Chapter 479: Chapter 479: A Lofty Goal

After Lin Anning left, Wang Chenning immediately called Wu Jingyi, Chang Qingfeng, Zhang Manxin, and Lin Qingyan into the room.

"Today, Lin Anning came to see me. She clearly conveyed the intentions of the Lin family elders—they want to put our enmity aside and work together. We just discussed the details of these matters." Wang Chenning also briefly explained his previous conflict with the Lin family, then continued, "Among powerful families, everything is driven by interests. It’s not surprising for the elders to think this way. The Lin family is a major force. If we can cooperate with them, it will be a huge help to us."

Wu Jingyi and the others had assumed Wang Chenning and Lin Anning had something going on. Hearing his explanation, they finally understood, and the worry that had been nagging at them vanished.

Lin Anning was incredibly beautiful and elegant, with a breathtaking height. She was also a new contender. Zhao Xiao’an, Yang Xiaofei, and Yang Xiaofu already had them feeling pressured. If another woman was added to the mix, the pressure would be immense.

Wu Jingyi, who tended to overthink things the most, actually let out a long sigh of relief, which made the others give her a strange look.

After giving the four of them their instructions, Wang Chenning had them gather everyone else so he could teach them new techniques.

Lately, Wang Chenning had been teaching them one new Acupuncture Skill technique each week, along with other insights on diagnosis and treatment. After each lesson, he would have them practice until they were proficient.

He also had them practice circulating and transforming the qi and blood in their own bodies, trying to find the feeling of channeling energy while applying the needles.

They had to master the techniques first before they could enter that state.

Wang Chenning knew these new disciples all had a solid foundation, so he didn’t bother teaching them the absolute basics.

In a few months, he planned to test them all at once and then divide them into groups for tiered instruction based on their performance.

After teaching for fifteen minutes, Wang Chenning let them practice on their own and prepared to head back and get some rest.

Before he left, he called Pu Zhengyang and Tian Zhiheng over to chat with them privately for a bit.

Wang Chenning asked about their studies and how they were adjusting to life. He also asked what they thought of his teaching style. He was relieved to hear that they approved of his methods and were getting along well with the other disciples.

He spoke with them for half an hour, painting a picture of the team’s bright future. He encouraged them to study and work hard, to strive to become key members of the team, and to not bring shame upon their grandfathers—or upon him.

Wang Chenning’s new disciples were all highly skilled, which put a great deal of pressure on the normally proud and ambitious Pu Zhengyang and Tian Zhiheng.

Furthermore, the local disciples held no special reverence for foreigners; in fact, they even seemed to look down on them a little.

Wu Jingyi, Zhang Manxin, and Lin Qingyan, the three most exceptional women, would even order them around frequently.

This environment forced Pu Zhengyang and Tian Zhiheng to study even harder, not daring to slack off in the slightest.

After all, Chinese wasn’t their native language, so their ability to fully comprehend the content of Wang Chenning’s lectures couldn’t compare to the others.

Fortunately, Wang Chenning gave them special attention, often pulling them aside for private, heart-to-heart talks.

What they didn’t know was that these private talks with Wang Chenning were a subtle form of brainwashing.

Wang Chenning wanted Pu Zhengyang and Tian Zhiheng to develop a sense of identity and belonging within the team. The goal was for them to see themselves as integral members, to fight for the team’s honor, and to ultimately not just accept, but idolize him as their teacher. From there, he hoped they would develop a sense of belonging to Huaxia itself.

Wang Chenning intended to cultivate them as his agents; he had high hopes for them.

Toward the end of their conversation, Wang Chenning asked if they knew anyone with good aptitude among their friends and family back home. If so, they should see if those people were interested in coming to Huaxia to study. As long as they had talent and could pass his assessment, they too could become his students.

Pu Zhengyang and Tian Zhiheng were delighted to hear this.

They truly did want some of their fellow countrymen to join them; they’d be less lonely and would have more allies.

The conversation left both parties satisfied.

Just as their talk concluded, Wang Chenning received a text from Zhao Xiao’an. She told him the show was airing in half an hour and that he should be sure to watch.

"I’ll have them all watch it!" Wang Chenning told Zhao Xiao’an. He explained that he was talking with his two foreign disciples, Pu Zhengyang and Tian Zhiheng, and that he was going to brainwash them into becoming steadfast believers in Huaxia.

"I’ll let you get back to it. I’ve got things to do, too!" Zhao Xiao’an didn’t want to disturb him any longer.

Wang Chenning stayed a little while longer to tell everyone the broadcast time for his interview, and then he left.

He first went to the hospital to give the pilot another treatment, then drove to Luo Yuqing’s place.

The pilot’s condition had stabilized. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, including Wang Chenning.

By the time he arrived at Luo Yuqing’s apartment, she had just gotten in the shower.

"Are you going to come help me wash up, or are you just going to wait out there?" Seeing Wang Chenning push the door open, Luo Yuqing wasn’t the least bit surprised. She turned to face him unabashedly and struck a deliberately provocative pose, teasing him.

"You finish up. Just make sure you come out smelling nice," Wang Chenning said as he sat down on the sofa to watch the report on his interview.

He was only halfway through the report when Luo Yuqing came out, wrapped in a bath towel.

She squeezed in beside Wang Chenning, resting her head on his shoulder to watch his phone.

"Zhao Xiao’an really put a lot of thought into this," Luo Yuqing remarked with a hint of jealousy after they finished watching. "It’s designed to highlight your image at every turn."

"That’s a good thing, isn’t it?" Wang Chenning tossed his phone aside and pulled Luo Yuqing into his arms. "Now, how about we solve that little elementary school math problem: seventy-eight minus nine?"

"Then you’d better go take a shower. We’ll talk after you’re all clean," Luo Yuqing said, giving Wang Chenning a sultry look. "Feeling creative, are we? What new achievement are you hoping to unlock?"

"I think you’re the one who needs to practice her squats."

"You’re the worst!"
