Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction
Chapter 141: What if we just stare at them.
A canoe was given to Carl that allowed him to take Kanan and his friends to the docks. As they traveled on the boat, many people couldn’t help but stare at them; the sight of outsiders was an extremely rare occurrence.
Reaching the docks, Carl led them in the direction they needed to go, walking past people who continued to stare.
"Heh, I must be handsome, huh?" Terin smiled, winking at some of the beautiful women who looked their way.
"You forgot an idiot as well," Lopis muttered under her breath.
"Terin, they are staring at us because it’s strange to see outsiders. It’s like when the Typhon Tribe was absorbed into our own. Our people wouldn’t stop staring as well." Reda explained.
"But I am handsome, right?"
"Yes, if you weren’t standing next to Kanan, that is." Fera teased.
"Haha! So I am handsome!"
Kanan shook his head while Fera and Reda chuckled to themselves.
"Mommy, who are those people?" A child asked
"Don’t look, son. We don’t know what they’re here for."
Turning around, Carl apologized. "They are used to outsiders."
Kanan brushed it off. It wasn’t a big deal. He understood that it was natural to be curious. "Don’t worry about it."
"Thank you."
Walking over to the elevator, everyone got inside, and Carl pulled the lever that took them to the second floor. Once they got out, it was a straight shot to the Council Hall, according to Carl.
"Wait here. I have to speak with them first."
Everyone nodded and waited until Carl returned.
"This place is awesome!" Terin exclaimed. "I want to move here!"
"I won’t deny that this place is very cool. The difference in scenery and nature really makes this place feel homey." Kanan agreed
"Alue would love it here. I bet he would be one of the first people to jump on the opportunity to move to a place like this." Reda smiled
"Him and all of the other chlorokinetics and herbalists," Lopis added
"Haha, yeah."
As they all continued talking amongst each other, a group of four tall, muscular young men approached them, sinister smiles etched across their faces as if they were superior to the six Nemean Tribesmen.
"So you six hail from the legendary Nemean Tribe, huh? I thought that place was just a children’s tale." The Tallest man grinned
"And what do we have here? It seems that the Nemean Tribe has produced some beauties, huh?"
’Oh great, the classic tough guy encounter. I guess this is universal, no matter what era you live in.’
"Haha! Hello! I’m Terin, a warrior from the Nemean Tribe!" He held out his hand for a shake.
The tall Helsik Tribesman looked Terin up and down before laughing and swatting his hand away.
"I have no interest in speaking to a weakling. You three, come with us. We’ll give you something to remember our tribe by."
"What did you say?" Reda’s hands were inching closer to her knives. In four moves, she could kill each of them in a second, and the more they spoke, the more she felt like doing so.
"Heh, look at this bitch. Thinking she’s anything special. If I tell you to come with me, then you listen, do you understand? I don’t like hitting women, but I will if I have to get the bitch to shut up and comply."
Fera could only scoff. She walked away from the men, not wanting this to escalate into something that could put them on bad terms with the Helsik Tribe.
A shorter, and a bit chubbier, man grabbed Fera’s arm, stopping her from moving. "Did he say you could leave?"
Without waiting for a response, Kanan cleanly cut off the man’s arm, then palmed him in the chest, breaking a few bones.
"Arghhhh!!!"
"What the...You fucker! Do you know who you’ve done messed with?!" The three remaining men activated their abilities, their tattoos glowing a vibrant green and brown.
"It’s you who doesn’t know who you’ve messed with." Kanan released his power. Its intensity shook the platform, causing birds to fly out of the trees, people close by to stumble to the ground, and others to wonder what was going on.
The men were shocked–no, scared. They knew that they fucked up, and they knew it could cost them their lives. They didn’t want to die, not yet. But they were so scared that they couldn’t even beg for forgiveness.
Even Kanan’s friends were shocked by his power. They had known him for a while and knew what his full power was. But this, this was different. It eclipsed his previous strength, and it made them look like nothing in comparison to his strength.
"What is going on out here?!" Carl asked as he ran back outside after feeling an intense pressure.
"These people were harassing my friends, even putting their hands on them," Kanan explained
Carl glanced at the perpetrators and shook his head. "You four can’t even keep out of trouble, to the point where you mess with our guests! You were warned that something like this would happen one day. Blame no one but yourself!"
Turning back to Kanan, Carl bowed. "I apologize for their actions. I hope this doesn’t stain the image of our tribe in your eyes."
"It’s fine. There are always bad apples in a bunch."
"Thank you. The elders are ready to speak with you six. And as for you," Carl turned around. "Let’s get that arm reattached before it’s too late!"
After parting with Carl, Kanan and his friends entered the Council Hall. The layout was similar to the council room back at the Nemean Village, with a round table and all.
A striking difference was the number of people on the council. The Nemean Tribe had seven people: five elders, a shaman, and the chief. The Helsik Tribe only had four: the chief and three elders.
Well, in this case, a Chieftess.
"Welcome to our tribe, warriors from the Nemean Tribe. I’m sure your journey was a long one." The Chieftess smiled.
"Thank you for welcoming us." Kanan bowed, showing his respect. "We have come with news that could help your people."
The Chieftess raised her hand, stopping Kanan from speaking any further. "Before you begin, tell me, Nemean Warrior. Has the Uprooter Plant infected you before?"
