Chapter 373: Chapter 335: You’ve Linked Senses with Silver Armor
"You found a way?"
Hearing Windsor, Alex strode forward.
Lanuo was confused. ’Remove something from Ningning’s body?’
"Let’s give it a try."
Windsor said, taking out a silver bracelet, "I got this at Sky Watch Point several years ago. I don’t know if it will still work."
She had returned to Zone 9 specifically to get this.
Alex gave a slight nod, sat down beside Gu Ning, lifted the blanket, and gently took her into his arms.
Standing to the side, Lanuo craned his neck to watch, his curiosity piqued. He saw Windsor unbutton the young female’s cotton pajama top, revealing the skin around her collarbone, and reflexively averted his gaze. But when his eyes caught a silver glint, they froze. ’What is that on Ningning?’
Windsor undid the last button, pulled the pajama top down, and revealed the full extent of the Silver Armor covering Gu Ning’s body.
Lanuo moved closer, his eyes wide with amazement as he stared at the thing on the young female’s body.
The layer of silver material stretched from below her collarbone to an inch below her chest. If one didn’t look closely, it resembled a small tube top.
"This is...?" Lanuo asked in astonishment.
Windsor’s fingers brushed over the spot on Gu Ning’s chest. "It’s technology from Sky Watch Point. The material is Flowing Gold, which is also unique to Sky Watch Point."
Lanuo was taken aback. "Flowing Gold?"
That name sounded familiar. He had a small vial of Flowing Gold in his lab, one he had gone to great lengths to acquire.
He hadn’t been able to figure it out, so he’d set it aside for the time being.
"Armor made of Flowing Gold?" Lanuo reached out to touch it, but Alex caught his wrist, stopping him.
"Wait until we get it off. You can study it all you want then," Alex said.
Lanuo saw Windsor watching him with a smile and sheepishly pulled his hand back. "Force of habit, force of habit."
"Cough, cough..."
Gu Ning groggily awoke amidst a fit of violent coughing. Alex patted her back to soothe her, and Lanuo immediately mixed a cup of cough-suppressing, phlegm-clearing medicine and handed it over.
Gu Ning took a few sips from the cup Alex held for her. The warm medicine had a bittersweet taste, and her throat felt much better after she drank it.
"Feeling any better?"
Hearing the familiar, gentle voice, Gu Ning turned her head. Her eyes lit up when she saw the person sitting beside her. "Win... Windsor!"
She thought Windsor had left again.
Windsor stroked her hair and felt her forehead. "Your temperature has dropped a bit. It seems this kid’s medicine is working after all."
Hearing Windsor’s complimentary tone, Lanuo straightened his posture, a perfect smile on his face, ready to meet the young female’s gaze.
But unfortunately, Ningning’s attention was entirely on Windsor. She didn’t look at him.
Windsor said, "First, let’s get this thing off of you."
Gu Ning followed Windsor’s gaze and looked down. She didn’t know when her clothes had been unbuttoned, revealing the layer of Silver Armor underneath.
The thing was so flush against her skin she felt nothing, to the point she’d almost forgotten about it.
Seeing her clothes wide open, Gu Ning finally noticed the other people in the hospital room. Besides Alex and Windsor, there was only Doctor Lano.
Her eyes met Lanuo’s.
Lanuo composed his expression, walked over to her medical equipment to check it, then walked intently behind the nearby curtain to check on the bird, trying to look like a doctor doing his rounds.
Gu Ning watched the busy figure behind the curtain for a moment before looking away.
Windsor held the silver bracelet and brushed her fingers over it a few times. Then, she pulled a square instrument about half the size of her palm from her pocket and began scanning it over Gu Ning’s chest.
A moment later, the Silver Armor began to flow.
Gu Ning and Alex held their breath, staring intently at the Silver Armor. The corner of the nearby curtain was lifted, and Lanuo peeked out from behind it, secretly watching what was happening.
The flowing Silver Armor was drawn toward the bracelet. Windsor moved the bracelet slowly and steadily, pulling it backward bit by bit.
Gu Ning felt a very strange sensation. Perhaps because the Silver Armor was attached so closely, it felt like a layer of her own skin was being peeled off. The feeling was intense but not painful, yet she still subconsciously wanted to resist this sense of her own flesh being stripped away.
Alex held her hands down and hugged her a little tighter, soothing her in a low voice. "It’s okay, it’ll be over soon."
Windsor spoke gently to Gu Ning. "You’ve formed a sympathetic link with the Silver Armor. The removal will be a bit uncomfortable, but it won’t harm you. Don’t worry."
Gu Ning nodded, grabbing Alex’s hands, which were wrapped around her waist, and fought back the urge to resist.
The Silver Armor was gradually peeled away by the bracelet. When about half of it was off, the smoothly flowing metal suddenly began to surge violently. Gu Ning felt a heavy pressure on her chest, as if a rough hand was grabbing and kneading her, yanking the half-removed armor back and pressing it onto her chest again.
With a crisp SNAP, the bracelet in Windsor’s hand shattered, the fragments scattering across the blanket.
"..."
The room was silent for a few seconds before Windsor sighed softly. "It still failed."
Gu Ning looked at the dull fragments of the bracelet, then raised her head to meet Alex’s gaze, her expression worried.
’Is this thing going to be stuck on me forever?’
"Don’t be afraid." Alex pulled her clothes together and buttoned them up. "We’ll find another way."
"It broke?"
Lanuo emerged from behind the curtain and picked up a piece of the bracelet to examine it closely.
"Child, get some rest. I’ll go look for another solution. We’ll solve this." Windsor patted Gu Ning’s head.
"Okay." Gu Ning nodded.
With Windsor here, she felt an inexplicable sense of peace.
Windsor picked up the bracelet fragments, glanced at Philinos, and then left the room.
"Chirp?" ’It actually broke?’
On the hospital roof, Ah Mo looked at the fragments in Windsor’s hand, prodded them with his beak, and chirped, "There’s no energy left."
"Logically, it shouldn’t have failed," Ah Mo said, perplexed.
Windsor thought for a moment, then said, "Let’s ask Little Mei."
"Chirp!" Ah Mo said. "My dear, do we have to call Little Mei? Why don’t we just figure it out ourselves?"
Just asking to borrow her people this time got him a harsh scolding. He really didn’t want to get yelled at again.
"Ningning and the others can’t stay here for long. The Shielding Device can easily fail while they’re on the move. We have to deal with the Silver Armor on her before they leave."
Ah Mo chirped, "The little one’s illness should clear up in seven or eight days. Why don’t we contact the Beast Alliance?"
"Contacting the Beast Alliance is the same as exposing her. If that happens, we’ll have no choice but to send her back to the Central Green Area, and she can’t go there right now."
"Chirp." ’Her identity really can’t be exposed.’
Windsor shook the fragments in her hand. "There is one other way."
Ah Mo tilted his head slightly. "Chirp?"
Windsor said, "Those kids from the Heavenly Beast Clan probably haven’t left yet. We can go talk to them directly."
Without a second thought, Ah Mo ducked his head, picked up the terminal hanging around his neck with his beak, and placed it in Windsor’s hand.
’Talk to them? If they were people you could talk to, the Beast Alliance and Sky Watch Point wouldn’t be in this situation today.’
