Chapter 1421: Chapter 1421: A Man for All Occasions

This is what Knox Simmons calls "just a simple renovation"?

She really thought he’d just casually fixed the place up a bit, but the luxurious decor in front of her was so extravagant it practically dazzled her eyes.

Seeing her frozen in place, staring straight into the apartment, Knox scratched his head in embarrassment and said, "It’s a bit rough, huh? You’ll have to make do for now."

"...It’s already amazing."

If this kind of living condition still counts as "making do," then most people’s homes wouldn’t even be fit to look at.

"The slippers are a bit big, you just make do with them for tonight. Tomorrow I’ll go out with you and buy some daily necessities."

Scarlett Yates lowered her head and looked at the men’s slippers sitting on the doormat by the door, a little surprised inside.

Looks like Knox really has never brought any other woman here.

She changed shoes and followed him in. Knox headed straight to the kitchen, opened the fridge and grabbed a pile of snacks: "Scarlett, have some snacks first to tide you over. I’ll whip up something to eat. At most half an hour, and I promise you’ll be eating something hot."

He basically took out every snack in the fridge, hugged them out, and dumped a whole pile onto the coffee table in the living room.

Calling him in the middle of the night to come pick her up had already made Scarlett feel guilty. Now hearing that he was going to go back out to buy food, she felt even worse: "Knox, these snacks are more than enough. Don’t go out again. It’s freezing, and all the shops must be closed by now. You’d be going for nothing."

Knox’s lips curved in a smile. "Who said I’m going out?"

Scarlett blinked, looking at him in confusion. "Didn’t you just say you were going to get something to eat?"

He lifted his two handsome, sword-like brows, rubbed his hands together, then turned and walked toward the kitchen. "Scarlett, if you want something done right, do it yourself. I’ll check what’s in the fridge—we’ll eat whatever we’ve got. Tonight we’ll just make do with a simple meal. Tomorrow I’ll take you out for a feast."

It took Scarlett a few more seconds to process that, then her eyes filled with shock. "Knox Simmons, you can cook?"

He turned his head, those long, narrow peach blossom eyes hooking into a smile as he looked at her. "So surprising? Sweetie Scarlett, I can do a lot more than you think. Let me tell you, I’m the full package—polished in public, handy in the kitchen. A good man like me, who’s got domestic skills, good looks, and money all in one, is practically going extinct. If you run into one, you better cherish him. Miss this village and there’s no next inn."

Scarlett’s mouth fell open like someone had stuffed a whole egg in it. She stared at him for a long moment, like she was watching the sun rise in the west, her eyes full of disbelief. "Seriously? Knox Simmons, is what you make actually edible?"

She was deeply skeptical. ℯℯ𝘭.

The pampered Young Master of the Simmons Family, same as Matthew Saxon—ten fingers that never touch spring water.

Just look at Knox’s ten white, delicate, scallion-like fingers and you can tell.

She tagged along with Knox into the kitchen.

Knox opened the fridge, leaned his head in a little, then after a moment turned and said, "How about some pasta? With what we’ve got in here, that’s pretty much all I can make."

Scarlett felt a bit sheepish. "I only know how to make tomato fried-egg noodles."

"Who said you’re doing anything? Go out and sit nicely, don’t worry about a thing. I’ll call you when it’s done." Knox moved quickly; in just a few motions he’d taken out all the ingredients for pasta, and even tied on a checkered apron, looking the part.
