Chapter 637: Chapter 395: Consecutive Breakthroughs

KRACKLE~

Thick, long cracks spread across the Ice Crystal shell encasing Miss Yun, who stood like a statue of ice.

BANG!

The ice shattered.

Her lush black hair surged in length, hardening into countless black spears that shot toward Egg Pancake, Little Fatty Silkworm, Frost Jade, and finally, Han Ning.

"Activate Overload!"

Han Ning’s expression was grim. His eyes flickered with an intertwining electric glow of brilliant white and dark red.

Behind him, the illusory figure of a Divine Being flickered into existence for a moment before vanishing.

Simultaneously, the three Soul Beasts’ bodies surged in size.

"AWOOO!!"

Even the weakest of them, Frost Jade, amplified by Han Ning’s Profound Moon-grade Spiritual Power, instantly broke through the Awakening realm to reach the Extraordinary rank.

The Flames behind its ears erupted violently.

The entire hound was wreathed in an ethereal blue Flame, transforming into a burning fire-dog as it charged toward Miss Yun, who was still hovering in midair and firing off strands of her hair.

"HISSS..."

Egg Pancake exhaled a frosty breath. The azure Dragon Power flashing between its claws transformed into an overwhelming, thunderous force, instantly obliterating the incoming tide of black hair.

BOOM!

A sonic boom erupted beside him.

Little Fatty Silkworm blurred into a series of afterimages and, at nearly the same moment as Frost Jade, slammed viciously into Miss Yun’s body.

Miss Yun’s body was sent flying, crashing into a pile of ruins.

Seeing its chance, Egg Pancake opened its draconic maw.

A breath attack infused with Dragon Power surged forth.

CRACKLE~

Amplified by Han Ning’s Overload Soul Technique, the power of both Egg Pancake and the All-Encompassing Spiritual Silkworm had temporarily broken through to the War General rank.

Faced with the combined assault of the three Soul Beasts, Miss Yun, who had been so menacing moments before, exploded into a cloud of Ice Crystals and vanished without a trace.

"I hate... I hate you..."

A venomous, resentful shriek echoed faintly in the air.

A pair of eyeballs, brimming with resentment, and a dark red wedding dress fell from the sky.

Han Ning picked up the eyeballs.

He immediately felt a potent negative Energy flow from the eyeballs into his Spiritual World.

[Absorb?]

He glanced at the item Introduction and saw that neither of these things were materials for advancing his sequence. Without hesitation, he silently willed, ’Yes!’

FWOOSH~

Faint sparks appeared on the two items, and they quickly vanished.

[Energy +12,700]

As Miss Yun and her remains vanished, the surrounding environment changed.

...

THUMP THUMP THUMP~

The massive commotion drew attention from all over the city.

The Rongzhou city garrison, constables from the Government Office, guards from the major merchant houses, and various gang members all swarmed to the scene. The crowd stood before the former site of the Ou Mansion, their faces etched with shock as they stared at the vast expanse of ruins.

"Even... even Lord Li, Rongzhou’s greatest expert, couldn’t have caused this much destruction..."

A soldier dressed as a captain slapped his subordinate on the back of the head and barked, "What are you all staring at? Get in there and look for survivors!"

Wan Lianping had rushed over the moment he received the news.

He saw the soldiers gathering the scattered, dismembered body parts and, like a man possessed, charged into the ruins, heaving aside massive boulders with his bare hands.

"Sister! Sister...!"

"Father... Mother..."

"Wait for me! I’ll get you out!"

"CRASH..."

"No, no... that’s not my sister."

The man tossed aside a head with shriveled, withered skin and staggered deeper into the Ou Mansion’s grounds, his steps trembling.

He clung to a sliver of hope. ’Maybe Father, Mother, and my sister are still trapped under the rubble, waiting for me to save them?’

In what was originally the second courtyard of the Ou Mansion.

Wisps of frigid mist permeated the air, and most of the wooden structures had been transformed into Ice Crystals.

The air reeked of cold death.

A small clump of coarse, grayish-white hair lay on the ground before him.

He stepped forward, delicately picked up the strands, and sniffed them.

His heart sank.

’A demon.’

"That damn Ouluan... she really was a demon!"

"It’s my fault... It’s all my fault. I couldn’t bring myself to stop her."

The man clutched his head and slowly sank to the ground, muttering to himself over and over,

"There’s still hope. Father, Mother, my sister... you have to be alright."

After a long time, he managed to compose himself. He stood and walked to the front of the collapsed main hall.

He threw aside several sections of the caved-in roof, revealing what was left of the hall.

Candles had been crushed into red paste. Red paper-cuttings were scattered across the floor. In the center, the large red paper bearing the "double happiness" character for weddings lay torn into a dozen pieces.

Wan Lianping’s steps slowed, but his heart pounded faster and faster.

Then he saw it—several tufts of dark hair, just barely visible from beneath a large stone.

He strode forward and heaved the stone aside.

A head appeared before him, its skin shriveled like a dried orange peel. A few glittering Gold ornaments were still tangled in its messy, tattered black hair.

THUD.

Wan Lianping’s legs gave out, and he fell to his knees. He picked up the head. One side was caved in, but he could still vaguely recognize the face of his sister. Tears he could no longer hold back streamed from his eyes.

"My sister... my sister..."

He sobbed, his cries gut-wrenching. He unconsciously stroked Miss Yun’s head before clutching it tightly to his chest.

An endless tide of resentment gathered around him.

His hair began to turn white at a visible rate.

He snapped his head up.

His hate-filled gaze seemed to pierce through time and space, locking onto Han Ning.

BOOM~

The scene shattered.

Everything became exceptionally quiet.

He was in a quiet courtyard, shrouded in Darkness.

Han Ning looked up. Once again, a massive, tightly sealed door blocked his path.

Forty-nine stone towers stood silent, like a congregation of giants bathed in Darkness, watching him without a sound.
