Chapter 305: Our Bombs Now

Now we have a truck load of explosives and a pile of burning corpses by the side of the road.

The question is what do we do with the explosives?

I mean… Obviously we intend to use it but the question is where?

I watched as Maylene skipped over to the back of the truck to throw the doors open, revealing the egg shaped devices that, upon closer inspection, looked more like canisters wrapped in wire and some kind of belt shaped charge strapped around the rim.

“Ooohhh~ This looks promising~ I thought they might just be strapping Mana Crystals to some kind of bomb and blowing it up to make use of the unstable energy within the Mana Crystals… But they seem to have put quite a lot of thought into this!” Maylene giggled, climbing up into the back of the truck.

I watched her carefully, just in case something happened with the bombs and I had to move to protect her from the blast.

She went to one of the devices and placed her hand on it, using her skill to shrink it down so that she could pick it up and hop off the truck with it.

She then placed it down on the ground and expanded it again, eyeing the device curiously as she inspected it.

“Hmm~ Hmm~ I see, I see~ How interesting~ Look! Look! Qing!”

The bunnygirl beckoned me closer and I went to her side, trying to see what exactly she wanted to show me.

She pointed at the canister, “Look look! Do you see this?”

I blinked, “Err… Yeah but… What am I supposed to see?”

“From what I can find in our world, umm… I mean, your world…”

I raised my hand, “It’s your world now as well. So it’s ours. You’re one of us now.”

She actually blushed a little while she squirmed cutely, “Ah… Ehehe~ Umm… Our world. Yes, yes~”

I smiled and patted the cute bunnygirl on the head, “Anyway, you were saying?”

She sobered up quickly and turned back to the device, “Oh! Yes, yes! You see… In our World, we’ve had some time to experiment with Mana Crystals but most of them were focused in the direction of using it for energy instead of using it as a weapon. There have been attempts to use them in that way but… Right now it’s limited at most. Or at the very least, the ones that are doing the research in that direction are keeping the results very secret.”

I nodded, “I would assume that weapons research would definitely be something that is kept under wraps.”

“Right. But I’ve also tried to gain access to those projects too and from what I can dig up, most of the explosives made using the Mana Crystals rely on blowing it up and then letting the stored energy of the crystal carry the explosion to amplify it and make the explosion more deadly. Which basically means a bigger Mana Crystal equals to bigger boom!”

I then turned to look at the bomb in front of me which were all the same size, which was roughly about up to my waist in height and looked like one of those water dispenser plastic jugs that you might see in offices.

“Ok… So… I assume that in our own World, a Mana Crystal of this size would not result in as big of an explosion as it did?”

She nodded enthusiastically, “Yes! So what is interesting is how they made it into a bomb! Instead of just blowing it up with another explosive, they basically use this device strapped to the centre to vibrate the mana inside the Mana Crystals until it becomes unstable and ends up exploding itself! That would result in a much bigger explosion than normal since it uses up all of the Mana Crystal’s energy to create that explosion! Normal explosives using these would lose a lot of the energy in the process but this one makes sure none of that energy gets wasted!”

“Huh… I see… So… Do we still need this?” I asked, pointing at the bomb that was still on the ground in front of us.

“Oh, yes! I intend to take one back to the labs to take a look at the inside of the device!”

I gave her a pointed look, “You sure that’s safe? You know? You’ll be literally bringing a bomb back to our own place. What if it blows up?”

“Oh, don’t worry, Qing! We have a place that we made specifically to test out weapons like these!”

…

They made a place on the island where they can test out bombs… Ok, I shouldn’t even be surprised. We intend to build a training hall where the Vanguards and myself can practice after all, so this shouldn’t be that surprising.

In fact, I think I would be surprised if they didn’t have one prepared already.

I then turned towards the rest of the bombs in the truck, “What about the rest?”

She grinned at me, “Want to test them out? We can use one at the camp that these guys came from~ Just to see how big of an explosion it can make when it’s just a single one~”

Say less.

She gathered the rest of the bombs and shrunk them down to put them in her bag, assuring me that she already figured out how to detonate them and doing this wouldn’t set them off.

She even took the truck as well, figuring that she might be able to learn something from it if she were to disassemble it later.

I didn’t stop her since it wasn’t really that big of a burden seeing that she could shrink it down to the size of a toy car and place it inside her bag like it was really nothing more than just a simple toy.

I flew back up into the air and flew back to that military camp-esque colony.

Just like the previous time I was here, no one looked up and none of them noticed me with the bunnygirl on my shoulder.

I looked up from in between her thighs, watching the blonde haired bunnygirl fish out one of the bombs that she had shrunk to the size of a thimble.

She expanded it in size until it was the size of her palm, then went ahead to start tapping on the device that was wrapped around the canister until it lit up and started blinking.

She grinned at me and gave me a nod, indicating she was ready.

“Toss it,” I ordered.

She tapped on a button again, and the display dimmed for a moment before it started blinking more urgently.

Maylene giggled and tossed it away from her at the entrance of the camp, right as her power took effect and started changing the bomb back to its original size as it tumbled towards the ground.

Both of us watched with bated breaths as the unassuming canister fell closer and closer to the ground.

And right as it was about to hit the ground, there was a flash of light which made the both of us cover our eyes before the sound of an explosion came from below.

I opened my eyes just in time to see a shockwave wash over the ground below and a smoke cloud rising up into the air.

That single bomb had been enough to completely disintegrate the front gate and anything that was within a hundred metres of the blastzone while the heat from the bomb incinerated everything else that was within five hundred metres.

The shockwave then shattered and blew apart the buildings that were within an eight hundred metre radius around the explosion. Effectively, half of the camp was wrecked by just that single bomb alone.

But for it to reach the scale it had back at our camp… I suspect they had planted at least four of these things. And for them to collapse the cavern of Khar’s colony… They must have had dozens of them planted.

Still, that explosion did not destroy the whole camp so there were still survivors. Survivors who were already rushing out in a panic and trying to look for the perpetrator of the assault.

Maylene took out another one and grinned, “That’s pretty big just for one of these things. Wanna see what happens if I expanded it to… Hmm… Five times the original size?”

Against my better judgement, I grinned at her, “You know what? Sure. Why not?”

She let out a very unhinged laugh as she activated the bomb before tossing it.

I watched as the bomb got bigger. And bigger. And bigger. And way bigger than I thought it would.

I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand on end and I immediately created the teleportation door behind me before letting myself fly into it, appearing a good distance away before my entire vision was engulfed in white light.

Holy fucking shit….
