Who Needs a CEO? I Choose Stardom
Chapter 220 - 182: Publication Plan + Might as Well Herd a Flock
"What’s she doing?"
Wang Biao had just finished discussing Ni Bingyan’s schedule for the following week with the film crew. When he got back to the RV, he saw her doing something unusual—cradling a laptop and slowly typing away.
Probably because she rarely used a computer, her typing wasn’t much faster than the hunt-and-peck method. It made Wang Biao so antsy watching her! He wished he could just jump in and get it done for her in a few clicks.
Usually, Ni Bingyan was either taking notes for her studies, reading, practicing her calligraphy, or drawing. She never stared endlessly at a phone or tablet. As for games, he’d never seen her play any.
Honestly, if he hadn’t caught her using a laptop today, Wang Biao would have assumed she didn’t even own one.
After the incident where she’d secretly sold her paintings, he now paid extra attention anytime he saw Ni Bingyan do something out of the ordinary, afraid he might miss another dramatic event.
The two seats in the RV’s cockpit could swivel. When the vehicle was parked, you could raise the small table between them, turn the chairs around, and sit there reading or drinking tea. It was the very picture of comfort.
Ni Bingyan preferred to stay in the main living area, so out of a driver’s territorial instinct, Duanmu Li liked to stay up front in the cockpit.
Seeing Wang Biao lean over and whisper a question, Duanmu Li nonchalantly turned a page of *A History of World Cinema* and replied in an equally quiet voice, "I don’t know."
’Ni Bingyan is a very open person and rarely hides things from us. Instead of sneaking over here to ask me, he should just ask her directly.’
’But Wang Biao, being the smooth operator he is, always prefers these roundabout methods, using others as a front.’
Wang Biao chuckled sheepishly. "I’m just worried about invading her privacy!"
Duanmu Li shot him a sidelong glance without a word, but Wang Biao immediately got the message.
He looked a bit sheepish. "Well, you’re both women. Some things are easier for you to talk about. As a man, I have to be mindful of boundaries."
’That’s the inconvenient part about being a male agent for a female celebrity. If he found out about certain things, it would be awkward for both of them. But if he didn’t ask? He was afraid something unexpected would happen again and catch him completely off guard.’
’Good news was one thing, but if it was something bad, he, the executive agent, could easily get dragged down with her. So it was better to be cautious.’
"What are you talking about, Brother Biao?"
The RV didn’t have a study, so Ni Bingyan was sitting at the dining table in the living area, just three or four meters away from them. Even though they were whispering, she had caught bits and pieces of their conversation.
Having just reached a stopping point with her work, she looked up and asked.
"I saw you typing over there and got curious about what you were writing, since I’ve never seen you use a computer before. I was worried it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to ask, so I asked Xiao Li first to see if she knew anything."
Although Wang Biao could be slick, he had one good quality: he never lied to his own people.
"I have nothing to hide, what’s so inappropriate about it?! You could have just asked me directly. It’s not a big deal, really. That thing about me seeing a therapist was all over the trending topics a while back, and my dad saw it. He got really worried, so I figured I’d write an article to document everything. I’ll include some pictures, lay out the whole story from beginning to end, and send it to him to put his mind at ease."
Ni Bingyan didn’t make a big deal out of it. After explaining, she turned her laptop around and waved him over.
"Actually, Brother Biao, you’re just in time. Come take a look at this for me? After I insert a picture, I can never get the formatting right. What’s going on with it?"
You couldn’t blame her. She rarely needed this kind of skill in her daily life.
Wang Biao didn’t hesitate. He took the laptop and saw that the article was, indeed, about her recent bout with mild depression, so he started helping her fix it.
"There, see? It’s pretty simple."
After fixing it with a few quick clicks, Wang Biao handed the laptop back.
"I never realized I had such a glaring weakness. I need to sign up for a class and really learn some Word skills. Then I can digitize all my old articles and send them to my dad, too. That way he won’t be left in the dark about what my work is like and spend all his time making wild guesses."
’Sigh.’
’Last time he’d suddenly bought her an RV, Ni Bingyan really couldn’t figure out why. She’d been in the industry for so many years; what had suddenly given her dad that idea?’
’It wasn’t until she asked that she found out her dad had heard from someone—who knows who—that all actors drive these kinds of vehicles to jobs. If she didn’t have one, she’d be losing face the moment she showed up.’
’So, his heart aching for his little girl, her dad immediately went and took care of it.’
Seeing her save the document and actually pull out her phone to buy a course, Wang Biao quickly stopped her. "There are tons of free tutorials online! I’ll find one for you later. Don’t go wasting your money!"
