Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 334: The Wait is Finally Over
Chapter 334: Chapter 224: The Wait is Finally Over
After finishing his morning training, Yang Wei strolled over to the Airex team’s office. The others were either away on business trips or conducting store inspections, so only Ji Kun was at his desk, organizing materials for the store visit he was scheduled to make that afternoon.
“Xiaojie, how come you’re the only one here?”
Ji Kun looked up. ‘Damn it, why is he back again?’ The last time Yang Wei had caught him heading out for a store inspection, he’d gotten himself a free, expensive meal out of it. Ji Kun’s wallet was still smarting from the hit. ‘He’s not planning on pulling the same stunt again today, is he?’
Seeing that Ji Kun was preparing for a store inspection that afternoon, Yang Wei’s interest was suddenly piqued. “If I’m free later, maybe I’ll pop by your store to have a look. Oh, but then the rest of the team might get jealous and say their boss is playing favorites. But hey, who told you to be the sharpest one of the bunch?”
Ji Kun felt like crying. It was the first time he’d ever thought being sharp was a sin. Right now, he’d rather be a complete idiot if it meant this moron would just leave him alone.
“So where’s your store visit this afternoon? Xinyue Square again? You know, the food at that Sichuan restaurant was actually pretty good. It’s worth going back to.”
Being as sharp as he was, Ji Kun immediately understood what Yang Wei was implying. He wanted another free Sichuan meal. Ji Kun didn’t dare respond. Another dinner on him and he’d genuinely struggle to get by.
“Oh, Boss, I just remembered. I have some copywriting work to take care of in the office this afternoon, so I’ll have to postpone the store inspection for now.”
Yang Wei looked quite disappointed. “Oh. You know, your team’s current management style has major issues. A sales team’s work is out in the field. What can you possibly achieve by sitting in the office all day? As soon as I’m fully transitioned into my role, I’m going to stamp out this terrible practice.”
Ji Kun’s heart sank. ‘Once this guy is officially in charge, how am I going to survive?’ Thinking about it now, Zhu Jing was probably the smartest one of all. She’d never have to deal with this kind of nonsense again.
“Ji Kun, let’s have lunch. I have some important plans I want to discuss with you beforehand. It’s like I said before: you’re a sharp guy. Any good resources I manage to secure from the company will definitely go to you first.”
Hearing this, Ji Kun’s mind started turning. He remembered how, when Yang Hui first arrived, he had brought immense resources to the team. Could this new guy have similar connections? If he thought Ji Kun was good enough to funnel resources to, that would be a huge boon.
He immediately brightened up. “Of course, Boss! Let me treat you to lunch at that little eatery downstairs. We can just grab a quick bite. It’s where we usually go for team dinners; the food’s not bad.”
Yang Wei didn’t bother with false modesty. “Fine. Seeing as you’re so eager, I’ll give you this chance to treat me. To be honest, I don’t usually accept meals from my subordinates. The social debt is a pain to repay.”
Ji Kun fought back a wave of nausea. ‘Doesn’t like accepting meals from subordinates? I’m not seeing it.’ He could only hope that Yang Wei actually knew the meaning of “repaying a social debt” and see what kind of “surprise” was in store today.
The prices at the rustic diner downstairs were reasonable. A meal for two wouldn’t cost more than 200 yuan. Ji Kun gritted his teeth, deciding to take the gamble.
Of course, Yang Wei did all the ordering, while Ji Kun was relegated to taking notes.
‘Damn it, even at a cheap place like this, he’s not holding back. He ordered four dishes for just the two of us. This asshole must have fleeced his fair share of subordinates at his last job. He’s a real pro at this.’
“Xiaojie, I see your team’s performance this month has been excellent. Your year-over-year and month-over-month growth are the highest in the company. Your target achievement rate is the highest, too.”
Having been forced to spend money, Ji Kun wasn’t in high spirits and just grunted. ‘Of course it’s high,’ he thought. ‘Manager Yang negotiated for promotional resources and subsidized coupons from nearly every mall. Yida Department Store even gave us a ton of group-buy deals. If we *couldn’t* hit number one with all that, we might as well just give up.’
Yang Wei continued, “But don’t get complacent. Today’s performance is nothing to be proud of. I’m confident that with me leading you, and with our combined efforts, our performance will take another great leap forward. Your year-over-year growth is 45% right now, correct? My goal for next month is 50%.”
Ji Kun opened his mouth, wanting to say, ‘Then you’d better get to the malls and ask for more resources. The ones Manager Yang negotiated are only provided on a month-by-month basis.’
But he kept his mouth shut. When it came to this sort of thing, someone who knew how to get it done would do it without being told. And for someone who didn’t, no amount of coaching would help.
“Boss, you mentioned earlier… what were those resources you secured from the company for my team?” He hadn’t forgotten the whole point of this expensive lunch.
The food began to arrive at their table. “Let’s eat while we talk,” Yang Wei said. “Hmm, the food here is mediocre. I guess it’ll do.”
Ji Kun was speechless. ‘Manager Yang drives a Mercedes and he never complained about this place. Who the hell are you to be so picky?’
“Ah, Xiaojie, President Li has given our team an opportunity. You know how a lot of companies have been doing live-selling streams from their stores lately, right?”
Of course he knew. He was very familiar with the concept. Just this month, Yang Hui had arranged for Shen Meng to do a stream at his store. The sales from that event weren’t counted against his performance quota, and on top of that, the store received a 1% bonus on the revenue, which amounted to over ten thousand yuan.
What was he getting at? Was the company planning to run another event like the last one? A smile immediately spread across Ji Kun’s face. “Yes, Boss, I know all about it. My store has hosted one already.”
“Is that so? It must be fate. I was just about to give this opportunity to you, and it’s even better that you have experience. Let me give you the specifics. It requires your store staff to use their downtime to conduct live-selling streams for no less than four hours every day, with daily sales reaching no less than 5,000 yuan.”
Ji Kun froze. This was completely different from the kind of livestream he knew. ‘Stream every day? That would add a massive amount of work for the store staff.’ And what the hell was this daily sales minimum of 5,000 yuan? If a mall was providing resources, 5,000 in sales wasn’t much. But as a requirement from the company… the whole thing felt fishy.
