Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?

Chapter 195 - 194: Waiting For You to Come Back

Jian Yu squeezed for a long time, barely managing to force out a little Green Mist.

She brought her finger to Red Snake, probing under its scales.

Red Snake’s tail curled around Jian Yu’s finger. Its weak voice was soft. "I’m going to sleep for a bit. I’ll be mostly better by tomorrow. Tomorrow, the day after, and the day after that, I’ll protect you!"

Its voice gradually faded.

It fell asleep but its eyes wouldn’t close, which looked a little scary, but Jian Yu was surprised to find something cute about Red Snake anyway.

Both of Jian Yu’s hands were being held, so she could only tilt her head, letting her cheek and the hair bun on her right side gently brush against Red Snake’s head, encouraging it to attach itself back to her hair.

Jian Yu knew the academy forbade injuring others, which was why she had chosen a challenge match.

Now, with Pei Yuan’s fate uncertain, Jian Yu was a little worried the Alliance would hold Red Snake responsible. "It won’t be in trouble, will it?"

Pei Yin scoffed. "What could happen? Ayue and the other one both have kill exemptions, it’s just that they’re too kind~ and have never actually killed anyone. That guy was about to kill you, and you’re worried about this? If Red Snake hadn’t acted, I was going to get serious myself."

His tone was unpleasant. He couldn’t even be bothered to remember Pei Yuan’s name, casually referring to him as "that guy." Their relationship seemed to be one of complete strangers.

"Oh. That’s good, then." Jian Yu just wanted some reassurance to comfort herself.

’After all, in her old world, killing was against the law. She couldn’t just switch her mindset overnight.’

Pei Yin’s fingers toyed with Jian Yu’s large, floral sleeve. "That was quite effective. Next time someone starts trouble, maybe you should try just hitting them directly. Even though you’re a priority recruitment target for the Alliance and you have us protecting you, we all still run into idiots who don’t know their place, let alone you."

Pei Yin lifted his eyes, his fingers moving elsewhere.

He fondly squeezed Jian Yu’s hair bun. "You were so damn cute today. Even your fighting was adorable."

’And here Jian Yu thought she looked cool.’

But instead, she got called "adorable."

Jian Yu expressionlessly slapped Pei Yin’s hand away. "Don’t mess up my hair."

It had to be said, Pei Yin had given Jian Yu some inspiration on how to deal with villainous female/male side characters.

’Who made the rule that you have to make some socially awkward speech before a fight?’

’If you’re strong enough to even have a kill exemption, why should she be afraid of being locked up like a typical female lead?’

’Maybe there’s another reason the female lead gets imprisoned? Like for her protection or something?’

Jian Yu nodded to herself. ’If someone pisses you off, just fight back. You can’t let yourself be pushed around like that.’

Pei Yin watched Jian Yu’s head dip, her hair bun bobbing as she nodded.

His gaze followed the movement.

Then he saw Jian Yu’s dark eyes dart around before her gaze gradually firmed with resolve, even a hint of self-affirmation.

Pei Yin couldn’t stand the cold, jealous aura radiating from Si Xu.

He looked at Jian Yu’s dazed, soft expression, which held a touch of coldness, and couldn’t resist pinching her cheek. "Look at your petty false god."

Jian Yu turned her head and glanced at Si Xu.

His eyes, as translucent as glazed glass, were still just as divine. His entire being emanated a sacred, inviolable aura.

Jian Yu’s fingers gently hooked the back of Si Xu’s hand.

When she tilted her head, her hairstyle perfectly softened her cool-looking eyes and brows, making Jian Yu appear both delicate and clever.

Si Xu didn’t speak. His gaze was lowered, his line of sight resting gently but firmly on Jian Yu’s face.

His Adam’s apple bobbed. "Compared to all of them, who is the most important?"

Jian Yu: "..."

"Is that hard to answer?" Si Xu’s brow furrowed. He changed the question. "If Ling Yanzhi and I were in danger, who would you save first?"

Jian Yu pressed her lips together. "Are you asking if you both fell into a river?"

Now it was Si Xu’s turn to be silent.

’Who is he looking down on! Who would need saving after just falling into a river?’

Pei Yin said snidely, "I won’t let them pester you. Babe, compared to them, who’s more important~"

Jian Yu’s expression darkened. She didn’t want to listen to these two spout any more nonsense.

Speaking of Ling Yanzhi, she wondered how he and Ayue were doing.

Ling Yanzhi had looked so pale these past few days. Thankfully, the Alliance wasn’t so unreasonable as to make someone travel while sick.

Xi Yu had departed the day before yesterday, escorting the students from Emperor Wolf Star back to the academy.

Ling Yanzhi left yesterday. Xi Yu was worried, so he even came back to meet up with him.

Today was Si Xu and Duan Feiye’s turn.

Jian Yu paused. ’No wonder Si Xu was willing to come out.’

"I have something to say." Si Xu forcefully separated Pei Yin’s hand from Jian Yu’s.

Before Pei Yin could speak, he said, "I came to say goodbye."

Pei Yin’s open mouth snapped shut.

"As long as it’s not a sparring match. Good luck. Don’t... try to come back to school soon." Pei Yin’s encouragement was strange.

Just then, a communication request came in. He simply walked to the side to take it, clearly not wanting to hear any more.

The call connected, and Jian Yu heard Pei Yin say impatiently, "Don’t call me for every little thing. Do I know you that well? Pei who-yuan? Don’t know him. Seems like he’s already dead. If not dead, then crippled. Are you going to keep asking?"

He hung up.

Pei Yin kicked the ground hard.

The moment Jian Yu pulled her gaze back, Si Xu grabbed her face with one hand and turned it toward him.

"Look at me." Si Xu’s way of saying goodbye was to conjure an Illusion Realm, throw out a bed, and press Jian Yu down for a kiss.

Indulgent, urgent, fierce.

His long fingers played with her waist as he leaned down to kiss her lower lip.

"I’m leaving. Cry for me one more time. Let me see it one last time, okay?"

Si Xu’s breathing was erratic, his hands gripping Jian Yu’s tightly.

"You’re even more enticing when you’re shy. Has Pei Yin seen you like this too?"

"Ayue is so skilled. Your hairstyle is beautiful today, baby."

"I’m so jealous. They have your affection, and your affection, and all of your affection."

Jian Yu was kissed until her eyes shimmered with moisture, yet her lashes remained curled slightly upward, not drooping straight from the wetness.

Her long, thick, upturned lashes were dotted with tiny teardrops, and a touch of red at the corners of her eyes added a pitiable charm.

Jian Yu’s voice was altered. "How... how many days will you be gone?"

"A week at most. Probably around the time you get back from your outing with your dear Chairman Sheng." Si Xu watched Jian Yu with a repressed gaze, his tone dripping with jealousy.

He kissed her fiercely, as if the world could crumble around them and he wouldn’t care.

His body was heavy, pressing down on Jian Yu until she felt a little weak.

A dense shower of kisses fell upon her, and Jian Yu closed her eyes to feel them.

Lips, cheeks, the bridge of her nose, forehead, collarbone.

The man’s lips were soft, so soft. His panting was magnetic, intimate, and seductive.

Even with her eyes closed, Jian Yu could imagine his expression right now: lust, grievance, and utter captivation.

Jian Yu opened her eyes and lifted Si Xu’s chin with her hand.

She arched her hips and waist, placing a tantalizing kiss on the corner of Si Xu’s lips.

Si Xu wasn’t dazed by the kiss; on the contrary, he became even more excited.

He pulled off his top, revealing a pale yet powerful abdomen.

Si Xu lifted his chin slightly, his eyes and brows filled with smug satisfaction. "Do you like this body of mine?"

’He’s... a bit of a show-off.’

The Illusion Realm was fake, after all. Jian Yu couldn’t bring herself to do something like this just outside the competition grounds, especially with Pei Yin still out there.

Jian Yu realized she was still so hopeless. After kissing him, her ears and cheeks were hot, and her heart was pounding erratically, without any rhythm or pattern.

Seeing that Si Xu was about to press down on her again, Jian Yu pushed him away. "Wait until you come back."
