Chapter 1449: I Have A Different Process
I was actually hoping to see what the normal procedure would be like but they sorted us according to our armbands and everyone had to move to a different part accordingly.
And I suddenly felt really lonely and ostracised because I was the only one that was following this girl wearing what I now figured were the Academy’s robes who was appointed as my guide to enter the school.
"Miss Aster, I am so glad you decided to enroll this semester~"
I blinked at the girl, "Eh? Why is that?"
"It’s actually quite rare for Valedictorians of our branch schools to further their studies here."
"Eh? Wait... Really? Why not? Wouldn’t they have gotten a free pass to enter the main Academy directly to further their studies?"
"Oh, I’m not saying that they don’t. It’s just that it’s rare. Most of the time, companies, kingdoms, and other organisations would be scooping up these Valedictorians from our branch Academies as soon as they graduated. Most of them would give them offers they can’t refuse so they would end up just accepting those offers and stopping their education there."
Hmm... Makes sense I guess...
The bigger organisations would probably be looking at the main Aerialla Academy and scooping up the good graduates here, which means the smaller organisations probably wouldn’t stand a chance.
So instead of competing here, they just camp the branch schools and then throw everything they have to get the attention of the best students from there to secure them before they go out of reach.
If those people were already part of the Special Class or the Valedictorian, they would have already proved themselves to be talented or skilled in some way so they could just nab them and cultivate them themselves.
They couldn’t get to me since... Well... I didn’t really stick around after graduation and I had no plans to stop there either.
I was brought out of the registration building where everyone was still being briefed on their entry procedures and out to an open courtyard that led to another rectangular building up ahead, the courtyard being used as some kind of park with a large fountain in the middle.
It was actually really beautiful, reminding me of the gardens back in the Royal Palace back at Crown Capital City.
I’m pretty sure they’re doing this on purpose so new visitors could be awed by their wealth and power to be able to put such a garden at their very front door.
On the way there, a rather classy looking Mahun woman wearing a very elegant pair of spectacles with a set of forest green robes bearing what I believe was the Academy’s sigil on her left chest draped over her shoulders. I noted that along the edges of said robes were gold trims which kind of contrasted against her chestnut brown hair.
Following her were stacks of papers that seemed to be floating along in the air like some kind of servant as the woman was busy scribbling something on one of them before flicking the paper away to join the train, only for another paper to slide into her hands right after.
The woman leading me stepped aside to allow her to pass and I followed her lead, but that only caught the other’s attention as she came to a stop.
"Good afternoon, Director Everhart," The woman beside me greeted with a bow.
The one named as ’Director Everhart’ turned to look at the both of us before she smiled at us.
"Hello there. Might you be one of the new students enrolling this semester?"
I wasn’t sure who she really was so I just nodded, "Yes I am. Umm... I’m Aster."
The woman’s smile widened, "Very well met, miss Aster. It is my pleasure to meet you. I am Cecilia Everhart, the Director of Student Affairs here. If you have any problems during your study here, please come find me."
She then reached out her hand and I touched it, shaking her hand softly.
She straightened herself before nodding at the building I had just left, "You will have to forgive me, Miss Aster. As much as I might like to stay and chat, I would have to oversee the prospective students’ enrolment right now. Please go ahead."
The Director then gave each of us a nod before walking off, going right back to writing on the paper in her hands while the long trail of paperwork followed her.
I noticed that my guide seemed to want to say something but held her tongue
She waited until Cecilia was gone before she spoke to me, "As you heard, Miss Aster... That is Director Cecilia Everhart. She’s the Director in charge of Student Affairs within Aerialla Academy and she handles everything that might be related to student related activities including the admissions, the student clubs, the dormitories and also discipline."
I hummed, "I assume she’s someone that I would want to be on the good side of?"
"Fufu~ I would say it would be better if you were on the good side of all the professors in the Academy but yes, she is someone that you definitely would want to like you instead of hate you. Let’s continue, shall we?"
I nodded and she continued guiding me towards the next building past the garden courtyard.
We stepped through the doors and another person came along, almost bumping into my guide as they turned around the corner.
"Oh. My apologies," The person spoke with a deep sounding voice.
I looked up to see that it was a male Meslatar with what looked like blue scales on some parts of his face and silvery horns jutting out from his head. A pair of blue dragon wings and a blue tail were also jutting out from behind him.
He was wearing a rather striking set of armour that I could already feel was enchanted even though I was not directly in front of him from how it thrummed with mana.
He shifted his golden eyes from my guide to me before moving back to my guide.
"Terribly sorry. You’re not hurt are you?" He asked.
I could see my guide blush up to her ears as she stuttered, "N... Not... Not at all Captain Ragnar! I... I... Thank you for worrying about me!"
Hmm... Well... I guess this guy’s rather attractive at least. He does have high cheekbones and he looks to be quite well built so I can see why she might be a little attracted to him.
The guy then turned to me and smiled, showing off his rows of pearly white teeth.
"Hello there. You’re a new student aren’t you? I’m Ragnar, captain of the Sky Guards here. For you to be escorted all the way here alone, I assume you’re a Valedictorian of your branch school? That’s pretty impressive."
I nodded at him, "Hello... I’m Aster and umm... Yes I am."
"Ahaha! No need to be so formal with me. You can see me as a security guard for the school!"
I blinked at him, "Security guard?"
"Well... Not quite I guess. Were you attacked by monsters on your way here?"
"Umm... A few wyverns, yes. But the ship managed to repel them away."
He nodded sagely, "Mmm... Sometimes there are monsters that might try to invade the island so it’s my job to make sure that they don’t and to protect the Academy from external threats, monster or otherwise."
That subtle threat was not lost on me as I figured other Kingdoms might have tried to claim the Academy by force before and this Sky Guards group might be their defense force or something.
He then gave me a small salute, "Anyway, I’m off to check my men to make sure they aren’t slacking off. It’s nice meeting you. Oh! And welcome to Aerialla Academy!"
He then walked off, opposite to our direction of where we came from to head towards the bridge that I saw when the ship docked on the island.
My guide was just stuck there watching the guy leave and I could almost see the hearts floating off of her as she drooled after that guy.
I cleared my throat which shook her out of her stupor and she quickly hid her embarrassment by clearing her throat as well.
"Ahem! Umm... That was Captain Ragnar... As he said... He’s the captain of the Sky Guards and... Really popular amongst the girls... Hehe..."
"Uh huh... Sorry, I can’t relate... I’m into girls."
She turned to me in surprise, "Eh? So... You’re... Not interested in him?"
"Err... No. Sorry."
Unexpectedly, her face actually lit up, "Oh my~ You might be the first female I heard that isn’t actually interested in him! That’s a surprise!"
"Well... First of all, I’m a futa... Second of all, I’m pretty sure my girls won’t be interested in him either."
She blinked at me, "Your... Girls?"
"Ah... Umm... I have a harem... And they are also enrolling with me."
Gods, it feels so weird to say that... Who the heck even just goes around telling people they have a harem?
Her eyes lit up in understanding, "Ah! I see! Then it’s perfect for you then~ I assume you would want to stay together with them as well. I’ll put that in as a note for your enrollment~ Come with me~ We need to finalise your status as a student~"
That fast huh? I’ve only stepped onto the island for less than an hour and I’m already meeting some weird people...
