needed.
His two sessions of continuous treatment, along with the pill he had administered earlier, were enough to sustain the patient’s life for more than ten hours.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he would only need to treat the patient one more time within the next ten hours.
After instructing the medical staff in the ward to constantly monitor the patient’s vital signs, Wang Chenning left the room.
By the time he had changed his clothes and walked to the staff lounge, Director Zhang Jingfeng, the other hospital administrators, and the leaders from the patient’s unit were all waiting for him.
“The patient’s life is no longer in danger,” Wang Chenning said, explaining the situation before they could even ask. “His cerebral edema was quite severe, but I’ve eliminated it and resolved the danger of a brain herniation. However, we still need to closely monitor his recovery and continue treatment. I’ll be back to treat him again tomorrow around eight in the morning. From the look of it, the damage to his brain is very minor. After he recovers, he should be fully capable of returning to his original line of work.”
“That’s wonderful!” The old man with two small golden stars on his shoulders gripped Wang Chenning’s hand tightly. “Thank you so, so much!”
“Teacher Wang, your medical skills are truly exquisite,” said the middle-aged man with one small star, grasping Wang Chenning’s hand with both of his. He spoke with great emotion, “You saved the life of a hero. We are so grateful to you.”
“It’s nothing, it’s nothing,” Wang Chenning replied with a smile. “Saving lives is the mission of medical personnel, just as protecting our country’s blue skies is your duty. It’s a responsibility none of us can shirk. You are our guardians, and when you need it, we will be your guardians in return.”
After explaining the situation and exchanging a few more pleasantries, Wang Chenning prepared to leave.
“Under normal circumstances, nothing unexpected should happen. If there are any abnormal changes, contact me immediately,” Wang Chenning told the hospital leaders and the heads of the patient’s unit. He added that he didn’t live far from the hospital and could rush back at a moment’s notice if needed.
He needed to go back and prepare the medicinal liquid he would add to tomorrow’s acupuncture treatment.
“Then you should go home and get some rest,” Zhang Jingfeng said, shaking Wang Chenning’s hand gratefully. “After this is all over, we will be sure to publicize your great deeds!”
“It’s nothing, it’s nothing,” Wang Chenning said modestly, then took his leave.
To his surprise, Yang Xiaofei hadn’t left. Instead, she was curled up in his car, resting.
Yang Xiaofei, who had reclined the passenger seat to take a short nap, was startled awake by the sound of the door opening and immediately sat up.
“Is it over?” she asked, rubbing her eyes, her voice soft and sleepy. “Did you save the patient?”
“With a miracle doctor like me on the case, nothing is impossible!” Wang Chenning stretched and said with a chuckle, “I managed to save your grandfather when he was on the brink of death. This patient’s situation today was relatively easier, so of course there were no surprises.”
“So you got to be the hero again,” Yang Xiaofei said, smiling at Wang Chenning. “The hospital leaders and the heads of the patient’s unit must be incredibly grateful to you, right?”
“I’ve been thanked by enough patients and their families that it doesn’t faze me anymore,” Wang Chenning said as he fastened his seatbelt and started the car. “It’s almost midnight. We should head back and get some sleep.”
“Let’s go to my place,” Yang Xiaofei said, pointing to the car’s clock, which read “23:20.” “There are still forty minutes left of my birthday. Spend them with me.”
Wang Chenning looked at Yang Xiaofei with a grin. “If we hurry, there’s still time to do the most important thing, right?”
Yang Xiaofei’s face instantly turned red.
