Chapter 546 - 299: Return of the Dragon Knight

  • Next Chapter

The members of the Hestia Clan ordered the Law Enforcers to go up and provide support. They could not allow Baron Constantin to kill Elder Pence.

The elders of the Old Blood Clans and the higher-ups of the Law Enforcement Organization gave the same order.

But this time, the Law Enforcers didn’t respond as they had before. They simply watched the primitive slaughter on the cliff with indifference, their expressions complex.

The Griffin Knights still wanted to charge forward, but the Lion-eyed Knights blocked them, their gazes fixed on the Dragon Knight on the cliff.

These Lion-eyed Knights’ expressions were solemn and calm, exceptionally grave, like newly carved stone statues.

The Griffin Knights on the side glanced at one another, then lowered their weapons with a great CLATTER, watching the two men on the cliff fight like cornered beasts.

Because of the Forbidden Magic handcuffs and the suppressive effects of Traitor’s Cliff, Elder Pence could only muster ten to twenty percent of his true strength. He was completely unable to withstand the Dragon Knight’s relentless, life-for-a-life style of attack.

Fear and regret filled his heart, but his face was a mask of fury. "Baron Constantin! Do you have any idea what you’re doing?! Kill me, and not even Westminster Cathedral can save you from Judgement!"

"Do you see the Mad Dragon in the Abyss below?! If you kill me, it’s only a matter of time before the Mad Dragon breaks its seal, even if a Golden Mage descends! When that happens, you’ll be a sinner to the entire Inner Side!"

"Let me go! There’s still room for negotiation!"

The Dragon Knight just smiled, revealing blood-stained teeth. "Negotiation? When you framed me for those crimes, I don’t recall you giving me any chance to negotiate."

As he spoke, his Golden Eye looked bright and warm, and his tone was exceptionally calm.

But it was precisely this calm that drove Elder Pence to hysteria, making him blurt out a defense:

"It wasn’t my choice to frame you! It was the Chairman’s..."

The Dragon Knight didn’t reply, his attacks as savage as a wild dog’s bite.

Elder Pence turned a savage glare on the Law Enforcers. "Are you all really going to stand there and watch this madman kill me?"

"Reinforcing the Mad Dragon Seal requires my participation! If the Mad Dragon emerges, not a single one of you will escape!"

In the end, some were swayed by Elder Pence’s words and charged the Dragon Knight again, but they were all intercepted halfway by the eldest daughter.

"You want to join this little revenge drama? Fine. You’ll have to beat me first," the eldest daughter said, brandishing her spear as she began to Transform into a Dragon, her voice cold.

"Chairman Abraham, if Elder Pence dies, won’t the Mad Dragon Seal...?"

In response to Dewey’s question, Abraham just stroked his chin and said, "That does sound plausible, but I think with a Golden Mage’s abilities, it shouldn’t be too hard to grab the Golden Lion and put him to work."

The other Demon Hunters nodded. Abraham’s words had sealed Elder Pence’s fate.

Only Adam’s focus was different. "That Golden Mage has some serious power, to be able to grab the Golden Lion and put him to work."

The others: "..."

In the end, the Dragon Knight’s madness went one step further. He gripped Elder Pence’s shoulders tightly, using the explosive force from a Little Flame Demon hidden behind the elder to propel them both down toward the Abyss.

Accompanied by a roar like shattering thunder:

"I won!"

In that instant, lightning illuminated the night sky. Tens of thousands of Welsh Flying Dragons rose from the southern side of the mountains, disappearing into the clouds and rumbling with the thunder.

Below the black cliffs, Demons in the white Abyss swung their chains, letting out low growls that could have been roars or mocking laughter.

But none of these sounds could drown out a single flash of light—a flash like a Dragon’s cry, like the first ray of sun breaking through the clouds.

At this moment, even these elders of the Old Blood Clans and the high-ranking members of the Law Enforcement Organization—men accustomed to commanding the winds and rains of the Inner Side—lost their usual composure.

In that instant, only one thought ran through the minds of every Law Enforcer:

’Is this... a fucking Dragon Knight?’

They surged toward the cliff’s edge and looked into the Abyss. Below, a river of lightning churned, and fierce winds howled.

They saw a colossal shadow pass through the clouds, as if about to break through.

A Wizard shouted, "Fall back! Fall back!"

The second after the Law Enforcers retreated, a sound like a mountain-collapsing tsunami ripped through the air from beneath the clouds, like the call of a great whale from the deep sea. They saw a Giant Dragon soar up from below—it was the same Giant Dragon from Westminster Cathedral!

As the Giant Dragon flew past the cliff, a dark figure leaped from its back, landing with a spray of dust and stone.

When the dust settled, everyone looked to see the Dragon Knight standing silently amidst the thunder and gales, wreathed in flames.

He held a blade in one hand. In the other, he held a human head—the head of Elder Pence.

Facing the crowd’s stares, his Golden Eye seemed to shine even brighter, burning like kerosene.

He raised the head, and in the howling wind, he delivered a sentence, just as the Judge at the Prole Court had one month ago:

"I have killed Pence Hestia!"

After saying this, he threw Elder Pence’s head in front of the devastated members of the Hestia Clan.

Elder Pence’s eyes were still wide with fury, as if he could not rest in peace.

He had likely never imagined that he, who had once masterfully navigated the complex politics of the Inner Side, would one day be beheaded by a Bloodless—someone once despised by the entire Inner Side—in front of a crowd of Law Enforcers.

On the Dragon Knight’s body, the last remnants of the Silver Flame fluttered away like a swarm of white butterflies, revealing the heavily scarred torso beneath.

The scars crisscrossed his body, so deep that white bone was visible in the worst of them. Yet the Dragon Knight simply held his blade and directed a hysterical, almost roaring challenge at the Law Enforcers present:

"I, the Lawbreaker Baron Constantin, am standing right here! All who want to kill me, come and try!"

No one could answer.

But the Dragon Knight had already burst into wild laughter. The sound echoed far into the desolate valley, mingling with the cries of the Mad Dragon rattling its chains in the Abyss below.

The scene was like that of a demon crawling out of Hell, enduring the agony of being burned alive just to unleash its hatred upon the world.

Everyone present was profoundly shaken, thinking they were experiencing some bizarre and unreal delusion.

But then they heard the enraged curses of the Hestia Clan, the crackle of the lightning river churning beneath the clouds, and felt the sharp chill of the wind on their faces...

...and only then did they truly confirm the fact.

The Dragon Knight, Baron Constantin, in front of so many Law Enforcers, leaders of the Law Enforcement Organization, and elders of the Old Blood Clans... had just killed an elder of the Six Great Knight Clans!!!!

For five or six seconds, the world fell silent. Then, a wave of sound erupted like a thunderclap from the clouds.

"He! He killed Elder Pence! Elder Pence, a Silver Tier!"

"Elder Pence... was really... killed by the Dragon Knight!!!" some elders of the Old Blood Clans murmured in disbelief.

"Truly lawless... the legendary Dragon Knight..." In the distance, the Celestial Horse Yisur muttered to itself, "A bit messy, though."

Stella looked at the equally dumbfounded Governor Howard. "Governor, I think you should start preparing the expense report for the board of directors."

Governor Howard sighed. "I thought the Dragon Knight was different from Jack. I never expected that backing him just this once would cause almost as much trouble as Jack has in half a lifetime."

Isabella crossed her arms. The Paperman Daoist Nun sat on her shoulder, swinging its paper legs. "I knew Baron Constantin wouldn’t be taken down so easily... But there is something I find strange."

"Strange? What is?"

The Paperman scratched its paper face with a paper hand. "I’m just wondering about that Paperman from before."

’Could Master have intervened? But logically, he should still be discussing the Dao with the Golden Mage right now.’

「Elsewhere.」

Abraham saw Adam, Gold, Dewey, and the other Demon Hunters looking at him silently. He pulled a "Tiger" brand cigarette from his pocket, awkwardly asked a lady in a white sun hat for a light, and lit it. The wrinkles on his face bunched together in melancholy.

"It seems he isn’t a fool after all."
