The corridor wasn’t lit, the light was dim.

Zhou Qi’s door opened, instantly illuminating an area, with Xiao Rou standing in that beam of light.

Xiao Rou was startled; she hadn’t expected Zhou Qi to suddenly open the door.

Zhou Qi, however, was quite calm; he had originally heard Xiao Rou’s footsteps and opened the door because of that.

“Didn’t you say you were going home today? Why are you back?”

Familiar voice of Zhou Qi came; Xiao Rou snapped back and smiled, “It’s nothing, I have to go to the shop tomorrow, so I came back early.”

Her voice was very light, but Zhou Qi keenly noticed the trace of hoarseness mixed in her voice.

Because of the backlight, Xiao Rou’s expression was momentarily unclear, Zhou Qi frowned, stepped forward, and after getting close to Xiao Rou saw her reddened eyes.

Zhou Qi’s frown deepened, “Cried?”

Instinctively, Xiao Rou reached out to touch her face; she had cried, but a while had passed, how did Zhou Qi still see it?

While they were talking, there was movement beside them again, Zhou Qi reached out and pulled Xiao Rou into his room.

Inside the room, the lights were brighter, making the redness in Xiao Rou’s fair little face more apparent.

Zhou Qi let Xiao Rou sit at the edge of his bed, while he half-knelt in front of her, frowning tightly, “What’s wrong? Argued with your parents?”

Xiao Rou pursed her lips, she actually wasn’t feeling wronged anymore; after all, her parents were doing it for her own good, but somehow, with Zhou Qi’s question, she suddenly felt wronged again.

The tip of her nose tingled, she fought the urge to cry again, swallowed hard, and began to explain the situation.

“I understand their intentions, but I don’t like Li Chen, nor do I like them forcing me together with Li Chen.”

“If you don’t like him, then don’t be with him; they will understand you.”

Zhou Qi gently comforted, Xiao Rou nodded, “Yes, I know.”

“But… since that person is so good, young yet able to become a director at Shengshi, that should be considered outstanding, why don’t you like him? Is it him, or is it the matchmaking you don’t like?”

Xiao Rou hadn’t expected Zhou Qi to suddenly ask this, and while meeting his gaze, slightly in a daze, she blurted out, “I don’t like him; I have someone I like.”

“Oh? Who is it?”

Zhou Qi spoke with his usual smile, seeming like a casual question.

Yet Xiao Rou, due to his inquiry, snapped back to reality, her hand involuntarily tightened, almost blurting out “it’s you”; fortunately, she had rationality and forcibly swallowed those words.

Zhou Qi’s current demeanor, so casual, so ordinary, felt to Xiao Rou like a casual gossip comment.

Indeed, he didn’t like her.

If he liked her too, how could he react like this upon hearing she likes someone?

Xiao Rou’s heart felt as if a bucket of ice-cold water had been poured on it.

She lowered her gaze slightly and didn’t speak.

Zhou Qi’s voice, still carrying a smile, came over again, “Is it your ex-boyfriend?”

His question remained incredibly casual as if he wasn’t bothered by the matter at all, Xiao Rou’s heart sank even further.

Facing Li Chen, she brushed off this question with a smile, not answering, as she didn’t want Li Chen pursuing the inquiry. But facing Zhou Qi…

Although her heart was full of disappointment and bitterness, Xiao Rou still shook her head, “No.”
