Chapter 1477: Chapter 1477: Thanks for the Allowance
Matthew Saxon shrugged: "As long as you like it. I’ve worn this watch band for years, and I was thinking about changing it anyway."
How could he not understand his grandfather’s quirks?
Ian Douglas has who knows how many watches and even made a special cabinet to store them. Being so pleased over this one watch must be because it was won.
In Ian’s eyes, anything belonging to others is always better, especially something taken from his cunning grandson—that’s even more desirable.
Ian looked at the watch again and again and then reached out the hand with the watch toward Scarlett Yates, asking cheerfully, "Scarlett, don’t you think I look more charming and stylish with this watch?"
Uh...
Scarlett glanced up at Matthew and then down at the stack of bills on her desk. Finally, she nodded.
Ian had purposely lost so much money to her, and as the saying goes, you’re obliged to someone if you accept their money. She couldn’t just take the money and not support him.
With Scarlett’s approval, Ian felt even more pleased. "See, even Scarlett says so, Matthew, do you concede?"
It’s often said that aging leads to regression, and as people age, many of their behaviors become more childlike.
Matthew had seen this clearly and thoroughly in Ian.
Really, it’s just a watch, isn’t it? But he’s so pleased.
As if they had a telepathic connection, Scarlett also found Ian childishly adorable, seeing him so joyfully bobbing his head, she couldn’t help but laugh.
Before, Scarlett couldn’t stand Ian, and felt no affection for him at all.
Who could blame Ian for always meeting her with hostility, disdain, and scorn?
People are mutual in their feelings—if Ian didn’t like her, she naturally couldn’t like him either.
But now, Ian’s attitude toward her had changed dramatically, almost as if they’d gone from enemies to friends, and her attitude toward him had gradually changed, too.
She thought that, right now, Ian seemed pretty cute.
After feeling pleased, Ian gave Matthew a quick glance and said, "You’re dressed so formally, heading out?"
"Mm." Matthew nodded and then looked at Scarlett, "Scarlett, didn’t you agree to go out for dinner tonight? It’s almost time, I’ll drive you there."
Ian said, "Since you’ve got plans, no need to stay here. Get on with your business."
Indeed, it was getting late.
Scarlett and Knox Simmons had plans for seven in the evening.
In winter, it gets dark early, and outside it was already pitch black.
Scarlett stood up, and before rising, she folded the stack of money on her desk and slowly put it into her bag.
She waved her wallet towards Ian, smiling, "Grandpa, thanks for the pocket money. I’m gladly accepting it."
Ian had lost quite a bit of money to her, and back in the day, it would’ve lasted her six months.
Ian squinted, raising his eyes to look at her, smiling broadly, "Scarlett, gomoku is quite fun. Let’s play again when you come back."
Of course, Scarlett agreed immediately.
Playing with Ian not only killed time but also earned her pocket money—why not enjoy it?
