Chapter 1528: Scarlett, I’m Cold

  • Next Chapter

After speaking, she obediently ate the porridge.

Matthew Saxon watched her eat, a smile appearing at the corner of his lips: “That’s more like it.”

“You said earlier, if I eat a bite, you will eat a bite.” Scarlett Yates wiped her mouth and looked down at him, “You can’t go back on your word.”

“Of course, I always keep my promises.” He said, scooping himself another spoonful of porridge.

The bowl of porridge was finished with her taking a bite and then him taking a bite.

One portion of porridge wasn’t much; the two of them feeding each other spoonful by spoonful like that quickly finished it.

Scarlett Yates saw that he seemed to have a good appetite, so she said, “I’ll go buy another portion, you didn’t eat much, it’s easy to get hungry drinking porridge.”

Saying this, she already stood up.

“No need, Scarlett, I’ve already eaten enough.” Matthew Saxon held her hand.

His fingers were cold, with no warmth at all, clasping her wrist like a layer of cold wrapped around her hand.

He pulled her back down to sit, his pale lips gently curving upwards with a faint smile, his voice very soft: “Don’t go anywhere, just stay and sit with me for a while.”

“Then… shall I pour you some hot water?”

He shook his head, somewhat helplessly, saying with a smile: “No need, don’t do anything, if I wanted to drink, I’d naturally tell you, but right now I just want you to stay by my side and talk with me, just obediently sit here.”

Scarlett Yates turned her hand to tightly clasp his: “Alright, I’ll chat with you for a while.”

His hand was really cold, like it had been soaked in icy water for an hour; Scarlett Yates tried to warm him with the warmth from her palm.

“Matthew Saxon, you… um… that…” She sat for a while, not knowing how to start; if possible, she truly wished she wouldn’t have to bring up those disappointing things.

But some words had to be said, even if once spoken they would ruin the atmosphere.

“What do you want to say?” Matthew Saxon’s voice was very gentle, gentle enough to melt her heart.

“I…” Scarlett Yates felt her tongue seemed tied, her throat felt blocked, unable to make a sound for a long while.

Matthew Saxon smiled softly, patting the spot next to him, moving his body inward: “Lie down beside me, I want to hold you.”

“Uh…”

She hesitated for a moment, her face slightly flushed.

“Scarlett, I’m cold.” Matthew Saxon looked at her, his eyes a bit pitiful, lightly coughing and saying, “I’m really cold, holding you might make me less cold.”

He rarely looked at her with such a vulnerable gaze.

In front of her, Matthew Saxon had always been proud, self-assured, arrogant, and invincible.

He had a natural arrogance within him, never showing weakness under any circumstances.

To see Matthew Saxon showing a pitiful side was harder than reaching the sky.

I guess even if someone put a knife to his neck, he wouldn’t bow his head and surrender.

But now, he showed her that pitiful look, like a wounded leopard, shedding his domineering and dangerous side, revealing his fragile side to her.

Scarlett Yates’ heart immediately softened into a puddle.

“Okay, I’ll lie down next to you.”

She took off her coat, and he pulled her, drawing her onto the bed.

The hospital bed was for a single person.
