Chapter 191: Chapter 167: The Void Beast Countered the Players

Void Isle, District 122.

Harold Thompson, Simon Quinn, and their group successively landed on Void Isle, regrouping on its sandy beach.

They weren’t the only ones on the island. Other players had landed before them; some had already traded with Void Beast Atticus and were continuing to explore the area. After all, the information had already been shared. Aside from Space Stones, Void Isle also possessed Acidic Mushrooms, which were the primary raw material for making batteries. Even if players hadn’t gathered other materials to craft with, they could still sell these on the trading floor for a good price. Naturally, plenty of players were eager to collect them.

Especially after learning it was a sustainable resource, many players were simply biding their time. While waiting, they chopped down trees and mined Stones. Wooden Boards and Stones were basic resources that came in extremely handy for raft construction. Naturally, they hoarded as much as possible while they had the chance.

Of course, the moment Harold Thompson and Simon Quinn appeared, they were immediately spotted by numerous players. Knowing that this small group had a notorious track record, the other players were highly on guard against them.

"Their target must be the Void Beast. I’m afraid they won’t opt for the trading method."

"Sigh, but the Void Beast is so cute!"

"Are you going to help it?"

"As much as I want to, looking out for number one is more important."

"Yeah! Harold Thompson and Simon Quinn might have terrible character, but their strength is nothing to scoff at."

"Only top players like Zelda Parrish and her group could probably stop them."

"Why not the top dog, Rowan Rhodes?"

"With Rowan Rhodes’s status, he doesn’t even need to intervene personally. Everyone knows that Zelda Parrish, Celia Lynch, Faye Sinclair, Owen Caldwell, and several other Level 7 Raft experts are now part of his team. Rowan Rhodes is the boss of all bosses."

"Why do I suddenly feel a sense of pride just talking about it?"

While the players discussed the situation, Harold Thompson, Simon Quinn, and their men began preparing to lure Void Beast Atticus. After laying out a lavish spread of vegetables, fruits, and delicacies, they quietly waited for the Spatial Beast to arrive.

Finally, a short while after the bait was set, Void Beast Atticus came bounding over.

Looking at its naive and innocent appearance, the eyes of Harold Thompson, Simon Quinn, and their crew filled with naked greed. They all had active quests. By killing the creature, they could consecutively reap the Space Stones it dropped. Seeing Void Beast Atticus draw closer, the group readied themselves to capture and attack.

Some of the surrounding onlookers looked away, unable to bear the thought of Void Beast Atticus being brutally slaughtered.

However, in the very next moment, the unexpected happened. Several burning bottles materialized out of thin air around Void Beast Atticus. These burning bottles dropped directly next to Harold and his group.

The moment they landed, a series of deafening explosions rang out.

The attack came so fast that Harold Thompson and Simon Quinn didn’t even have time to react before they were blasted half to death. If it weren’t for their current Level granting them thicker health bars and their defensive Equipment, they would have been killed instantly.

As for Void Beast Atticus, after attacking Harold and his crew, it snatched up all the vegetables, fruits, and delicacies they had laid out as bait. Then, it fled the scene.

Who could say this wasn’t a trade? Void Beast Atticus was simply exchanging burning bottles for food!

The observing crowd was left utterly dumbfounded. They felt as though they had just witnessed a brilliant counterattack! This Void Beast was incredibly smart!

Of course, what they cared about even more was where the Void Beast got those burning bottles from. After all, the vast majority of players didn’t even have a single burning bottle! What a reckless waste of precious resources! If they had known the Void Beast possessed burning bottles, they would have stepped up to deal with Harold Thompson themselves!

Meanwhile, after applying Healing Ointment, Harold Thompson, Simon Quinn, and their men saw their health rapidly regenerate. They scrambled up from the ground, every single one of them wearing a dangerously dark expression.

At the same time, the players at the scene had already vividly recounted this epic battle in text form. The entire District 122 world channel was filled with gloating.

"Pfft! Guess what we just saw. Harold Thompson, Simon Quinn, and their group got bombed by the Void Beast! Bombed! Do you guys get it?"

"They almost died at the hands of a cute mascot."

"Are you for real?"

"It’s true, I was right there! They wanted to capture the Void Beast and kill it for drops. And the result? The Void Beast materialized a carpet bombing out of thin air."

"What did it bomb them with?"

"Burning bottles!"

"Burning bottles? Void Beasts have burning bottles? We don’t even have those!"

"Do the Void Beasts in other districts have them?"

"Zelda Parrish: Never heard of that. Maybe the Void Beast in our district is just a bit special."

"Haha, it sure is special. The Void Beast in our district has a long-term contract with our top dog, Rowan Rhodes."

"So, Rowan Rhodes gave the Void Beast the burning bottles?"

"I just want to say one thing: beautifully done! I’ve been sick of those guys for a long time."

"It’s just a shame it didn’t eliminate the pests for good."

"Rowan Rhodes really spoils that Void Beast! To think he’d give it such precious weapons."

"The Void Beast also gave Rowan Rhodes a ton of Space Stones, though! It boosted his strength!"

"So it’s a two-way street!"

"Honestly, I’m just happy because this means the Void Beast finally has the ability to protect itself."

"So, besides vegetables, fruits, and delicacies, maybe Void Beasts would also like weapons to deal with hostile players. I think I know how we can help them now."

"I had the same thought."

"@Zelda Parrish, boss, could you help write a guide?"

"Cute Void Beasts should be pampered, not killed."

The vast majority of players in District 122 were friendly toward the Void Beast. When they previously heard Zelda Parrish and the others recount how other districts were hunting down Void Beasts, they had been genuinely furious. But now, the Void Beast of District 122 had set a prime example for all players.

If they didn’t want the Void Beasts to be bullied, they just needed to give them weapons.

In the blink of an eye, the discussions among the District 122 players were relayed by Zelda Parrish and her group to the main chat group of the Sea Survival Shop. The moment these words came out, they immediately gained the approval of many resident players, who then began spreading the idea back to their own districts.

Some friendly players genuinely took this to heart and began incorporating weapons, Equipment, and other such items into their trades. Some Void Beasts liked it, while others didn’t. Regardless, it added a new variety to the resource exchange.

While the players were taking action, Void Beast Atticus was busy doing the same. It was showing off. It boasted to the Void Beasts of other districts that Rowan Rhodes had given it a lethal weapon—the burning bottle—which allowed it to completely dominate its enemies.

Once this news spread from its mouth to the other Void Beasts, countless Void Beasts set their sights on the burning bottles in Rowan Rhodes’s possession.

They wanted such highly destructive weapons too!
