Chapter 134: Did anyone call for an arborists

Kanan politely declined to be a punching bag for the next hour or two and instead redirected the conversation back to the Flesh Plant they needed to get rid of.

Of course, Nala didn’t like that, but she just sat down, eyeing Kanan like a piece of candy that she was going to eat later.

"The team is already prepared to go on this journey. Kanan, is there anything we need to be worried about out there? Any hidden dangers that may lurk in the old ruins of the Typhon Tribe?" Elder Lars asked

"Not to my knowledge. When I killed the Verminus Plant’s mind, I saw every creature connected to it, dead and alive, have that connection severed. Now, I’m not saying that there won’t be any danger, but danger in the form of the Verminus Plant is unlikely."

"What of the Flesh Plant?" Elder Trena wondered

"That, I cannot say. It’s possible that its body will react to threats, sort of like an instinct, but it will have no mind and no power. That part of it was destroyed."

"Very well. We’ll tell the team to leave right away."

"Oh, oh, Kanan. Can I teach this to the warriors at the south gate?" Nala asked.

"Yeah. I don’t see an issue with that. It would help them survive, which was the point of creating this in the first place." Not only that, but Kanan was even wondering if he could create cores in his head and belly as well. But that would be for later.

"Alright everyone, let’s kill this plant."

---

The team consisted of twenty people, all of them extremely powerful. The majority of them were from the Typhon Tribe, as they knew the terrain the best, but powerful warriors from the Nemean Tribe tagged along, including great healers.

With the plains and forests safe, leaving wild animals and beasts as the main threats, there was no need for the Village to send a team this stacked. Still, they wanted to make sure nothing went wrong and ensure there were enough people to fight off whatever threat came their way.

Once everyone said their goodbyes to friends and family, they set off on their mission, eager to return with good news.

The first couple of days of their travel went without a hitch. Clear skies, no plant monsters, and enough wildlife to feed anyone who decided to make a meal instead of eating the jerky that was packed for them.

Once the third day struck, the clouds darkened, and rain began to fall. Luckily, there were people among the group who could use their abilities to make shelter or protect everyone from the rain.

This, however, wasn’t the least of their problems.

Beasts began to attack them now that the Verminus Plant wasn’t the Alpha around these parts anymore.

Unfortunately for the beasts, however, they were slaughtered like livestock, while the smart ones fled, their animal instincts kicking into overdrive.

"It’s nice to see that nature is taking back control of the area. Even the plains that were burnt to a crisp from our battle with the Verminus Plant have been able to heal."

"I agree. We’ve been so focused on trying to take down this monster plant that I had forgotten what it was like to venture off into nature and stand my ground against a ferocious beast!"

"Haha! You speak the truth, my friend! Let me tell you of this one time my brother and I ran into a Komodo Snake and were nearly eaten alive."

If you had put all of them in a room together a year ago, they would have fought each other to the death. But now, both tribes, Typhon and Nemean, were getting along like friends, like family.

There were still those who didn’t like the arrangement, but every day, those complaints got less and less.

---

After traveling, the team finally reached the Old Typhon Village; they set out to look for the plant. Of course, some of the Typhon Tribesmen couldn’t help but get nostalgic after seeing their old home, but they knew that they were on a mission and didn’t let their feelings override their duty.

"I remember Shaman Kanan mentioning that the plant might be underground." A warrior spoke

"Then let’s start digging, everyone!"

They moved all of the rubble to the side and began to dig in a few spots. It would take some time since the village was decently sized, but with warriors who could sense plants with them, that time would lessen.

It took them two hours to find where the plant was, and once they did, one of the Typhon warriors opened a massive hole in the ground, revealing the large, grotesque flesh plant.

"That’s extremely disgusting."

"So this is the body of the monster that took the lives of our people." The Nemean Warrior set his hand ablaze with his blessing. "I’ll burn you to a crisp!"

The plant was utterly destroyed by the team, leaving no piece of it behind. Thanks to the Chlorokenetics, they were able to locate all of its roots and burn them to ashes as well.

This mission was a quick success with no casualties in the slightest, something everyone hadn’t expierenced in a long while.

As they prepared to leave, filling back up the hole before departure, everyone decided to clear out the rubble from the village.

The Typhon Tribesmen had asked for the Nemean Tribesmen to head back home to relay the information, but they stayed instead, helping out because they were now one people.

Deciding to celebrate, they all enjoyed themselves, going back home the following day to inform the council of their successful mission.

---

"So, I have to go now," Kanan explained to his children.

They were looking at him with confused expressions because they couldn’t understand him, but Kanan had tears flowing down his cheek, not willing to separate from them so soon.

"Kanan, you’re going to be late," Glena said worriedly

"You’ll see them when you get back, Kanan. So don’t worry." Though Viola hoped that would cheer him up, it didn’t. So, she stole his lips and made out with him for a minute straight.

"Wow, that was great. Care to do that again?" Kanan smiled

"Oh yeah."

"No, you’re leaving. Make sure to look after yourself, okay? Eat your food, get proper sleep, and if you come across danger that you can’t handle, run away. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Aunt Glena. I’ll be fine, don’t worry."

"Oh, Kanan. I always worry."

After giving him a goodbye kiss, Kanan left his home.
