Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System
Chapter 421 Meeting With Wolf Queen
A few days later, after settling every important matter within the Southern Argenti Forest, Vikram finally decided it was time to leave.
Before his departure, he visited each of his wives one last time. They had already known this day would come, yet none of them wanted to see him leave so soon. They reminded him to be careful, not to overwork himself, and to return safely. After spending a quiet morning with them, Vikram said his farewells and made his way toward the entrance of the Mist Tribe.
Waiting there were the Mist King and the Sand King.
The Mist King looked at his grandson with calm eyes before speaking. "The road to the Central Fenrir Kingdom is long. It is unlike any journey you’ve taken before. Be careful."
Vikram nodded. "I will."
The Mist King smiled faintly. "Then go."
Without another word, Vikram turned around and began walking north, leaving the Southern Argenti Forest behind.
---
During the first few days of his journey, Vikram traveled through the territories that now belonged to the Southern Argenti Forest. Whenever he passed a major pack, the local kings and queens personally came out to welcome him. They reported the progress of rebuilding their territories after the recent conflicts. Villages were being restored, hunting grounds had reopened, and the scattered werewolf tribes were gradually returning to normal life.
Vikram inspected each territory himself. Seeing everything progressing according to plan, he offered a few instructions before continuing his journey.
Soon, the familiar lands of the Southern Argenti Forest disappeared behind him.
Days slowly turned into weeks.
The scenery around him changed as he traveled farther north. Dense forests gave way to rocky hills, wide rivers, and vast plains. The roads became lonelier, and encounters with other werewolves grew increasingly rare.
For the first time in a long while, Vikram was traveling completely alone. There were no companions walking beside him. No conversations around the campfire at night. No familiar laughter. No one to share the silence.
As the days passed, an unfamiliar loneliness gradually settled into his heart. He found himself thinking about his wives more often than he expected. He missed their voices. Their smiles. Even their playful arguments.
The longer the journey continued, the more restless he became. Small inconveniences that he would normally ignore now irritated him for no reason at all. His patience gradually grew thinner, and he often found himself in a foul mood without understanding why.
Whenever a powerful beast blocked his path, he no longer bothered avoiding it. Instead, he welcomed the fight. His attacks were heavier, more violent than necessary, often ending the battle within moments. Afterward, he would simply continue walking as though nothing had happened.
At the same time, another change quietly surfaced within him. Without his wives accompanying him, he began to feel an increasing sense of restlessness deep within himself. It wasn’t merely loneliness, but an instinctive longing that grew stronger with each passing day.
Vikram himself couldn’t understand what was happening. He only knew that both his temper and the strange restlessness within him were becoming harder to suppress as the journey continued.
Even so, he never considered turning back. His destination remained unchanged.
The Central Fenrir Kingdom.
No matter how long the journey took or what dangers awaited him along the way, he intended to meet the Wolf Queen and complete the mission given to him by the System.
---
After several more days of traveling, Vikram finally reached the borders of the Central Fenrir Kingdom.
Standing atop a hill, he looked down at the land before him.
Unlike the Southern Argenti Forest, where countless tribes were scattered throughout the wilderness, the Central Fenrir Kingdom was far more organized and prosperous. Wide stone roads connected thriving towns and villages.
Merchant caravans traveled back and forth under the protection of royal patrols. Watchtowers stood at regular intervals, each guarded by elite werewolf warriors whose auras were noticeably stronger than those found in the outer forests.
The deeper Vikram traveled into the kingdom, the more prosperous everything became.
Eventually, the capital appeared on the horizon.
A magnificent city stood proudly at the heart of the kingdom. Towering silver-white walls surrounded the entire city, rising several dozen meters into the sky.
Countless banners bearing the emblem of the royal family fluttered in the wind. Massive gates forged from black steel stood wide open as warriors in gleaming armor carefully inspected everyone entering and leaving. Powerful spiritual formations were engraved throughout the walls, silently protecting the capital from any external threat.
This was the heart of the werewolf race, the City of Fenrir. For thousands of years, it had served as the residence of every Wolf Queen and the political center of all werewolves.
Vikram quietly observed the city for a moment before walking toward the entrance. Although he was now the King of the Southern Argenti Forest, he had no intention of drawing unnecessary attention to himself. He concealed his aura and dressed like an ordinary traveler. He neither announced his identity nor displayed any royal insignia.
His only goal was simple: meet the Wolf Queen, complete the System’s mission, then continue whatever awaited him afterward.
The guards briefly glanced at him before allowing him to enter without difficulty.
The moment Vikram stepped through the enormous city gates, a lively atmosphere greeted him. The streets were filled with werewolves from every corner of the world. Merchants called out to customers while craftsmen displayed finely forged weapons and armor. Children happily ran through the streets as patrols maintained perfect order throughout the city. Everything reflected the wealth and strength of the Central Fenrir Kingdom.
Vikram had barely taken a few steps when a soft voice suddenly called out behind him.
"Your Majesty."
He stopped walking and turned around.
Standing a short distance away was a young maid dressed in elegant white robes embroidered with silver threads. Her appearance was graceful, and the royal crest of the Central Fenrir Kingdom was embroidered upon her uniform. She walked toward him before respectfully bowing.
Vikram instinctively looked around. "Are you... talking to me?"
The maid raised her head and smiled politely. "Yes, Your Majesty. Her Majesty has been expecting your arrival. If you would please follow me."
A trace of surprise flashed across Vikram’s face. He had intentionally hidden both his identity and his aura. He hadn’t informed anyone that he would be visiting the Central Fenrir Kingdom. Yet somehow... The Wolf Queen already knew he had arrived.
Although countless questions appeared in his mind, Vikram didn’t ask them. Instead, he simply nodded. "Lead the way."
The maid turned gracefully and began walking. Vikram quietly followed behind her.
She led him away from the bustling streets and toward the center of the city, where the magnificent royal palace overlooked everything around it. The palace itself was even more impressive than the city. Its towering white walls seemed to shine beneath the sunlight, while countless ancient runes were carved into every pillar and staircase. Elite royal guards stood at every entrance, each radiating an aura powerful enough to command respect.
Despite seeing an unfamiliar man following the royal maid, none of the guards questioned them. It was obvious they had already received instructions.
After entering the palace, the maid continued leading Vikram through a series of grand corridors. The floors were polished white stone that reflected the light from crystal chandeliers hanging overhead. Beautiful paintings depicting the history of the werewolf race decorated the walls, while elegant statues of former Wolf Queens stood silently along the hallways.
They passed peaceful courtyards filled with blooming flowers, clear ponds, and ancient trees that were said to have existed since the kingdom was founded. The deeper they walked into the palace, the quieter everything became.
Eventually, they arrived before two enormous silver doors covered with intricate carvings of countless wolves bowing before a single majestic wolf standing beneath the full moon.
The maid stopped. She gently placed both hands against the doors. With a low rumble, the massive doors slowly opened. She stepped aside and respectfully lowered her head.
"Your Majesty. The Wolf Queen is waiting inside."
Vikram took a slow breath before stepping through the entrance. The doors behind him remained open as he entered the enormous royal hall.
The hall was vast enough to accommodate hundreds of people. Massive white pillars stretched toward the ceiling, each engraved with ancient runes. Sunlight streamed through tall crystal windows, illuminating the polished marble floor.
At the far end of the hall stood a magnificent white throne.
Seated upon it was a woman whose very presence commanded absolute respect. Her long, snow-white hair flowed gracefully down to her waist. A simple yet elegant white royal gown draped over her slender figure, embroidered with silver patterns that shimmered faintly beneath the light. Her golden eyes calmly rested upon Vikram. They were neither cold nor warm. They simply watched him with quiet composure.
An invisible pressure filled the hall. It wasn’t overwhelming or oppressive. Instead, it was the natural dignity of someone who had stood at the summit of the werewolf race for countless years.
Without anyone introducing her... without any royal announcement... anyone who saw her would immediately know her identity.
She was the Wolf Queen, the supreme ruler of every werewolf.
Vikram walked forward at a steady pace until he stopped several meters before the throne. He respectfully lowered his head.
"Greetings, Your Majesty. I have come because—"
Before he could finish speaking, the Wolf Queen slowly raised one delicate hand. The simple gesture carried unquestionable authority. Vikram immediately fell silent.
The Wolf Queen then shifted her gaze toward everyone standing inside the hall. "Leave us."
Her voice wasn’t loud. Yet every word echoed clearly throughout the chamber.
The maids and royal guards simultaneously bowed. "As you command, Your Majesty."
Without the slightest hesitation, they quietly withdrew from the hall. The young maid who had guided Vikram out of the city stepped outside last. Once everyone had left, she gently closed the enormous silver doors. With a deep metallic sound, they slowly shut before being sealed from the outside. Until the Wolf Queen gave another order, no one would dare disturb them.
Within moments, the vast royal hall became completely silent.
Only two people remained inside.
Vikram and the Wolf Queen.
