Chapter 1423: Chapter 1423: Of Course, I’ll Listen to You

"Knox Simmons, you’re too amazing."

As someone who’s only capable of making tomato omelet noodles and scrambled eggs, Scarlett Yates truly thought Knox Simmons was incredible.

Receiving praise from someone he liked, Knox was undeniably pleased inside. With a slight curl of his thin lips, he said cheerfully, "It’s nothing. Today, the ingredients were a bit lacking. Otherwise, I could have prepared a whole feast for you."

Scarlett was initially past her hunger, but as she caught a whiff of the food’s aroma, her stomach started rumbling again.

She swallowed her saliva, sat down, and without any pretense, dug in, taking two quick bites. After swallowing the food, she looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with admiration, "It tastes great."

Seeing her devour the food ravenously, Knox felt both heartache and satisfaction, feeling that the culinary skills he’d picked up during his bored downtime had not gone to waste.

Scarlett was genuinely hungry. After saying another sentence to him, she buried her head and continued eating.

One serving of pasta, one bowl of seaweed egg drop soup, she cleared it all completely.

After finishing, she contentedly patted her stomach, looked up, and marveled, "Knox Simmons, you’re truly someone who can handle matters both in the living room and the kitchen."

Knox immediately threw her a flirty wink, "I’m so great, have you taken a liking to me? How about deciding to give yourself to me?"

Scarlett laughed, "Such an important decision, let me think it over. Though you’re performing well now, it’s only over time that true qualities are revealed. I’ve got to observe a little longer."

Knox immediately held her hand, his captivating Peach Blossom Eyes gazing at her intensely, "So, this means Baby Scarlett is willing to give me a chance? Don’t worry, I’ll surely perform well, and won’t let you down. If you say east, I won’t head west. As long as Baby Scarlett is happy, I’ll do whatever you say."

"You’ll do whatever I say?" Scarlett glanced at the "wolf paw" tightly gripping her hand.

Knox agreed without hesitation, "Of course, I’ll do whatever you say."

"Then can you move your paw off my hand?"

--

After the meal, Knox piled the leftovers in the kitchen, saying someone would come to clean them the next day.

The night was already deep. After showering and coming out of the bathroom, Scarlett saw Knox searching for something at the cabinet in the living room. After rummaging for a while, he retrieved a small packet similar to a cold remedy.

He poured the contents of the packet into a cup, mixed it with hot water, and walked over to Scarlett with the cup, "Baby Scarlett, drink this before sleeping."

"What’s this?" Scarlett looked at the murky water in the cup, her eyebrows furrowing.

It looked... kind of like poison.

"Cold remedy," Knox handed her the cup, "Drink it quickly. It has sleep-inducing ingredients, so you can sleep better after."

Knox had never taken care of any woman like this before.

He was with those women just for fun, to pass the time, and the one and only woman he had ever tenderly cared for was his first love, Tiffany Buss.

This, of course, Scarlett had no idea about.

She thought to herself that Knox really was a master in the art of romance, having such expertise in gaining a woman’s favor.

She frowned, held her breath, and downed the murky water in the cup in one gulp.

Knox nodded in satisfaction, "It’s getting late, and you’ve had a long day. Get a good night’s sleep, and once you’re rested, we’ll go to that new seafood barbecue place on Kindview Street. I promise you’ll love it."
