Si Xu said with a deadpan face, "The Feather God detests you."

The curly-haired man sputtered, "What’s with the act? As if nobody’s ever yelled the curse before! Who doesn’t know that line?"

Ling Yanzhi scoffed.

Pei Yin looked at him as if he were a dead man.

Xi Yu looked dazed. ’What’s happening?’

The female colleague nervously completed the final step. "Please... please press here. Thank you."

Jian Yu stepped forward.

The four men behind her reached out in unison. Their long, slender fingers pressed down, and a golden stream of light instantly flowed into the system.

"Identity confirmed."

Level 3S Awakener—Jian Yu.

The curly-haired man scrambled to his feet, grumbling, the angry look frozen on his face.

On the screen, the initial "ID" display exploded into view.

Four names, shimmering in gold and emblazoned with the Federation’s highest insignia, filled the screen.

Imperial Federation Three-star Admiral—Ling Yanzhi (Imperial City Chief)

Imperial Federation Three-star Admiral—Xi Yu (Imperial City Chief)

Imperial Federation Admiral, Feather Clan Saint Heir—Si Xu (Imperial City Chief)

Imperial Federation Vice Admiral, Senior Fellow of the Alliance Research Institute, Military Alliance Medical Officer—Pei Yin (Imperial City Chief)

Jian Yu’s eyes widened. ’Pei Yin has so many titles.’

The curly-haired man’s pupils shrank as he stiffly raised his head.

’It’s real? They didn’t get plastic surgery?!’

"How... How is this possible..." His face turned deathly pale, and cold sweat instantly drenched his back.

He immediately started trying to shift the blame. "It’s those other people! The ones who get plastic surgery for everything! They’re the ones who misled me! I thought you were fakes, I..."

Just then, two other employees arriving for their shift walked in.

A man and a woman, both swaggering arrogantly.

The two of them clearly had no idea what earth-shattering event had just taken place.

"Xiao Fei, why are you on the floor? It’s so dirty."

Seeing the well-connected curly-haired man on the ground, the male colleague looked on with disdain while the female one hurried to help him up.

The curly-haired man’s lips trembled, but the apology he tried to form wouldn’t come out.

His legs, which desperately wanted to kneel and beg for mercy, were held firm and straight by his aunt from the next shift, making it impossible for him to bend them.

’This is infuriating! These stupid legs, and this stupid mouth.’

"Wow, the cosmetic work is really convincing. You guys got lucky. Not like the others who came through, their jobs were hideous." The male colleague with a crew cut had a big mouth and couldn’t keep it shut.

The curly-haired man’s eyes darted. He pulled his aunt aside, trying to make himself less conspicuous.

’Go on, make a scene, say more. That way no one will remember me.’

He shot his aunt a meaningful look.

’Did he provoke someone he shouldn’t have?’ His aunt caught the hint and discreetly glanced at the now-dark screen.

’Anyone who can get their paperwork processed on this floor must have powerful spouses.’

She composed her unpleasant expression, wary of letting her own words bring disaster.

’There were plenty of people who could make her nephew cautious. But to be so scared he was struck speechless...’

’Holy crap!’

’These people definitely didn’t get plastic surgery.’

She didn’t dare make a wrong move.

’This nephew is a goner.’

She pried his hand off. ’Let go!’

"Aunt..." The curly-haired man watched his aunt fling his hand away, and he began to panic.

But luckily for him, the crew-cut man had an even fouler mouth.

The crew-cut man’s tone was condescending and preachy. "Four spouses means you must be a decent Awakener. And as an Awakener, you should know your duty. Stop thinking about getting plastic surgery like them, or looking at all that garbage online. Once you get home, you should make time to have a few kids as soon as possible."

Jian Yu frowned. "This is none of your business."

"What do you mean, none of your business? I tell this to everyone who gets married here. Take a word of advice from me and have kids early," the crew-cut man said, as if imparting some great wisdom.

His gaze lingered on Jian Yu’s stomach.

"Four spouses... such a powerful Awakener bloodline. What a waste it would be not to use it! You should hurry up and have babies. Twins would be even better. You should pop out two or three a year. Do that for eight or ten years, and you’ll still only be in your thirties."

"What’s the use of a woman being powerful? Your value is in giving birth to more children for men, to pass on the Awakener bloodline..."

"Stop thinking about having fun all day. Have kids while you’re young. Look at you, all stick-thin arms and legs. I wonder if you can even carry a child."

His tone was filled with an arrogant condescension that treated women as nothing more than baby factories, and he completely missed the chilling fury rising in Jian Yu’s eyes.

Jian Yu was so disgusted her mind went blank.

Uncontrollable rage erupted from her, wrapped in wisps of purple smoke.

The crew-cut man was about to keep babbling, but his tongue, face, nose—all his exposed skin—was suddenly sliced by a flurry of razor-sharp purple leaves, leaving countless tiny cuts.

He clapped a hand over his mouth, both furious and alarmed, and erected his Soul Beast Cover. "What the hell is wrong with you? I was just looking out for you, telling you to have more kids!"

Jian Yu’s expression was blank. "You’re telling me to give birth. I’m telling you to go die."

The crew-cut man froze, still wanting to get another word in.

Ling Yanzhi glanced down at the new spouse information displayed on his Star Brain.

He nonchalantly lifted his gaze. "Do you want me to cut out that tongue of yours?"

The crew-cut man shut his mouth. He realized the atmosphere around them was terrifyingly oppressive, their sheer presence intimidating.

When he turned his head, he saw his colleagues cowering like frightened quails.

The realization dawned on him, slowly...

Si Xu found him so pathetic he didn’t even want to make a move, fearing it would sully his Soul Beast.

Xi Yu, remembering he was injured and couldn’t fight, said, "Little Eagle, bite him."

Pei Yin: "..."

’Bite him? My ass!’

"Kids, kids, kids. Kids, my ass," Pei Yin’s voice was grim, laced with undisguised malice.

The crew-cut man still hadn’t reacted.

He stared, utterly dumbfounded, at the man striding toward him.

Pei Yin’s bewitching face was now full of disgust.

He looked down his nose at the crew-cut man and unleashed a merciless tirade:

"What’s wrong with you? Can’t have kids yourself, or were the ones you had born without assholes? You start your shift oozing negative energy. What the hell does it have to do with you if she has kids or not?"

"If you love the idea so much, go have some more yourself! You look like a lout, and all you think about is women having babies. Can’t find anyone to have them with you, so you have to pin your hopes on someone else? Do we owe you something?"

"Technology is advanced these days. Why don’t you go get the surgery yourself? Lie in bed and pop out eight or ten kids. After eight or ten years, you’ll only be in your forties. Stop obsessing over other people’s wombs."

The crew-cut man’s face flushed a deep, liverish red.

He trembled with anger. "You... How can you talk like that! I’m a man!"

"A man?" Pei Yin sneered. "I’ll go home and mix up a prescription just for you. We’ll see how you feel after giving birth to eight or ten kids! Then you’ll get to experience what being a ’man’ is really like, and what ’for your own good’ feels like!"

With that, he turned to the curly-haired man, who had already slumped into a chair in terror.

"Is this the kind of service the Interstellar Civil Affairs Bureau provides? Treating my family like breeding machines?"

Pei Yin was so furious he ordered Ting Ying to claw their faces. "They’re even more arrogant than I am."

With a deadpan expression, Jian Yu gave a small nod. "No one is allowed to be more arrogant than us."

Pei Yin: "..."

His whole demeanor just deflated.

Ling Yanzhi couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

The curly-haired man and the crew-cut man clutched their faces, howling in agony as Ting Ying’s claws tore at their skin.

Blood oozed from between their fingers.

The curly-haired man recalled the titles on the screen—especially that one word, "Chief." Looking at the furious Chief Pei before him, he was so terrified he was on the verge of tears.

"I’ve given you enough chances," Pei Yin said coldly. "I want a full account of this incident, and I want it soon. Otherwise, don’t be surprised when I come back tomorrow to cause trouble."

They left behind a dead silence and two men who had passed out from the pain.

The aunt looked at her fainted nephew and closed her eyes.

’He’ll probably be salvageable after a good cleaning.’

’But his job is definitely gone.’

’I wonder if this will affect me.’
