Chapter 851: Chapter 850: Illness (2)
The pediatrician they had arranged was already waiting.
The nurse who knew Damian Sinclair at the hospital quickly came up to them and led them to the pediatrician’s office.
"Dr. Miller, Mr. Sinclair and his party have arrived," the nurse said, opening the door.
"Already here?" Dr. Miller immediately got up, walked over, and pulled open a curtain in the office, revealing a hospital bed. "Mr. Sinclair, please put the child on the bed first, and let me give her a check-up."
"Okay." Damian carefully placed the little girl on the bed and stepped aside.
Bella Acker approached and said, "Dr. Miller, I already took her temperature on the way here, it’s 39.8 degrees. She was ill before, which weakened her immune system. She gets a high fever whenever she’s sick."
"Okay, I understand," Dr. Miller nodded, putting on the stethoscope to start examining the little girl.
Bella pressed her lips together, feeling a strong sense of guilt.
Knowing the little girl had a weak immune system, she shouldn’t have let her play outside today. Every time she gets sick, it takes a long time for her to recover.
Bella was both guilty and anxious at this moment, but perhaps because of Damian being beside her, she felt urgent but not panicked.
After the examination, Dr. Miller said, "It’s just a small cold causing the fever, nothing else. But her immunity is weak, and prolonged high fever could harm her health. Let’s start with an IV to reduce the fever first."
"Understood," Damian said, "Dr. Miller, are there any good ways to enhance immunity for such young children?"
"The best way is regular exercise and paying attention to diet. Don’t let the child eat too much fried or fast food. Instead, she should eat more fish, meat, beans, eggs, and dairy products. You can also get her some children’s vitamins. Most importantly, regular exercise is key to building physical fitness step by step," Dr. Miller smiled slightly and said, "Mr. Sinclair, there’s no need to worry too much. Kids often get bumps, illnesses, and fevers. Just be careful and manage it well."
Saying this, he walked over to the desk and wrote a prescription.
Damian took the prescription and said, "I’ll go pay and get the medicine. You stay here with Talia."
"Okay," Bella nodded.
Damian followed the nurse to pay and get the medicine, while Bella stayed with the little girl.
The little girl opened her eyes and said in a soft voice, "Mommy, I want some water."
"Alright, wait a moment, Mommy will get it for you." Bella took a paper cup from the office water cooler, filled it with warm water, and brought it to the little girl’s mouth, "Talia, you can drink some water now."
The little girl held the cup with her hands and drank more than half before turning her head away.
Dr. Miller said, "The fever makes her throat dry, so letting her drink water is good."
"Yes," Bella said, "Thank you, Dr. Miller."
"Healing the sick is our duty as doctors, no need to thank me, Mrs. Sinclair."
Bella paused, then explained, "Actually, you might have misunderstood, I am not President Sinclair’s wife."
"Oh?" Dr. Miller looked surprised, his expression slightly awkward, "Sorry, I thought..."
Bella smiled and shook her head, "It’s okay, my surname is Acker, you can call me Allie, Dr. Miller."
"Ms. Acker, I’m really sorry," Dr. Miller insisted on apologizing, "I hope I didn’t cause you any trouble."
