Mr. Xiao was naturally furious, while Mrs. Xiao was comforting her husband’s emotions. Ultimately, they just wanted to do what was best for Xiao Rou.

They had seen many examples of people suffering and being wronged after marriage because of misunderstandings, having lived for over half their lives.

They simply did not want their daughter to go down such a path.

As parents, they knew Xiao Rou’s temperament well. She was such a gentle girl, and if she really encountered such a situation, she would have nowhere to cry.

“Rourou is still young; she will understand in the future.”

Mrs. Xiao said softly, and Mr. Xiao was clearly still angry, wanting to vent, but seeing his wife’s expression, he eventually sighed deeply.

Parents mean well for their children, often imposing some so-called life experiences on their kids.

These “experience talks” can be both good and bad; ultimately, it’s not about right or wrong, just a generational gap.

Mr. Xiao sulked again by himself, then said to Mrs. Xiao, “Give her a call. Running out by herself at this late hour, doesn’t she care about safety? She’s becoming more unreasonable.”

“Understood.”

Meanwhile, Xiao Rou was in the car midway and received a call from Mrs. Xiao.

Mrs. Xiao, unlike Mr. Xiao, was also a bit upset. After all, in their eyes, Li Chen seemed like a very good son-in-law candidate.

However, being gentle all her life, she wouldn’t get angry with Xiao Rou, just advised her patiently.

“Rourou, Dad and Mom are both thinking for your sake. Mom won’t say much more; just think about whether there is a possibility with the boy you like. If there is, bring him home for us to meet. We don’t insist only on Li Chen, but think about the kind of people you were involved with before. We just fear you’ll be wronged.”

After saying this, Mrs. Xiao hung up, and Xiao Rou felt a sudden pang of sadness listening to it, knowing well that her parents were considering her welfare.

Their differing views don’t mean they don’t love her.

Xiao Rou’s tender nature resurfaced.

Mrs. Xiao’s words, though not enough to make her compromise and conform, did stir some guilt in her heart.

They mean well for her, and she just ran away…

Xiao Rou’s tears started falling uncontrollably. She wasn’t particularly sad, she just felt an inexplicable urge to cry.

“Young lady, what’s wrong? Arguing with the parents?”

The driver in the front seat noticed Xiao Rou suddenly crying and, while stopping at a red light, handed over a pack of tissues.

Earlier, when Xiao Rou was on the phone, he caught a bit and knew she was talking with her mom, naturally guessing the situation.

“Don’t cry. Parents and children don’t hold grudges overnight, things will be better by tomorrow. I used to argue with my daughter too, but now we’re quite well. Every weekend she brings my grandson over to visit. On birthdays and holidays she buys me many nice things. I told her she’s wasting money, and she got upset about that…”

The driver started rambling as he spoke, but Xiao Rou didn’t interrupt and listened to his chatter.

The car arrived at the community entrance, Xiao Rou paid and got out.

By this time, it was already very late. The team members were all in their respective rooms. Xiao Rou opened the door and entered; the living room was pitch black.

She didn’t turn on the lights and used her phone as a flashlight, slowly walking up the stairs.

Her room was at the end of the corridor, and she had to pass by everyone’s room door.

When passing by Zhou Qi’s room, the door was suddenly pulled open.
