Chapter 1422: Chapter 1422: No Chance to Show Off

Scarlett Yates really didn’t believe Knox Simmons could cook.

So she stood still at the kitchen door and watched Knox expertly crack an egg into a bowl, whisk it skillfully, without spilling a single drop.

"What, you don’t believe me?" Knox asked as he finished whisking the eggs and started chopping vegetables.

The knife skills weren’t exceptional, not like someone who cooks regularly, but didn’t seem clumsy either.

Only now did Scarlett feel that Knox had indeed been in the kitchen before, not just joking around with her.

"Otherwise, let me be your assistant." Scarlett felt if she did nothing and just waited to eat, she’d feel kind of awkward.

"No need, you can go; your presence here would just lower my efficiency."

Knox chopped with a steady rhythm, and within no time, minced the beef into fine pieces: "If you truly want to help, you could feed the fish in the living room, or water the flowers on the balcony."

As the water in the pot boiled, he tossed the pasta in, while starting another pot for the meat sauce.

Scarlett stood at the door for a while, realizing she indeed couldn’t help much, so she said, "Alright, I’m heading out."

--

There was a large fish tank in the living room, filled with various tropical fish, colorful and very beautiful.

Beside the tank was the fish feed; knowing someone would feed them every other day, Scarlett didn’t dare to overfeed, fearing she’d bloat the fish, and sprinkled a sparse handful.

After feeding the fish, Scarlett went to the balcony to water the flowers.

Opening the floor-to-ceiling window, she saw that Knox really maintained quite a number of plants, the balcony resembling a miniature garden, with flower pots filling the racks.

Over twenty types of flowers, half of which were blooming.

When she finished watering the pots and headed back in, she saw Knox, now donning an apron, had already set the table with knives and forks.

She froze for a moment, as Knox waved her over, saying, "Scarlett, come here quickly, it’s ready to serve."

This process was truly quick.

Scarlett walked over, staring at the two steaming plates of beef tomato sauce spaghetti and seaweed egg drop soup on the table, stunned for a full half minute.

She had little confidence in Knox’s cooking skills, thinking that a Young Master who never lifted a finger beyond leisure cooking for her was more than good enough.

As for taste and presentation, there was no need for scrutiny; if it was edible, that was satisfactory.

But Knox’s cooking skills were far beyond what she had imagined.

The two plates of spaghetti not only looked appetizing but their aroma was very enticing; if the full score was ten, they definitely deserved a seven.

Knox removed the apron and graciously pulled out a chair for her, somewhat displeased as he complained, "The fridge has so few ingredients; I rarely come here, so there’s not much prepared. I could only manage to whip up some pasta. There’s absolutely no room for showcasing my skills. Tomorrow, let’s go to the supermarket, buy some food you like. Unless it’s something only a professional chef can make, everything else I can cook for you."

As he spoke these words, he appeared like a family man, quite unlike his usual image and demeanor.

The charming and flirtatious Young Master of the Simmons Family, how could he possibly be a domestic type?

Yet here he was, earnestly discussing issues of daily ingredients and cooking with her.
