Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?
Chapter 247 - 246: A Scumbag, Plain and Simple
The two little ones had no filter when they talked.
Sheng Yue snapped coldly, "Yin Jiu!"
Yin Jiu instantly fell silent, its large, watery eyes looking up pitifully.
It retorted stubbornly, its tone childish, "Did I say something wrong? I was just trying to help Master!"
Jian Yu couldn’t stand to watch anymore.
She glanced at Sheng Yue. "Why are you picking on it?"
Sheng Yue pressed his lips together.
’If I don’t stop Yin Jiu, who knows where this will go.’
’Yin Jiu would start rattling on, insisting on arguing with the Little Flying Bear. If they fought for too long, it would definitely start spilling the beans again, just like last time.’
The air seemed to freeze, and the atmosphere grew frigid.
Sensing that something was wrong, the Little Flying Bear quietly raised its eyes and looked cautiously at its master.
Ji Shiyin smiled and shook his head at it.
The Little Flying Bear wore a bib on its chest to keep from getting dirty while it drank its milk.
It grabbed its bib and wiped away a tear. "I’m sorry, it’s all my fault."
Jian Yu helped the Little Flying Bear lean against her shoulder and gently patted its back.
She bent down, intending to pick up Yin Jiu.
Shy and flustered, Yin Jiu took a couple of steps back on its paws.
Jian Yu swiftly scooped it up with one hand.
The two Little Soul Beasts lay obediently in her arms. They stared at each other for a few seconds before their gazes started to clash again.
Jian Yu pretended not to notice.
’It’s pretty interesting how things turned out like this.’
’Before Ji Shiyin and Si Xu showed up, I was so worried about being dissected for experiments that I’d even crafted a "hatching genius" persona for myself.’
’Back then, I’d only heard that F1 and F3 valued the hatching specialization, but I never expected F1’s actions to catch me so completely off guard.’
’But plans rarely keep up with reality. As her strength grew and the tempers of Pei Yin and the others softened, Jian Yu gradually forgot her original intentions.’
’She was a very passive person, or rather, she was someone accustomed to putting herself in a passive role.’
’If no one else brought it up, she wouldn’t deal with it.’
But this time, Jian Yu didn’t want to just gloss over it again.
She opened her mouth, ready to make things clear.
The Little Flying Bear whined cutely, "The interstellar community practices polyandry, and Sister is a Level 3S Awakener. Can’t you have my master, too?"
Its bright eyes instantly welled up with tears.
Ji Shiyin said honestly, "I wouldn’t let someone I dislike take liberties with me."
He’d even used those two words: "take liberties."
Jian Yu stood there meekly, the corner of her mouth twitching. "I never said I wouldn’t take responsibility."
"Then what about me?" Sheng Yue suddenly asked.
Jian Yu glanced at him. "Have I ever rejected you since we made our relationship official?"
Sheng Yue paused. "No."
He lowered his gaze, his long eyelashes casting faint shadows on his eyelids.
Jian Yu glanced at her teammates craning their necks in the distance, then swiped a finger through the air to create a screen-like barrier, concealing them from prying eyes.
Her lips pressed into a thin line, her expression serious. "I don’t know how much Pei Yin has told you all, but with my situation, I need you to be more proactive."
Sheng Yue froze.
’Pei Yin had indeed told him many strange things.’
’For instance, that Jian Yu had a difficult personality, that she was withdrawn, that she rarely said what she truly felt, and that she was bad at taking the initiative.’
’For instance, that there was a problem with her bloodline that required stimulation to fully Awaken.’
’And that the energy Jian Yu used could be replenished through... that sort of activity.’
’Ling Yanzhi had experimented with it, and Si Xu had proven it as well.’
’It all sounded so outlandish. Sheng Yue hadn’t taken it seriously.’
’So all those things Pei Yin said... weren’t jokes after all?’
Observing Sheng Yue’s dazed expression, Ji Shiyin didn’t quite understand. "Sister, are you hoping that I’ll be more proactive?"
The Little Flying Bear bit its paw. "Don’t worry, Sister! Master was just drugged. He’s usually really strong, so please don’t look down on him, okay?"
Jian Yu waved her hands, flustered. "That’s not what I meant."
"Then what did you mean?" Ji Shiyin asked, his eyes studying Jian Yu’s lowered lashes.
’Against the light, the very tips of her lashes seemed to glow with a soft warmth.’
’She had large eyes and thick lashes. Her whole being radiated a pure, clean aura, making her seem gentle and harmless.’
’His thoughts strayed. Even now, he could still recall the soft, warm sensations of the previous night.’
’He really hadn’t had much strength last night. He could only cling tightly to Jian Yu’s neck or lock his arms around her pale waist.’
’Sometimes he would intentionally squeeze her, other times he would nuzzle against her earlobe, leaving red marks on her collarbone, neck, and cheeks.’
’Although all traces had vanished from their bodies by the time they woke up, Ji Shiyin could still recall every single detail of the night before with perfect clarity.’
Ji Shiyin smiled shyly. "I just returned to the Imperial Capital Star, so I don’t know much."
Jian Yu suddenly noticed that Ji Shiyin had slight tear troughs under his eyes, which became more prominent when he smiled.
Averting her gaze, she activated her wristband.
A floating screen popped up in front of the three of them.

Jian Yu pointed to the entries for Blue and Pink.
She tried to explain as concisely as possible. "Before I went into the tent with you, these two energy reserves were completely depleted."
Jian Yu’s gaze swept over the other three entries. "Except for Fuyun Red, the other two types were also half-depleted. But now they’re all full."
Ji Shiyin’s eyes curved, a thoughtful expression on his face.
The Little Flying Bear asked excitedly, "Does this mean that just by sleeping with Master for one night, all your energy was replenished?"
’Is there really such a good deal?’
Normally, when Soul Power is depleted, it’s nearly impossible to fully recover in a single night, no matter how many restoration potions one drinks.
The Little Flying Bear’s mind raced. "So Master can actually help Sister! This is great!"
Sheng Yue felt a surge of inexplicable anger. His eyes turned icy as he grabbed Jian Yu’s arm.
His tone was accusatory. "So, anyone will do, is that it? You don’t care who it is, as long as it’s someone? Is that how it is?"
’Why does she have so little self-respect?’
The corners of his lips were pressed into a thin line, and his entire demeanor radiated a stern, unapproachable seriousness.
Jian Yu looked up in a daze. "That’s not it..."
She looked down at Yin Jiu and muttered, "My standards are very high."
Jian Yu knew she was being a scumbag.
She was unabashedly a scumbag, her words a strange mix of timid and bold. "To be my partner, you have to at least meet your standards. The interstellar community encourages polyamory. I don’t want that many partners... six or seven is fine. If you can’t accept that, you’re free to leave at any time."
Now that she had found her confidence, her words became firm.
Yin Jiu nuzzled against her, looking adorably dazed. "She’s right! They have to be as handsome as my master, just as rich and powerful, and their Level has to be just as high!"
For some reason, Sheng Yue breathed a sigh of relief.
’There are countless good-looking people out there, but not many who are Level 3S like me.’
’That basically meant that besides Duan Feiye, there was no one else who could join.’
’Six or seven isn’t really that many in the grand scheme of the interstellar community. Especially for someone as high-Level as Jian Yu.’
Sheng Yue didn’t know why he’d been so angry. He himself had only joined recently—in fact, just two days before Ji Shiyin.
Jian Yu stared at the large hand gripping her arm, her eyes wide. "Can you let go now?"
