Chapter 472: Chapter 472: Shameless Bragging

After some playful flirting, Yang Xiaofei wiped her flushed cheeks and asked Wang Chenning curiously, "Yandu Hospital is one of Huaxia’s top-tier hospitals, so their medical expertise should be first-rate. How did you cure a patient they were powerless to help?"

"The principle for restoring a patient to health, to put it simply, is to help the body’s immune system completely overcome the disease.

No matter what methods we use, they are all aimed at achieving this single purpose. For a person to completely recover from an illness, they ultimately have to rely on their body’s immune system. What I do is stimulate acupoints and regulate the circulation of qi and blood to concentrate the core of the immune defense right at the source of the illness.

Simply put, it’s about concentrating the patient’s own superior forces to fight a battle of annihilation. Of course, this battle of annihilation still needs the support of medicine, or else you’d get half the results with twice the effort!"

"Oh, I see!" Yang Xiaofei nodded, though she only half-understood. "You mean that as long as someone’s acupuncture skills reach a certain level, they can become a miracle doctor like you!"

"Yes!" Wang Chenning nodded. "But reaching my level is no easy feat. I can say with confidence that in another ten years, perhaps someone will be able to reach the heights I’m at today!"

"And ten years from now, your skills will have improved even more, so no one will ever be able to reach your level?" Yang Xiaofei’s eyes began to sparkle.

"A perfect score on reading comprehension!" Wang Chenning reached out and pinched Yang Xiaofei’s delicate cheek. "So, since you’ve met a guy like me—with masterful medical skills, limitless potential, who’s tall and handsome, and has incredible earning power—you should cherish me!"

"What’s the use of me cherishing you!" Yang Xiaofei rolled her eyes. "If it’s just my one-sided affection, what will I get in return?"

Wang Chenning just smiled without answering.

When it was time for Wang Chenning to teach his class, Yang Xiaofei headed back to her company to take care of some business.

She would come back at one in the afternoon, when Wang Chenning was scheduled to hold the kick-off meeting for the new lab with all the relevant personnel.

Before class began, Wang Chenning told the students about the patient he had treated the day before, explaining the principles and methods he had used.

"I hope that some of you will become doctors who can turn the tide, who can save lives when all hope seems lost!" Wang Chenning said with an encouraging smile. "When you accomplish what others can’t, the sense of achievement you’ll feel, the level of respect you’ll command... I don’t need to spell that out for you, right?"

Wang Chenning’s words were met with a wave of cheers from the students in the classroom.

Wang Chenning then told the students that they were the only class of undergraduates he would ever teach, and that he hoped many of them would go on to become his graduate students.

He also announced that he would soon be establishing a doctoral program at Yandu Hospital and would be taking on a group of students as their PhD advisor.

In short, it would become exponentially harder to become his student in the future.

At this, the students in their seats erupted in excited roars.

Just before class ended, Wang Chenning spotted Zhao Xiao’an’s silhouette outside the window.

After quickly answering a few more questions from his students, he bolted out of the classroom, grabbed Zhao Xiao’an by the hand, and started running.

"So you were off saving someone again yesterday!" Zhao Xiao’an said with a charming laugh after Wang Chenning had pulled her along for a short distance. "I was wondering why you suddenly went off the grid!"

Wang Chenning briefly explained the situation with the patient he’d saved, then added with a thoughtful sigh, "The patient was a decorated pilot. He took off his oxygen mask to deal with an emergency, exposing himself to the low-pressure environment at high altitude. That ultimately led to cerebral edema and a brain hernia due to factors beyond his control. If the treatment hadn’t been administered in time, the brain damage would have been irreversible, even if they had managed to save his life.

Right now, his brain damage is still in a recoverable stage. If I continue to treat him for a while, he should be able to make a full recovery and return to the skies. He’s a highly skilled pilot and an excellent instructor, capable of training countless other outstanding aviators.

Saving a man like that... it gives me a real sense of accomplishment!"

"You’re the best!" Zhao Xiao’an said, her face breaking into a wide smile as she looked at Wang Chenning. "Yesterday was Yang Xiaofei’s birthday, you know. I thought you were off celebrating with her!"

"We’re getting a bit old to be celebrating birthdays!" Wang Chenning chuckled. "Come on, let me treat you to lunch in our cafeteria. The lab construction is officially kicking off this afternoon. Do you want to come cover it for a story?"

"Of course I am!" Zhao Xiao’an said proudly. "This morning, I already submitted a request to interview the pilot. I hope it gets approved. If it does, I’ll give you some amazing publicity and do my best to make you the most famous viral doctor in all of Huaxia!"

"If I get any more popular, I’m going to get burned!" Wang Chenning said with a wry smile. "I’m really afraid that old saying will come true: ’The tree that stands tallest in the forest will be broken by the wind.’"

"As if you’re afraid of anyone trying to tear you down!" Zhao Xiao’an laughed slyly. "By the way, we’ll have some time after lunch before the afternoon meeting. Do you want to go back and get some rest?"

Wang Chenning gave her a meaningful smile. "If you’re willing to come rest with me, then I’ll go get some rest!"

"You’re impossible!" Zhao Xiao’an said, blushing as she gave Wang Chenning a light tap. "But, seeing as you’ve behaved so well... I suppose I can accompany you for a little rest!"
