Chapter 190: Chapter 166: Can Killing Void Beasts Also Yield Space Stones?

True to her Nature, Rowan Rhodes noticed it as well.

The moment she saw it, her lips pressed into a thin line. In truth, she had long guessed that the secret of obtaining Space Stones by killing Void Beasts couldn’t be kept hidden. Human hearts were simply too unpredictable. Even with her guidance, there were still many bloodthirsty players looking for shortcuts. Having grown accustomed to relying on violence and paying the lowest possible price to survive the Sea Survival Game, they would inevitably try to deal with the Void Beasts through slaughter.

Rowan’s gaze unconsciously drifted to the main chat group, watching the discussions among the active players.

"Killing Void Beasts drops Space Stones too! No need to spend any resources now. What a steal!"

"Haha, thanks for sharing, boss!"

"But Void Beasts are so cute! How could you bring yourselves to do it?"

"Exactly. The Void Beasts are incredibly friendly. Why on earth are you killing them?"

"They’re even widely recognized as Native People! Aren’t you worried that the Sea Survival Game will hold a grudge and retaliate later?"

"What’s so hard about it? Just treat the Void Beasts as resource-farming tools. No matter how smart they are, they aren’t our kind!"

"Are you seriously showing sympathy for these creatures in the Sea Survival Game?"

"Every man for himself, and the devil take the hindmost. If you want to survive, stop acting like Saints."

"This isn’t about acting like a Saint! The Void Beasts clearly possess Wisdom. Their language is just different from ours. We can trade with them, yet you resort to slaughtering them."

"It’s not just slaughter; it’s absolute torture."

"I think everyone needs to calm down. The fact that the Sea Survival Game recognizes them as Native People might be tied to the future development of our rafts. If you rely on massacre, you might face karma in the end."

"..."

Each player argued from their own perspective, driven entirely by their personal interests and beliefs. The two sides were locked in a heated debate, each voicing their own opinions, while a few remained neutral.

The comment about facing karma had actually been posted anonymously by Rowan in the main group. She hoped it would serve as a wake-up call to those blindly following the trend. Of course, what she said was also the absolute truth. She had learned this from Void Beast Atticus. After all, upon discovering that quite a few Void Beasts had been killed by players, the survivors had spread the word, warning the others to be wary of their quest targets. When Void Beast Atticus found out, it had literally stomped its feet in rage.

By now, Rowan had already left the Void Isle, heading toward her original destination: the sunken shipwreck at the bottom of the sea. Since Void Beast Atticus had locked onto her raft, it simply tagged along. It would only return to the Void Isle when other players landed there.

"How is it? Have any players tried to attack you?" Rowan asked Void Beast Atticus with concern.

Void Beast Atticus shook its head.

"No. The ones I’ve met so far have been pretty friendly. They traded with me peacefully, and several even mentioned your name. I gave them a few extra Space Stones." Although Void Beast Atticus was furious at the hostile players, it harbored no resentment toward Rowan and the others who meant it no harm. As it spoke, a hint of smugness leaked into its voice. It was clearly trying to curry favor with Rowan!

"There are bad people in our district too, so keep your eyes peeled," Rowan said, feeling a bit worried as she looked at Void Beast Atticus. This child was simply too naive. While suffering losses could build character, she really didn’t want Void Beast Atticus to grow through the trauma of being killed. Tagging along with her to observe and learn was a perfectly good way to grow up too!

"Okay, I know," Void Beast Atticus nodded. "Anyway, I can call it a day once I finish my daily quest of trading ten thousand Space Stones. The players in your district seem pretty strong! A lot of them have fresh fruits, vegetables, and delicious food."

"When it comes to supplies, District 122 players are the richest on average," Rowan nodded in agreement.

"Then my quest will be finished much faster."

"Let me know before you go back. I’ll keep an eye on the World Channel so you can try to avoid certain quest targets," Rowan instructed.

"Mhm! Rowan, you’re the best," Void Beast Atticus said, nuzzling affectionately against Rowan’s chest. It could sense her genuine kindness. It liked Rowan. Therefore, no matter how wicked the players from other districts were, it wouldn’t affect its perception of her. It had even gone out of its way to encourage the bullied Void Beasts from other districts to save up their Space Stones and sell them all to Rowan later.

Rowan smiled. Who couldn’t love such an adorable creature? Someone like her, who possessed a scheming mind, always preferred the company of the pure and simple.

Just then, Void Beast Atticus sensed someone arriving at the Void Isle. "There are new quest targets," it promptly informed her.

"Wait." Hearing this, Rowan immediately checked the District 122 World Channel. Some players would announce their arrival on the island in the public chat. Sure enough, the moment she opened it, she saw people reporting in.

"Harold Thompson: I’ve landed on the Void Isle. If I run into a Void Beast, I’m definitely going to have some fun with it."

"Simon Quinn: @Harold Thompson, I’m almost there too. Let’s group up."

Seeing that these two were among the players landing on the island, Rowan’s mouth twitched. Garbage truly attracted garbage. To think these two scumbags had actually met up again.

"The newly landed players are a bit troublesome, and they’re quite malicious. They’re coming with the express intention of killing you," Rowan said bluntly. Harold Thompson and Simon Quinn’s despicable characters were plain for all to see; no amount of insults could ever do them justice.

"But I have to complete my quest..." Void Beast Atticus said, feeling a little wronged. It was a mandatory quest; otherwise, they would have gone into hiding long ago.

"It’s fine. I’ll give you some weapons," Rowan offered. She pulled out a pile of burning bottles and handed them to Void Beast Atticus. "If they try to bully you, just blow them up."

"Alright!" Staring at the weapons, Void Beast Atticus instantly perked up. It could clearly sense their destructive power!

Afterward, as she watched Void Beast Atticus leave, Rowan couldn’t help but look forward to the show. She harbored no goodwill toward Harold Thompson, Simon Quinn, and their ilk. It was just that she had developed too quickly and moved too fast, rarely ever crossing paths with them. Otherwise, if given the chance, she would have definitely taught them a harsh lesson. And now, the perfect opportunity had just fallen right into her lap.
