Chapter 195: Chapter 171: I Really Hope It Isn’t Rowan Rhodes

The newcomer wasn’t just any player; it happened to be Harold Thompson, who had just left Void Isle.

After being set up by Void Beast Atticus on Void Isle, it was impossible for him to obtain Space Stones from the Void Beasts anymore. Fortunately, he could still exchange for them from Rowan Rhodes. So, despite his anger, Harold didn’t feel too regretful. At this moment, he actually felt grateful for the Trading Hall’s anonymity feature. It was only because of his hidden identity that he had managed to make the exchange. Otherwise, he figured Rowan definitely wouldn’t have been willing to trade a Space Stone to him.

Harold still had some self-awareness about the fact that people hated him. If it weren’t for the fact that District 122 was currently ruled by Rowan and Zelda Parrish—with most players siding with them to some extent for profit or other reasons—he wouldn’t have been forced to keep such a low profile. Furthermore, it wasn’t that he didn’t want to change; it was just his nature. He couldn’t change even if he tried. Besides, who would believe him if he did?

Moreover, being the bad guy had its perks. At the very least, his raft level had progressed well, and few players in District 122 dared to mess with him. As for Rowan, Zelda, and the other big shots he had offended, they were too busy expanding their own enterprises to waste any time on a small fry like him.

He had slowly figured out how to survive in the Sea Survival Game by staying true to his nature. In layman’s terms: running his mouth. Even his previous claims about forming a group to deal with Celia Lynch were just big talk; he didn’t dare put them into action. After all, Celia’s raft level wasn’t low, and she had just joined Rowan’s team. Who knew? Rowan, who gave away items like he had a hole in his pocket, was willing to give a burning bottle to a Void Beast—he might have also supplied them to Celia and his other subordinates!

It was better to steer clear. The only ones Harold could bully were players weaker than himself. For instance, knowing the burning bottle the Void Beast used to blow him up came from Rowan, he didn’t even entertain the thought of condemning the man on the World Channel. In a word: he didn’t dare.

Thus, after gathering resources like Acidic Mushrooms, soil, Wooden Boards, and Stones on Void Isle, he had quietly left to continue exploring other islands. Part of the reason for his departure was that he didn’t want others to treat him as a laughingstock.

Upon leaving, he and his group adjusted their wind vanes and set off in the same direction. When the time came, they would coordinate their distance changes on the Map with their companions via the World Channel.

The reason they had managed to arrive at Void Isle together in the first place was because they had started coordinating like this after regrouping at Glimmerstone Isle. It was essentially an experiment. After all, this method allowed them to gather without consuming a Positioning Card, enabling them to gang up on other players rather than being bullied themselves.

And their experiment had been a success. After one player discovered Void Isle’s location on their Map, traveling according to the distance and direction provided allowed their rafts to meet up once they entered the island’s vicinity. That was why they had adopted the same method after leaving Void Isle.

The moment they entered this new stretch of sea, Harold immediately noticed something unusual. His Map showed a sunken shipwreck straight ahead.

He was downright thrilled. Everyone knew that sunken shipwrecks and abandoned airplanes offered massive amounts of resources, as well as many rare items currently unobtainable in the open ocean. In fact, the general consensus was that many of Rowan’s best items had been obtained from such wrecks. One step ahead meant staying ahead every step of the way. And now, this overwhelming wealth had finally landed in his lap!

Furthermore, he had a hypothesis: since islands were displayed on the player Map and allowed players to converge there, did a marked sunken shipwreck mean players could converge there too?

After recording his travel distance and the necessary wind direction adjustments, Harold immediately posted an announcement on District 122’s World Channel.

"Harold Thompson: @Simon Quinn @Elias Ziegler @Sean Rowan @... 15 nautical miles, heading southeast. There’s a sunken shipwreck here! We’re going to strike it rich this time! Come quick, it shows on the Map. We should be able to reunite in the sea area where the wreck is located."

Other players reading his message could practically feel how overjoyed he was. Seeing his unbridled excitement, many players could only lament one thing: Heaven was truly blind to let someone like Harold Thompson stumble upon such luck!
