"Heh." A cold, mocking laugh came from Marshal Mei on the other end of the terminal.

Ah Mo’s wings trembled as he began to chirp a greeting to Marshal Mei, trying to say, "Hi, Little—"

"If you two are getting old, you should go back to Zone 9 to retire. Stop running all over the place." Marshal Mei’s first words were a critical hit.

Ah Mo chirped sternly, "Little Mei, you are not to speak to Windsor like that!"

A light rain was falling from the sky, and the air was damp and cold. Steam rose from the bodies of the Wolf Pack as they stood in the courtyard. Only two wolves followed the alpha into the villa.

The moment the massive gray wolf stepped through the door, he transformed into a tall, human figure.

The alpha wolf casually slicked back his wet hair, took a coat from his subordinate, and draped it over his shoulders before striding toward the living room.

Several Beastmen were already waiting in the living room.

Seeing the alpha wolf push open the door and enter, the group all rose to their feet.

"Boss."

"Chief."

Alihot gave them a slight nod and sat in the main seat in the center, listening to the important reports from his lieutenants.

"Chief, we found that a Border Collie left Zone 5 without going through checkpoint inspection."

Alihot raised his eyes. "A Border Collie?"

The subordinate giving the report handed him a file.

Alihot picked it up and glanced at it. "It’s him. The one who’s always with that Black Wolf."

"Yes," the subordinate said. "He left Zone 5 yesterday morning before dawn. We tailed him for a while and found that he hurriedly boarded a train to the 12th District."

"The 12th District?" Alihot put down the file. "Who else was with him?"

The subordinate replied, "A dozen or so wolves were secretly escorting him when he left Zone 5, but he boarded the train alone."

Alihot’s gray-blue eyes flickered.

"Our men followed him to the 12th District, but for some reason, the Twelfth District Railway Station was under much tighter security than usual. There were Military Department personnel patrolling and guarding everywhere. We couldn’t risk exposure, so we quickly lost the trail."

The other lieutenants exchanged glances.

"I heard the Heavenly Beast Clan appeared in the 12th District. That’s probably why the security at the railway station has been tightened," one of the lieutenants spoke up.

Alihot was already aware of this. He looked at one of the lieutenants and said, "I asked you to find out which military district handled the Heavenly Beast Clan matter. Did you find anything?"

The lieutenant hesitated. "The Military Department hasn’t had any recent operations in the 12th District. However, our people there sent word that they saw soldiers from the Fifth Military District in the 12th District."

"The Fifth Military District." Alihot leaned back, clasping his hands over his stomach. He murmured, "Why would it be the Fifth Military District?"

"How many?" he asked.

"At least one main force."

Alihot slowly sat up straight.

The lieutenant said, "The Fifth Military District may be in charge of Zone 9 and the Tenth District, but it has the largest number of Bird Clan members. It wouldn’t be surprising for the Military Department to assign them to deal with the Heavenly Beast Clan."

Alihot’s cold gaze swept over his lieutenants. "Half a month ago, most of the Fifth Military District’s forces were deployed to the Sea Area. The 12th District could have handled a few measly Heavenly Beast Clan members on its own. Something else must be going on."

The lieutenants fell silent.

The Military Department wasn’t like the Beast Alliance. Even if they took over all of Zone 5, it was still difficult to infiltrate. The people they placed inside the Military Department had to be replaced frequently, and the replacements couldn’t attain high-ranking positions in a short time. As a result, the intelligence they received was often delayed.

Acquiring classified information was even harder.

Alihot knew perfectly well that the Military Department was a tough nut to crack—not as easy to manipulate as the Beast Alliance. He lowered his gaze to the file in front of him, then pushed it toward his lieutenants. "Find out what he’s doing in the 12th District."

This Border Collie was close to the Black Wolf, Alex. Alex’s team hadn’t moved since they arrived in the 12th District. The Border Collie’s trip to the 12th District had to be related to Alex.
