Chapter 482: Chapter 482: The Black Shop
Around 10:30 AM, after being badgered by Yang Xiaofu, Wang Chenning had no choice but to take her for a drive in the suburbs.
The weather was beautiful. Early April in Yandu was the season when all the flowers came into full bloom.
Weather like this was perfect for heading outdoors to enjoy the spring blossoms.
In fact, Wang Chenning, having the afternoon free, had also been thinking of asking someone to go out with him.
He had originally wanted to ask Lin Anning along, wanting to find out what she had told the old man in her family after she went home yesterday.
He also wanted to offer Lin Anning some romantic companionship.
But with Yang Xiaofu’s relentless pestering, he decided not to bother Lin Anning.
Yang Xiaofu wanted to head out toward Pinggu for fun, and Wang Chenning ultimately didn’t refuse.
However, on the drive to Pinggu, she saw the peach and pear blossoms in full bloom along the road and changed her mind. She no longer wanted to go so far, preferring to look at the flowers in the nearby suburbs instead.
Wang Chenning hadn’t wanted to drive too far either, so Yang Xiaofu’s change of heart suited him just fine.
The fields and farmlands of the suburbs might seem like ordinary scenery to most, but at the height of spring, they were breathtakingly beautiful.
This was especially true for a wealthy young woman like Yang Xiaofu, who had grown up in the city, far from the countryside. The pure, natural spring scenery held an irresistible charm for her.
Of course, the most important thing was having the handsome guy she had a crush on by her side.
When you’re with someone you like, any place is scenic. Even picking up bottles from a trash can to exchange for cash would be a wonderfully sweet affair.
It wasn’t until almost two o’clock that Yang Xiaofu finally agreed to get something to eat.
Wang Chenning had suggested finding a place to eat around noon, but Yang Xiaofu, who was having the time of her life, wouldn’t agree.
Wandering through the fields, weaving between the peach and pear blossoms, taking beautiful photos, holding his hand, and stealing kisses and being affectionate when no one was around—the feeling was like a drug, leaving Yang Xiaofu completely intoxicated.
If she hadn’t started feeling the symptoms of low blood sugar from hunger, Yang Xiaofu would have wanted to keep going forever.
They got back in the car and used the GPS to find a farmhouse restaurant near a local scenic area.
This season, there were quite a lot of people out in the suburbs enjoying the spring blossoms. Even though it was almost 2:30 PM, two other tables were still occupied.
"Here to eat?" A rather burly middle-aged man greeted Wang Chenning and Yang Xiaofu as they walked in. "Come on in, have a seat!"
The two picked a table by the window and sat down.
Outside the window was a large peach tree in full, magnificent bloom. The BUZZ BUZZ of bees was clearly audible.
Everything was as beautiful as a spring landscape!
Wang Chenning let Yang Xiaofu order.
Yang Xiaofu didn’t hold back, ordering a plate of oysters, some creek fish, a plate of green vegetables, and a plate of bamboo shoots.
"Let’s keep it simple!" Yang Xiaofu said, pointing at the oysters with a mischievous look. "I feel like you’ve been working hard. You should... replenish your energy!"
Wang Chenning laughed. "Oysters are delicious, and I do like them. But as for their ’replenishing’ effects... if I had to rely on this, I’d be screwed!"
Yang Xiaofu rolled her eyes.
The customers at the other two tables had already been served all their food, so the wait wasn’t long. Their dishes came out quickly.
Since they had to drive, neither of them ordered alcohol, sticking to plain water.
After spending half the day together, holding hands and kissing, all their reservations had melted away, and they chatted casually.
Just as their conversation was getting lively, an angry voice erupted from nearby:
"What did you say? A thousand yuan for ten oysters? That’s a hundred yuan each, not a hundred for all ten? Didn’t your menu say a portion for ten was a hundred yuan?"
Hearing the voice, both Wang Chenning and Yang Xiaofu turned to look.
They saw a middle-aged man at the next table who had just finished his meal and was about to pay. He was holding his phone and a menu, arguing with the restaurant staff.
"Ten creek fish per plate at thirty yuan each? Ten yuan per stalk of vegetable for a fifty-yuan plate? Is this a robbery? With these prices, are you trying to compete with the top of Huang Mountain?"
The chubby owner didn’t seem angry at all. He picked up a menu and replied unhurriedly, "Our prices are all clearly marked. Everything is written down plainly. If you thought it was too expensive, you shouldn’t have ordered! The prices are all there. The total is 4,325 yuan. I’ll drop the change for you. Just give me a round 4,300!"
Another tall, middle-aged man snorted coldly and said, "You’re not trying to dine and dash, are you?"
After taking the menu from the boss and looking at the prices, the middle-aged man nearly jumped up. "You switched the menu! This is fraud! What century is this, you’re still running a clip joint? Believe it or not, I’ll call and report you!"
"So you really are trying to dine and dash?" the chubby boss sneered. "If you don’t have money, you should’ve said so earlier. If you can’t afford it, we didn’t force you to eat here! And now you’re threatening us? You want to file a complaint? Go ahead! Want me to give you the complaint hotline number?"
"Cut the crap and pay up!" the other man shouted impatiently. "You can scan the code here. Alipay or WeChat? Cash works too!"
The middle-aged man roared furiously, "These prices are extortion! I’m not paying! Bring out your other menu."
The middle-aged man’s family also came over—an old man, an old woman, a child, and a woman.
After hearing what the man said, they were all furious, declaring that the restaurant owner was black-hearted.
Just then, several burly-looking men walked in and surrounded the family, making it clear they weren’t going anywhere without paying.
Seeing this, Yang Xiaofu looked completely unfazed. She giggled and asked Wang Chenning, "Can you calculate how much our meal is going to cost?"
"My math is terrible, I can’t figure it out!" Wang Chenning replied with a smile. Then, he slammed his hand hard on the table. "Boss, the check! Hurry up and calculate how much our meal costs!"
