Hot.

He’d fallen for it.

The Little Flying Bear took out an incense bag and undid its protective film. ’Master.’

The Yulan Tea Fragrance flooded his nostrils. Ji Shiyin’s face was flushed, but his mind cleared for a brief moment.

The Little Flying Bear buried half its face in the sachet. ’It’s no use, Master. I’m still so hot.’

One incense bag after another was opened. A large amount of residual fragrance floated like Soul Power, seeping into his body thread by thread.

It still wasn’t enough.

A single incense bag was usually enough to handle the Threshold Devouring Period, but now, more than a dozen of them couldn’t quell the feverish heat brought on by the Forbidden Medicine.

The Threshold Devouring Period, a vexing issue for High-level Awakeners, had suddenly become ’simple and easy to cure’ in comparison.

Ji Shiyin offered some helpless comfort. ’The fact that it provides any relief is good enough.’

How could a Forbidden Medicine, something the Alliance cracked down on so severely, not be potent?

Ji Shiyin tugged at his collar, his eyes hot and bloodshot.

He watched sarcastically as the woman crawled toward him.

She was like some wretched, crawling insect, clad in a Weis Lan school uniform and reeking of Forbidden Medicine.

It was too much of a coincidence, and the scene was all too similar.

It couldn’t help but remind him of the incident Pei Yin had mentioned.

The affair between Jian Yu and Yan Yu hadn’t blown up, but everyone at the school knew Yan Yu had hoarded Forbidden Medicine and used it for deliberate seduction.

Ji Shiyin had reason to suspect that this woman, possessed by a Soul Ghost Body, was also from the Yan Family.

Besides the Yan Family, he’d never heard of any other degenerates who were fond of using Forbidden Medicine.

Just then, a hand reached for him. Ji Shiyin snapped back to his senses and dodged away.

His soul domain was in turmoil, and his Spirit Domain felt on the verge of collapse.

To prevent an uncontrollable incident, he could only forcefully suppress his power and avoid activating his Soul Power.

The Little Flying Bear swatted the woman away with a single paw.

It nuzzled into Ji Shiyin’s arms, its claws digging in tightly.

’Master, let’s go! We have to find Big Sister!’

Ji Shiyin hesitated. ’An S-Class Soul Ghost Body doesn’t have the ability to resurrect, but it’s hard to say this woman before me knows nothing.’

The Little Flying Bear chewed on its paw.

Ji Shiyin’s breathing was heavy. His gaze fell on the woman before him, whose right cheek was swollen. "You’re a student at Weis Lan?"

’No wonder she could slip away from Ling Yanzhi. Wearing the uniform of the same school would naturally make one seem more familiar and trustworthy.’

A glance from the corner of his eye caught the two words stitched onto her uniform—Yan Li.

Yan Li’s right hand grasped at empty air. Her face, which had just been swatted by a bear paw, was turned as she mumbled in a low voice, "Chief Ji."

Ji Shiyin smiled, pressing his lips together. "Yan Li, is that your name? Are you from the Yan Family of Emperor Wolf Star?"

"Yes." Yan Li stared at his dimples, her face flushing as she was captivated by his smile.

Both of them were breathing in ragged, suppressed gasps.

The smile remained on Ji Shiyin’s face, but his foot came down hard, pinning Yan Li by the neck.

His voice was gentle. "The antidote."

"There is no antidote. I’m not lying to you," Yan Li choked out, struggling to breathe.

Her vision started to go black. "Chief Ji, I can help you. Let me help you, I won’t make you take responsibility."

His spiritual power rampaged, sending sharp, stabbing pains through his brain. Ji Shiyin was in no mood to beat around the bush.

He gave a bashful smile. "Oh, but you’re too ugly. You’re not worthy of me."

Yan Li’s expression froze, her embarrassment turning to rage. "Do you think you have a choice?"

The discomfort in her body intensified, and she completely forgot the warnings from her superiors.

"No one is coming here. Your Mecha is broken, and you can’t use your Soul Beast. What other way do you have to get out? Your teammates are so far away; it would take them two hours to arrive even with a Mecha jump."

She said impatiently, "And even if you did get out, so what? You know better than I do that this drug requires two people to... couple!"

Ji Shiyin’s brow relaxed. He wasn’t worried.

But he realized something was wrong. Ling Yanzhi and the others couldn’t get here quickly, but did that mean the people from the Emperor Wolf Star Military District couldn’t either?

’Why did the Soul Ghost Body possess Yan Li? A coincidence?’

’Why is Yan Li wearing a Weis Lan school uniform?’

’Did the Yan Family tacitly approve of Yan Li’s actions?’

’Is the Yan Family colluding with the Soul Ghost Body?’

Ji Shiyin frowned.

’A deserted place, Forbidden Medicine, one man, and one woman.’

’Was the target not me?’

’Was it Ling Yanzhi or Xi Yu?’

The Little Flying Bear whimpered. ’Master, we’re so unlucky. We ended up being the fall guys for Ayan and Ayue.’

Ji Shiyin patted the Little Flying Bear’s bottom. ’Sigh.’

He fought back his discomfort and tried to get more information out of Yan Li. "Emperor Wolf Star is still under the Alliance’s jurisdiction. Are you so sure no one will come?"

Yan Li’s breathing was a mess, but her tone was full of confidence. "If you don’t believe me, you can wait and see."

This was the border of Emperor Wolf Star. If anyone were coming, they would have been here already.

The Yan Family controlled Emperor Wolf Star. It was hard to believe Admiral Yan was completely unaware of this.

Ji Shiyin pondered.

’Does Admiral Yan really know? If he was involved, why would he send Yan Li?’

’This Yan Li is so stupid... ’

’And those words the Soul Ghost Body said before it died were just as stupid. Who confesses without being prompted and even actively implies Yan Li is an accomplice?’

’It couldn’t have just been to vent its anger, could it?’

He knew too little about the Yan Family, but Ji Shiyin could tell that what Yan Li wanted was to conceive his child.

After all, the allure of a Level 3S Awakener was no small thing.

Ji Shiyin was utterly disgusted. He kicked out. "Get lost."

Yan Li clutched her shoulder, her mind clearing slightly.

She didn’t dare approach him again. She just gritted her teeth and waited.

It was a matter of who could hold out longer.

Compared to Ji Shiyin, Yan Li had hoped the one who pursued her would be Xi Yu.

Her initial target, assigned by her superiors, had also been Xi Yu.

But now she had no choice.

Yan Li touched her stomach. She only had one chance, and she had to seize it.

She was just an adopted daughter, with a low Level and weak abilities. Besides her strong fertility, she had no other advantages.

Yan Li clenched her jaw and waited patiently.

But in the next second, Ji Shiyin raised his hand, and a new Mecha materialized on the empty ground.

Yan Li’s eyes widened in disbelief. "!!!"

’The Alliance stipulates that one person can only have one Mecha!’

’I’m going to report him!’

Yan Li opened her mouth, about to shout a threat.

The Little Flying Bear, extremely displeased, slapped her across the face.

Then, with a flick of its small tail, it flew into the Mecha.

The Mecha set its course and destination and took off automatically.

Ji Shiyin closed his eyes and let out a breath.

Mechas were difficult to apply for, and he had never thought of preparing two of them.

This Mecha was originally intended as a gift for Jian Yu.

It was a set with the Mechanical Space Chain he had given Jian Yu.

He’d planned to give them to her separately so he could have two gifts and two excuses to talk to her.

He never expected it would end up saving his life.

Ji Shiyin’s eyes were closed, his long eyelashes fluttering.

The Little Flying Bear was nestled in his arms, whining uncomfortably.

Ji Shiyin squinted his eyes. "Do you know what to tell Big Sister later?"

The Little Flying Bear lifted its dazed bear face. "Mhm~"

It shyly covered its face with its paws, but because its arms were so short, it could only cover its eyes.

...

Jian Yu had just finished a battle.

She looked at Sheng Yue. "Is there something you want to tell me?"

"Yeah." Sheng Yue had been kicking himself all night.

He had run off because of a... physical reaction.

When he returned to the tent, Jian Yu was sleeping like a log.

He couldn’t figure out the cave incident, so he stopped thinking about it. But the ’ride’ he had missed—every time he thought of it, he was filled with lifelong regret.

Sheng Yue was silent for a moment. "I went out last night and found the Heavy Python’s cave was gone."

Jian Yu paused. "Oh."

Shi Zhao had said that his clansmen had nests in every Beast Forest region, and they would only open to welcome them when they sensed their Leader nearby.

Coincidentally, she was half a Leader herself.

Shi Zhao also said that clansmen would automatically discover the dens of their kin when they passed by.

Jian Yu couldn’t discover them, possibly because her ’soul domain’ was too small, and the amount of ’Soul Power’ she had wasn’t yet enough to create an automatic link.

Sheng Yue saw Jian Yu spacing out and pursed his lips.

He ignored Zhang Qin and the others who were digging up Beast Crystals nearby. "Tonight, we..."
