Chapter 325: Chapter 186: Movements of Extraordinary Creatures! Stone Claw Eagle Hiding in the Celestial Pit? A Recruit’s Biological Enhancement Card

The sudden, drastic change in the fish pond agitated the various fish within, causing them to frequently leap out of the water. Some even jumped clear onto the floor outside the pond.

Chen Chong returned them to the water one by one, standing by the pond’s edge to observe their changes...

As time passed, the school of fish clearly calmed down. They stopped leaping out and began to gradually acclimate to the brand-new Extraordinary Fish Pond.

Seeing this, Chen Chong could finally relax.

The 50-square-meter fish pond had suddenly become a 200-square-meter one, increasing its capacity fourfold.

’This way, I won’t have to worry about overcrowding or insufficient oxygen levels anymore. I can keep stuffing more fish in and expand the school...’

’Looks like I’ll have to pay close attention to the fish traps over at the river and the plan to purchase live fish.’

Chen Chong looked at the last Card in his hand... a Recruited Personnel Secondary Enhancement Card.

He vaguely recalled getting Cards like this, specifically for strengthening recruited personnel, more than once.

Like the Power Enhancement Card, the Top-Level Enhancement Card...

And although this Secondary Enhancement Card was different from the previous ones, Chen Chong already knew what it did.

’As long as the name doesn’t include words like ’Power’ or ’Speed,’ it should be a comprehensive enhancement type. However, the word ’secondary’ also implies it’s far inferior to a Top-Level Enhancement Card.’

[Card Type: Ability Card · Recruited Personnel Secondary Enhancement Card]

[Rating: B-Level]

[Description: Upon use, this Card will strengthen a recruited person’s main attributes to a certain extent: power, speed, stamina, reflexes, and physical strength.]

[Note: The Ability Card’s effect is permanent. If a superior Card of the same ability type is fused, it will directly overwrite the inferior Card’s ability and slightly augment the effect.]

[Reminder: This Ability Card can only be used on recruited humans. Other creatures cannot use it.]

’Just as I thought, there’s quite a gap compared to the Top-Level Enhancement Card. The description of the boost has clearly been changed from "significant" to "slight."’

’It’s actually quite similar to the Comprehensive Enhancement Card; both are B-Level.’

’It seems the Card branches are really complex. Just within Ability Cards, there are already several different kinds of Enhancement Cards, and that’s not even counting the ones I haven’t seen yet.’

However, Chen Chong hoped to see more Ability Cards like Enhancement Cards. After all, compared to regular single-ability Ability Cards, these Cards might not grant special abilities like Rock Body Transformation or "Turtle Defense," but they provided a solid boost to all of the user’s stats.

They could also, in a true sense, allow the user to step into the realm of Transcendents.

’In any case, with other single-ability Ability Cards, it’s fine if the level is high. But if it’s low, you’re likely to end up in a situation like Ning Yu’s, where she had the ability but not the physical constitution to support its consumption.’

’In a fight, it’s a classic case of injuring the enemy by a thousand while losing eight hundred yourself.’

’At best, you’d just be a Pseudo-Transcendent...’

’As for single-ability Ability Cards, they only become more cost-effective to use after one has truly stepped into the realm of a Transcendent.’

’Clearly, if I want to increase the number of Transcendents on the team, Enhancement Cards are far more useful than other Ability Cards.’

Chen Chong already had someone in mind for this Secondary Enhancement Card.

He had finished looking through all the Cards. Next up was the daily intelligence report.

The intel he received over the past few days had all been ordinary, with no blockbusters. Chen Chong was feeling a little expectant about today’s report....

[D-Class Intelligence: Today is the second day of the rainy season’s arrival. The first three days will be a prelude to the season. Once these three days are over, the rainfall will increase exponentially. The great river’s water level has already begun to rise and is expected to flood more than thirty meters beyond its banks.]

[C-Class Intelligence: The various creatures in the Primitive Jungle have long since sensed the rainy season’s approach. Most have already hidden in pre-built nests, while a small portion are hurrying to forage outside before the downpour begins, storing as much energy as possible to survive this period.]

[A-Level Intelligence: After escaping from underground, the Stone Claw Eagle did not return to its nest in the barren mountains due to its injured wings. Instead, it has gone to hide atop the tallest giant tree in the Primitive Jungle. Not only is that location filled with the biological aura most hated by the Bloodthirsty Vine, but it is also high enough off the ground to best avoid being silently ensnared by them. As for the Bloodthirsty Vine King, it is also recovering from its injuries and has developed a fierce desire for revenge....]

After reading the three pieces of intelligence, Chen Chong’s heart sank.

It wasn’t for any other reason but the last sentence in the third piece of intel, the one mentioning the Bloodthirsty Vine King’s desire for revenge...

The first two pieces of intel were not important.

He had already learned about the rainy season’s arrival a few days ago, and today was indeed the second day of its official start, just as the report said.

However, the rainfall in the first three days of the season wouldn’t be very significant—nothing more than a light, drizzling rain.

This was evident from the faint sound of rain coming from outside the window.

In fact, the rainy season had already begun yesterday when they were exploring the other side of the great river to capture wild mountain goats.

Although it was sunny for most of the day, the rain had started to fall by the time night came.

Clearly, the rainy season had truly arrived from that moment on.

As for the second piece of intelligence...

It wasn’t important either.

But Chen Chong also knew full well that today and tomorrow would be the best time for hunting during the rainy season.

This was because the animals in the Primitive Jungle were also hurrying to forage outside, seeking to store enough energy in their bodies to get through the season.

After all, most jungle creatures disliked the rain; only a small number could ignore its effects and remain active outdoors.
