Chapter 292: Chapter 172: Scouring the Apartment Rooms! An Unexpected Surprise! Rapeseed and Brown Rice

In the current environment, these supplies were finite resources that were nearly impossible to replace. Naturally, the more they had, the better, and Chen Chong was happy to take it all.

He led Xu Jun, Zhang Meng, and Wang Biao on several trips, leaving nothing behind. They moved everything to the seventh-floor hallway, piling it there for now. They planned to sort and distribute it all properly once they had finished gathering everything.

It took Chen Chong and his group a full two hours to empty all the supplies from the teachers’ and security guards’ rooms.

During that time, they even made sure to check Fan Kai’s room on the first floor.

Chen Chong remembered that when Fan Kai had first come to recruit him, he’d mentioned that he also lived on the first floor.

Chen Chong had simply never paid him a visit.

After Fan Kai was killed by the Blood-tooth Python, pretty much everyone had forgotten he even existed.

Now that they were clearing out rooms and scavenging for supplies, it was the perfect opportunity to open his door and see what was inside.

As the former head of the Fighting Club, Fan Kai had led its members to stockpile a massive amount of supplies in the gymnasium. Being the leader, he must have secretly stashed away a considerable amount for himself.

Sure enough, inside Fan Kai’s studio apartment, Chen Chong found nearly ten full boxes of supplies!

Most of it was what passed for hard currency in the school: instant noodles, bread, snacks, drinks, and various other foods.

In addition, there were plenty of miscellaneous daily necessities; there was even an entire box filled with clothes and quilts.

The amount was equivalent to almost a fifth of everything they had scavenged from all the teachers’ and security guards’ rooms combined.

Keep in mind, these teachers and security guards had snatched up plenty of supplies during the initial transmigration. Compared to the average student, every single one of them was filthy rich.

The contents of any one of their rooms were equivalent to the reserves of ten-odd students.

Fan Kai’s personal stockpile alone was a fifth of all the teachers’ and guards’ supplies combined. That made him equal to four or five of them, which, in terms of ordinary students, translated to the resources of forty or fifty people.

It was hard to imagine just how much of the Fighting Club’s resources he had secretly skimmed off the top...

On top of all the food and supplies, Chen Chong also found a dozen or so Cards in a drawer!

Staring at the supplies before them, Xu Jun was flabbergasted. "Holy cow. This Fan Kai was like a hamster, hoarding all this stuff. He even stashed away more than ten Cards. Did he fleece this from your club members?"

He looked over at Zhang Meng and Huang Mao.

The expressions on their faces were not pleasant.

They were clearly shocked by the sheer amount of supplies Fan Kai had hoarded in his room.

To be honest, even though Fan Kai had kicked them out of the Fighting Club and they held some resentment toward him, a small part of them still had some lingering respect for the man.

After all, Fan Kai had been their leader. They had parted ways over what they thought was merely a difference in philosophy.

His methods may have been radical, but they believed his ultimate goal had been for the good of the team—to ensure the club members survived and to secure more supplies for them. They thought he had been working tirelessly for the Fighting Club from start to finish, without a single selfish thought...

But now, seeing the mountain of hoarded supplies, they both finally realized the truth. This leader, who had seemed to work so hard for his "brothers" in the Fighting Club, wasn’t nearly as noble as he appeared.

He talked a big game, but his actions directly contradicted the very rules he had established.

They remembered how Fan Kai, in the name of the club’s well-being, had made everyone hand over all their possessions, not even excluding Cards.

To brainwash everyone, he had even taken the lead himself, declaring that he didn’t have so much as a slice of bread or a single pack of instant noodles stashed away at home. He claimed he was setting an example by dedicating everything he owned to the club, holding nothing back for personal gain.

That was why, despite some members initially grumbling about such an exploitative rule, they had all slowly come to accept it after seeing their leader, Fan Kai, take the lead by supposedly donating everything he had.

And yet, these boxes upon boxes of supplies were like a slap in the face, mocking them for their past naivete.

Huang Mao and Zhang Meng said nothing, just stood there with grim expressions.

Xu Jun didn’t press the issue.

Chen Chong merely shot the two a brief glance, then looked at the nearly ten Cards in his hand—most glowing white, with one or two green ones among them—and said slowly,

"These Cards are all too low-level. They won’t be of much help for building up our own place. Let’s take them to the gymnasium later."

"We’ll use any that are useful for the gymnasium to build up the team. The rest can be thrown in the warehouse as rewards. This can motivate the other members to work hard and earn points to exchange for them."

At these words, Zhang Meng and Huang Mao slowly lifted their heads to look at him.

What he said had a similar ring to Fan Kai’s old speeches—it was all about developing the team.

The difference was, one spoke with self-righteous grandeur while secretly being a ruthless exploiter.

The other was completely open about it, ensuring he had enough for himself first before giving the rest to those under him.

But clearly, Chen Chong’s approach felt more suited to the current laws of survival.

’Good things go to those who are capable of taking them. Only a leader like that can help the team survive and truly motivate everyone...’

Zhang Meng and Huang Mao glanced at each other, both feeling thankful for the decision they’d made. They had been right to follow Chen Chong; at the very least, he wouldn’t deceive them.

He was living up to the phrase he always said: you take as much as your ability allows!

Both of them silently resolved to contribute everything they could to the team in the future. This wasn’t just to repay Chen Chong—it was for the good of the entire team, and more importantly, for themselves!
