Chapter 1446: Chapter 614: Truly a Freebie! (Barely Combined 2-in-1, 5500 Words)
"That’s just how things are with the Slaanesh." Laine’s face turned dark as he inhaled the scent of his wife’s hair, then asked, "Any other intelligence?"
"Most of the ritual tools of the Association of Pleasure Seekers are Slaanesh-style symbols or idols. Snakes and reptiles are also frequent guests at gatherings; common patterns include chains, masks, belts, jewelry, and studs. They seem to pierce their bodies as acts of devotion and fanaticism to Slaanesh. The more piercings, and the heavier the studs, the more pious and fanatical they are considered." Surya shook her head: "Aside from that, it can be confirmed that after two bases were completely destroyed, the remaining followers in Brunswick have collectively gone silent. Ollica and I have investigated several places without any findings; they’ve all gone into hiding."
Surya leaned on her husband’s shoulder and closed her eyes: "Ollica’s guess is that Brunswick was never the place for the Association of Pleasure Seekers to execute their masquerade plan. They were merely here to scout and confirm targets. The real plan should still be in Nuer."
"Hmm." Laine nodded, considering for a moment before asking, "Do you think Ollica’s guess is accurate?"
"At the very least, she understands Chaos and the Slaanesh Cult better than any of us." Surya hesitated slightly but then said, "At the very least... she’s always been on our side. From that perspective, she can be trusted."
Laine instinctively felt that Surya might be hiding something about Ollica or at least wasn’t telling him the whole story.
However, from Laine’s point of view, Ollica was completely trustworthy because he had already branded her with a Spirit Rune. So he didn’t say more and shifted his attention to Sylvia: "Sylvie?"
"La—Laine?" The Head Maid was listening intently. When Laine addressed her so abruptly, Sylvia blushed intensely and her tone became nervous: "What is it?"
Recently, the Head Maid had started "pre-marriage training" at Surya’s request, making her exceptionally shy. If it weren’t for a certain Dark Elf that frightened her, she wouldn’t be staying in the master bedroom at night.
"I’ve communicated with the Vamil Prince-Elector about Mr. Vincent’s affairs." Laine smiled, speaking quite casually: "If nothing unexpected happens, Mr. Vincent will meet us in Nuer when we arrive!"
"Oh!" Sylvia was stunned. First, she stared up at Laine and Surya in disbelief, but the serious look on Laine’s face and the warmth in Surya’s expression made her realize that this was no joke.
"Thank you." The usually stern and proud Head Maid finally lowered her head, a wave of emotion flooding over her. Sylvia could only clench her hands tightly, struggling to hold back her excitement; she hadn’t seen her father in over a decade.
Surya smiled and watched it all unfold. Suddenly, the female knight took hold of Sylvia’s hand and playfully said: "Sylvie, just saying thank you isn’t enough. You have to take action!"
"Wha—what kind of action?!" Sylvia’s entire face turned beet red, and she shyly lowered her head almost into her chest: "Madam... I..."
"Just as I taught you," Surya teased. "I just taught you earlier, yet you’ve already forgotten?"
"I, I understand..." Sylvia’s face was bright red, but she nodded decisively, clearly intending to do something.
The Head Maid gave Laine a quick peck on the cheek, as light as a dragonfly touching water, then blushed deeply and dashed out of the room.
Laine shook his head with a wry smile. He hadn’t intended to act benevolent in exchange for something; he merely felt he should do something for this diligent Head Maid. But what was done was done, and he had to accept it.
The Duke leaned back on a pillow and casually said: "My lady, who do you think will win tomorrow?"
Surya looked at her husband with amusement, playfully scolding: "Laine, my husband, do I look like a wizard to you?"
"Hahaha!" Hearing this, Laine laughed and held his wife in his arms: "Surya?"
"Hmm?" A mischievous glint flitted across Surya’s sea-blue eyes, and the female knight softly asked: "What’s the matter?"
"It’s been hard on you these past few days." Laine felt a bit apologetic. Even though it was a division of labor, he still felt some guilt. He and Amelia attended various banquets while Surya spent considerable effort investigating the Slaanesh Cult with Ollica.
"You really think it’s been hard for me?" Surya looked up and gazed at Laine.
"Really."
"Then show some sincerity and enthusiasm, or else I’ll be upset, you know! My husband running around with his little maid for several days in a row, tossing his wife aside as if nothing happened—I can’t just pretend that didn’t happen, can I?" Surya flashed a dangerously bright smile, enough to light up the entire room: "Laine?"
"Hahaha~" Laine laughed.
That’s not hard to do, is it?
... Here’s the line of sincerity and enthusiasm ...
The next day, the Imperial Royal Wizard Academy, Bright Academy, and the Light Pyramid.
The Imperial Royal Chief Grand Wizard’s tournament, "Night of a Thousand Laws," officially commenced here.
The top of the Light Pyramid is a place similar to a large arena, constructed entirely of pure marble. Both the stages and spectator seating are made of marble, reinforced by layers of Light Magic handwork, rendering the architecture extremely sturdy and highly resistant to magical impacts.
