Zhou Qi spoke calmly, but anyone could see that he was in an extremely bad mood.

Everyone, including An Rui, watched Zhou Qi’s back as he walked upstairs, exchanging glances with each other.

Finally, Ah Shuang spoke first, “Could it be that Brother Qi was rejected by Xiao?”

“No way, Brother Qi is so great, and Xiao wouldn’t be interested?”

“I don’t think so. I thought Xiao quite liked Brother Qi.”

The group continued to chatter, though ultimately, they were just a bunch of gaming nerds without much experience in such matters.

After a bit of gossip, they all returned to their rooms.

Zhou Qi entered his room, quickly took a shower, and filled a cup with water as he stood by the window.

His room had its own water dispenser, sparing him the hassle of fetching water downstairs.

Looking at the pitch-black night outside, Zhou Qi’s mind filled with tonight’s image of Xiao Rou.

The white little dress really suited her.

She even seemed to have done her hair and applied a bit of makeup—very subtle but beautiful.

In all these years knowing Xiao Rou, Zhou Qi had almost never seen her dress up so meticulously, especially in the outfit given to her by Zhou Chengchen.

It was all because of that person, wasn’t it?

Zhou Qi felt a bit agitated and gulped down a glass of water.

There were things he didn’t want to recall, things he was striving to forget.

Yet today, seeing Xiao Rou standing delicately dressed next to Xi Siyan, watching her beam at him, all those unpleasant memories inevitably flooded back.

Xiao Rou… likes Xi Siyan.

His mind drifted back to that afternoon when he personally saw the love letter in Xiao Rou’s backpack, addressed to Xi Siyan, written in her graceful handwriting.

Zhou Qi knew, ultimately, the love letter hadn’t been sent.

Perhaps Xiao Rou hadn’t revealed her feelings, but not revealing it didn’t mean it wasn’t there.

Zhou Qi trusted Xiao Rou’s character. Since her friend liked Xi Siyan, with her personality, she would surely step back.

But as he thought, stepping back doesn’t mean nothing exists.

He poured another glass of water and drank it, rubbing the spot over his heart.

Liking someone else isn’t a big deal, as long as she likes him later.

But she just happened to like Xi Siyan, the man destined to become his brother-in-law.

Zhou Qi didn’t know if he was being petty, but he couldn’t accept it. This was why he had buried his feelings deep inside for such a long time.

Yet recently, he thought perhaps that teenage crush had already faded from Xiao Rou’s heart, otherwise she couldn’t face Xi Siyan and Zhou Chengchen so calmly.

But today, Zhou Qi smiled self-deprecatingly.

Turns out, you still like him.

He trusted Xiao Rou’s character; he believed she wouldn’t wait until Zhou Chengchen was gone to do something sneaky, and she couldn’t do it anyway.

But there were some things hidden in the subconscious, like when he gave her two tickets, she thought of asking Xi Siyan to go with her, or like how she dressed up because of him.

A woman dresses to please those she admires; it’s subconscious, something even she isn’t aware of.

Putting down the cup, Zhou Qi turned around and lay on the bed, pulling the quilt over his head to sleep.

As an adult, he needed to pick things up and put them down; luckily, he realized in time, preventing any awkward situations from arising between them.
