Who Needs a CEO? I Choose Stardom
Chapter 218 - 181: Wangcai + New Job (Part 2)
The gate swung open, and there stood Sang Yuan, smiling at her from the doorway as he held a fluffy golden retriever puppy.
"I saw your light on and figured you were probably back. Here, I got you a dog!"
The puppy had probably just been weaned. Its light golden fur was fine, soft, and fluffy. It had a naturally smiling face, a pair of big, dark, round eyes, and when it stuck out its tongue... who could possibly resist loving it?
Ni Bingyan immediately perked up. She wanted to reach out and pet it but was worried it might bite, not knowing her. Sang Yuan gave a soft laugh, took her hand, and slowly guided it to rest on the little golden retriever, stroking its fur gently.
The little golden retriever was very docile. Not only did it not get fussy, but it even squinted its eyes in enjoyment.
Warm, soothing, adorable...
All sorts of wonderful adjectives popped into Ni Bingyan’s head, but after a moment’s hesitation, she still refused.
"I’m so busy. I’m on set all day, so I wouldn’t be able to take proper care of it."
When it came to animals, she had always lived by the principle: ’If you can’t treat it well, don’t get it.’ It would be completely unethical to get a pet just because she liked it, with no regard for its quality of life.
"Didn’t my father just buy you an RV? He said it’s quite large; keeping a dog inside would be no problem at all. If you’re really too busy, you can just hire an assistant to take care of it! You’re going to hire a cook to travel with the crew anyway, so one more person won’t make a difference."
The little puppy was very affectionate. Seeing her pet it, it immediately reached out a paw to bat at her arm, bracing its hind legs against Sang Yuan’s chest as it tried to leap into her arms.
’A little guy that’s so eager to be chosen! It’s so hard to say no!’
She remembered what Doctor Xu had said today: if possible, getting a comforting pet could greatly help alleviate her condition.
Ni Bingyan considered the cost of an assistant’s salary. ’It’s not like I can’t afford it.’ She looked at the dog, then back at Sang Yuan. After a long moment of hesitation, she finally nodded.
"All right, then! I’ll look after it for a couple of days and see if it likes me."
Sang Yuan couldn’t help but chuckle as he placed the puppy in her arms.
"What are you laughing at?"
Ni Bingyan felt a little embarrassed.
’What’s wrong with being a little stubborn?’
"It’s not that hard to admit you like something, you know."
Seeing his bright eyes fixed on her, his words clearly carrying a hidden meaning, Ni Bingyan’s face instantly flushed red. She hugged the dog and headed inside.
Sang Yuan sighed theatrically. "Alas! The soft, adorable puppy has been carried away, so I suppose I’ll have to carry her luggage."
Ni Bingyan turned back and saw a large pile of things at the gate.
’He brought the dog as a gift, and now I’m making him haul things. That’s not very nice of me.’
Just as Ni Bingyan was about to put the dog down to help carry the things, Sang Yuan immediately stopped her. "The puppy will be scared in a new environment, so you should hold on to it. Besides," he sighed, "I was just trying to coax you back out to talk for a few more minutes."
Ni Bingyan pretended not to hear the last part of his sentence and went over to look at the supplies.
"Can you carry all that? It’s a huge pile."
"It’s fine, it’s all on a small cart. How else do you think I got it over here?"
As she got closer, Ni Bingyan saw the cart in the shadows. She stopped insisting on helping and simply cleared a path for him to enter.
"What is all this stuff?"
"Canned food, a leash, bowls, a potty trainer, a dog bed... a brush, toys, shampoo, and of course, the essential dog food. Plus, a care guide."
The two of them brought the dog and the pile of supplies into the house. By the time Sang Yuan had helped set everything up, Ni Bingyan had already finished reading the care guide.
’Taking care of a dog doesn’t seem that difficult, after all. I don’t need to hire an extra assistant. I think I can handle it myself.’
"Does she have a name?"
Ni Bingyan handed Sang Yuan a bottle of mineral water as she looked down at the puppy.
The puppy was just too adorable. The more she looked at it, the more she wanted to cuddle it.
Seeing that Ni Bingyan hadn’t let go of the dog since she started holding it, Sang Yuan smiled happily.
’In their past life, she only started keeping a dog after she had become successful and was taking on less work. Now that I’ve given her one sooner in this life, she still can’t bring herself to refuse it, just as I thought.’
Ni Bingyan, of course, had no idea that Sang Yuan had gone to great lengths, visiting many places to find a dog that perfectly matched her tastes. She just thought every single thing about this puppy was adorable.
"She doesn’t have a name yet! I was waiting for you to give her one!"
"Is it male or female?"
Ni Bingyan couldn’t bring herself to use the typical romance-drama phrase, "Is the puppy a little boy or a little girl?" The moment the words left her mouth, she felt they weren’t dainty enough.
But Sang Yuan didn’t care about things like that and just told her it was a female.
"She’s so beautiful... Let’s call her Wangcai!"
Sang Yuan barely managed to swallow the water in his mouth, nearly choking. His handsome face flushed bright red from the effort.
In their past life, she’d also had a golden retriever. Back then, though, she had named it Little Fairy.
