Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 1145 - 14: Fire from a Short Circuit

  • Next Chapter

Leaving the RV, Chen Wen and the guide returned to the camp.

Everyone looked at Chen Wen, Hua Yun had already set up the framework for the campfire, and used stones to build a simple stove beside it.

"How’s it going, did you find any suitable fire-starting material?"

Hua Yun asked.

Chen Wen nodded and took out the pack of paper.

"So how do we start the fire now? I just checked, the wood nearby is very damp, and the firewood is somewhat moist too, none of it can be used for friction fire-starting."

Adam added.

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen took out something he had brought from the RV and spoke with a smile, "Use this."

Everyone watched as Chen Wen took out a small emergency flashlight from his hand.

"Wow, you actually found this thing, looks like we can get a fire going,"

Adam said with a smile.

However, the guide shook his head and said, "You want to use the battery to start a fire, right? But this thing won’t work, it doesn’t have removable batteries inside, even if you take them out, they can’t be used."

Upon hearing this, Hua Yun walked over.

She was somewhat curious and asked, "Are you planning to use that method?"

"Yes."

Chen Wen nodded.

Gaston, sitting by, knocked the ground and shouted, "Stop keeping us in suspense, what’s the method?"

Chen Wen turned on the flashlight, checked the battery’s charge, and said, "Simple, short-circuit method, make this thing short-circuit to create sparks, then the sparks ignite the paper."

Upon hearing this, the two guides were a bit puzzled.

Could this method really work?

However, Adam and his group nodded, they had heard of using a short circuit to start a fire.

But whether this method could be effective or not was still an unknown.

No matter what others thought, Chen Wen was already taking action.

He asked Hua Yun to help tear the paper open and rub it until it became fluffy, then stacked a small pile of firewood.

Once Hua Yun was done, Chen Wen figured out the flashlight’s circuitry.

He pulled apart two wires, twisted them together, and opened the flashlight’s switch.

Sizzle!

Bright electric sparks flashed, quickly bursting and landing on the paper.

Seeing the sparks ignite, Chen Wen quickly reached out his hand to protect it, preventing the wind from blowing away the weak sparks.

Sparks lasted only an instant, so this chance had to be seized!

Chen Wen focused and began his action.

As the white, slightly fluffy paper caught fire from the sparks, spots of red appeared on the paper.

Chen Wen protected the paper and gently blew air, letting the burning spots touch more of the paper.

The red spots slowly spread, under Chen Wen’s gentle blows they continued along the paper’s fibers.

About a few seconds later, Chen Wen flipped the paper in his hand, and the formerly faint light instantly dimmed.

The two guides leaned closer, watching Chen Wen’s actions.

Initially, they couldn’t see clearly, but as the light dimmed, they both feared the worst.

It seemed this attempt might end in failure.

Thus thought the guide.

But at that moment, Chen Wen gently blew on his hand, and a wisp of orange-red smoke gently rose from his hand.

In the next second, there seemed to be a sound of ’puff’.

The flame leaped up, and Chen Wen immediately placed the burning paper among the firewood, igniting it and starting the fire.

"Beautiful!"

Seeing Chen Wen complete the fire-starting process, Gaston couldn’t help but applaud.

Roland and the others also nodded repeatedly, Chen Wen’s fire-starting skills had truly reached masterful levels.

He was skilled at gauging the direction of the flame and adjusting the twist of the paper to make the fire burn.

Chen Wen clapped his hands, a hint of smile on his face, "Not bad, the fire is up, let’s get ready to cook dinner later."

Having said that, Chen Wen looked up at the sky.

It wasn’t dark yet.

The two guides recovered from their shock.

"You folks from the Survival Association are amazing!"

The guide gave a thumbs up, then went to handle the Siberian Roe Deer.

The other guide set up a rack nearby, retrieved a few sealed barrels of drinking water and a large pot from the RV, used drinking water to scrub the pot, and picked up some burning firewood.

This guide was also adept at lighting the stove, he started boiling water so everyone could have some hot tea.

Later they could also cook meat right there.

After setting up the pot, the guide returned to the RV and brought out seasonings and various meat-cooking spices.

Chen Wen and the others didn’t need to do anything.

They cleared an area around the campfire, sat on the ground, and began chatting idly.

As they chatted, Fred’s artistic streak seemed to kick in, he even tapped rhythm while singing a folk song from Russia here.

Very relaxing!

Chen Wen thought, lying on the ground.

Previously, he was always busy surviving, busy leveling up the system, busy making money, later he was busy participating in the Eight Extremes Challenge.

Along the way, there was seldom time for relaxation like this.

He realized that after being tense, it wasn’t bad to relax a bit.

Chen Wen thought, his fatigue evaporating.

Looking up at the clear night sky, even though it was northern winter, there were still some stars visible.

Chen Wen suddenly smiled.

Nearby, Hua Yun and others noticed Chen Wen’s actions and turned to look at him.

Fred, inspired by the singing, asked Chen Wen, "What’s up? Suddenly laughing, did you remember something happy? Share it with us so we can hear too."

At these words, Chen Wen chuckled and said, "Fred, I feel what I remembered isn’t suitable to share here, but if you want me to say it, I still can."

This successfully piqued the curiosity of everyone, even Fred was intrigued.

He said, "Just say whatever, say what you want, we are not outsiders here."

The camaraderie among them was obvious.

Chen Wen recalled how since coming here, he had interacted with Hua Yun.

Of course, at that time they were at odds across the sea.

Later, in the Desert Death Battle, he met Adam, Gaston, and Roland.

Back then, Adam posed some pressure to Chen Wen, he was the most popular rookie king then.

But after being defeated by Chen Wen, this title fell to Chen Wen instead.

As for Gaston, this guy partnered with Chen Wen to take down a foul-mouthed Hei, their relationship was good from the start.

That Hei now switched careers, following Chen Wen’s advice, first engaging in game streaming; his notoriety brought him fame for a while, now considered a streamer, and he films survival videos too.

As for Roland, he was saved by Chen Wen during a fever, forging a deep bond between them.
