"You’re awful!" Although things had gone smoothly, Luo Yuqing wasn’t very satisfied with Wang Chenning’s attitude. "You’re being so perfunctory!"

"Still not satisfied, are you?" Wang Chenning gave her a hard slap, then subjected her to a harsh round of punishment. "I’d almost forgotten I came here to punish you today!"

Luo Yuqing quickly surrendered, begging Wang Chenning to be gentler and to know how to treat a lady. She told him women were meant to be pampered, not punished.

But Wang Chenning paid her no mind, punishing her fiercely several more times before finally letting her be.

Poor Luo Yuqing. She had originally wanted to talk to Wang Chenning about the day’s events, especially to discuss commercializing the lab’s research results. But she never expected that after being "punished" by him, she would just drift off into a deep sleep.

Seeing that Luo Yuqing had fallen asleep, Wang Chenning, who had also wanted to chat with her, didn’t really mind.

’There’s always tomorrow. We’ll have plenty of chances to talk later.’

’It’s no big deal to let her worry for a little while!’

After getting Luo Yuqing settled, he took a shower and quietly left.

「At half past eleven,」 his car pulled into the underground garage of Yang Xiaofei’s villa.

Yang Xiaofei wasn’t in bed yet; she hadn’t even showered.

She’d had someone prepare a late-night snack and was at her computer, finishing up work from the day.

She had spent her birthday running wild with Wang Chenning all day, so she’d fallen behind on a lot of things.

Then this afternoon, she had spent the whole time at Wang Chenning’s place, so the work was still unfinished. She had no choice but to use her evening hours to catch up.

"Well now, I thought you’d be all showered and waiting for me!" Seeing the grilled skewers, Wang Chenning didn’t hesitate to sit down, grabbing a still-warm kebab and starting to eat. "What’s this? Still busy?"

"Almost done!" Yang Xiaofei flashed Wang Chenning a seductive smile. "Go on, eat first. I’ll just be a minute!"

Wang Chenning had downed a can of beer and a dozen or so skewers by the time Yang Xiaofei finally finished her work and closed her laptop.

"I want some too!" Yang Xiaofei picked up a grilled sausage and cracked open a beer. "Anyway, since you’re here, I don’t have to worry about indigestion, gaining weight, or breaking out. I’ll join you for a bit!"

"Oh, so you like sausage, huh?" Wang Chenning said with a smirk, eyeing the grilled sausage in Yang Xiaofei’s hand. "You’d better eat your fill tonight!"

Yang Xiaofei was a bit slow on the uptake. It wasn’t until Wang Chenning repeated himself that she understood his innuendo, leaving her both embarrassed and annoyed.

"You’re disgusting!" She kicked out at Wang Chenning. "Don’t even think about it!"

"Then just eat less. I don’t like them anyway," Wang Chenning replied with a straight face, trying to hold back his laughter. "Greasy food is bad for your skin, after all."

"I’m going to eat even more, then!" Yang Xiaofei retorted, grabbing a beef skewer and taking a big bite. "I’ve been busy all day, and I’m starving. Who knows what else is on the agenda for tonight? I need to store up my energy!"

"Good thinking, good thinking!" Wang Chenning gave Yang Xiaofei a thumbs-up. "Very forward-thinking of you!"

His reward was another kick from Yang Xiaofei.

Unlike Luo Yuqing, Yang Xiaofei didn’t let things get so heated that she forgot about business. While sharing snacks and beer with Wang Chenning, she brought up the day’s events and her thoughts on expanding their business partnership.

"Why are you so worried about all that?" Wang Chenning replied nonchalantly. "We’re practically an old married couple. If I’m not letting you in on this, who else would I?"

Yang Xiaofei was instantly delighted, but she still gave Wang Chenning another kick. "Who’s an old married couple with you? Hmph! You’ve had your way with me, and now you’re all talk!"

"Who had their way with whom, exactly?" Wang Chenning pinched her long leg. "Got a taste and now you can’t get enough, right?"

Yang Xiaofei was once again both flustered and annoyed, but it ended with her breaking into a dazzling smile. "That’s right. Now I can’t go a day without you. Feeling pretty smug, are we?"

Wang Chenning shook his head. "Not smug. It’s the beginning of a lot of hard work."

"You’re impossible!" Yang Xiaofei finally snapped. Ignoring the grease on her hands, she lunged at Wang Chenning and let loose a flurry of playful punches and kicks.

But he quickly subdued her, planting several greasy kisses on her.

In the end, Yang Xiaofei stopped holding back and returned his sloppy kisses with a few fierce ones of her own.

If it weren’t for the grease still on their hands, the two of them would have undoubtedly taken things all the way.

After their bout of horsing around, they did manage to exchange a few opinions on the matter of commercializing the research results.

Wang Chenning explained the real situation, telling her it was just a temporary measure. Once they no longer needed the government’s investment, he would have full control over how the equity was handled.

In three months, at most, they could expand the equity, and he would bring her in then.

He would make sure the profits from his research didn’t end up in an outsider’s pocket.

"Now that’s more like it!" Yang Xiaofei gave Wang Chenning a sweet smile. "Does this mean you’ll let me manage these ventures for you in the future?"

"The future, huh?" Wang Chenning said, grinning at Yang Xiaofei. "That will depend on your capabilities. You can manage as much as you’re able to handle!"

"And here you were, promising to make me a queen!" Yang Xiaofei rolled her eyes at him.

Wang Chenning replied, "If I promise you something, I’ll definitely do it. If I don’t dare to make a promise, it’s only because I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep it!"

Yang Xiaofei shot him another look. "Are you talking about being my fiancé?"

Wang Chenning just smiled without answering.

"Whatever, let’s drop it." Yang Xiaofei stood up. "It’s getting late. Time for a shower! I know you’re tired today, so how about I wash you?"

"Oh, yeah?" Wang Chenning’s face lit up. "In that case, I’ll just stand in the bathroom and not move a muscle. You’ll have to do everything for me. How’s that?"

"Deal! Tonight, I’ll be your little handmaiden for a change. I’ll let you have your fun!"
