Chapter 120: Chapter 120 The Three Realms of the Immortal World

Inside the Lin Clan’s Family Hall, all the clan’s senior members had gathered.

At the head of the hall sat Lin Hao, the Ancestor of the Lin Clan.

Lin Wei, the Family Head, sat among the senior members, while Grand Elder Lin Jian and the other elders took their seats.

Lin Cangyuan, Lin Yuxian and Long Haoran were there too.

Once everyone had arrived, they all stood and bowed.

"Greetings, Ancestor!"

Lin Hao waved his hand.

"No need for formalities. Sit down."

"Thank you, Ancestor!"

They sat, wondering why he had called them.

Lin Hao set his teacup on the table.

"There’s something important I want everyone to know. A Calamity is coming to the Mortal World."

The hall went silent.

"Calamity?"

"What kind of Calamity, Ancestor?"

"Has something happened?"

Their faces turned serious at once.

Only Lin Cangyuan, Lin Yuxian and Long Haoran stayed calm.

They had come from worlds far beyond the Mortal World, and they knew threats existed on a much larger scale. Their main concern here was the Lin Clan.

The others had never expected to hear a word like that.

Grand Elder Lin Jian spoke first.

"Ancestor, what kind of Calamity are we facing?"

"The younger generation brought back word from the Primordial Sealing Ruin," Lin Hao said. "The ancient voice warned that ancient demons, sealed away since the Primordial Era, may become a threat again. And the seals are connected to the ruin."

The mood in the hall changed.

"If those demons were strong enough to threaten the world in the Primordial Era, how strong are they now?"

"Could they really break free?"

"What would happen to the Mortal World if they came back?"

The questions came one after another.

The Lin Clan had grown far stronger under the Ancestor’s guidance.

But its members knew there were countless powerful existences still beyond their reach.

A threat that could endanger the whole Mortal World wasn’t something they could brush aside.

Lin Wei turned to Lin Hao.

"Ancestor, what should the clan do?"

Before Lin Hao could answer, Lin Yuxian, who had been listening quietly, spoke.

"Demons? They exist everywhere. The Immortal World, the Mortal World, and the worlds beyond. Their existence alone isn’t surprising."

The members turned to her in astonishment.

"Even the Immortal World has demons?"

"They exist in the Divine World as well," Long Haoran added.

Silence again.

The Immortal World was already beyond what most of them could imagine.

The Divine World was further still.

Yet these two spoke of demons in both places as though it were common knowledge.

Lin Hao’s eyes lit up.

"Oh? So that’s why you two looked so unbothered. Tell me more. Start with the Immortal World."

Lin Yuxian straightened.

"Ancestor, the Immortal World is divided into three major realms. The Human Realm, the Beast Realm, and the Demon Realm."

The members listened closely.

"The Human Realm is ruled mainly by human cultivators. It holds countless immortal clans, sects and cities, and its people cultivate Immortal Qi."

She paused.

"The Beast Realm belongs mainly to powerful beasts. Dragons, phoenixes, qilins and countless other beast races hold their own territories and inheritances, and they cultivate Beast Qi."

Not every beast lived there. Some clans held land in the Human Realm, and others traveled between regions. But the Beast Realm was the true home of the beast races.

"And the Demon Realm is ruled by demons. Its people cultivate Demon Qi, and countless demon races live there, each with different bloodlines, abilities and methods."

She looked around the hall.

"The three realms have their own territories and their own rulers. They don’t all share the same interests. But since the last great war, they have kept the peace."

One of the elders raised a question.

"Senior Lin Yuxian, does that mean demons never enter the Human Realm?"

"Not at all. The territories are separate, but their people aren’t sealed off from each other. Demons can enter the Human Realm, and humans and beasts can travel to the others. Some even keep friendships across the borders."

She added,

"But a few individuals crossing over is very different from a whole realm declaring war on the others. Since that last great war, there have been disputes and small clashes, but nothing on the same scale."

Grand Elder Lin Jian frowned.

"Then why were the demons sealed in the Mortal World at all? If the three realms have kept the peace for so long, why would they threaten us now?"

Lin Yuxian thought about it.

"That’s exactly what needs to be investigated. The existence of demons isn’t proof that a Calamity is coming. But if the seals in the Mortal World are weakening, something is happening that needs attention."

Lin Hao nodded.

"That makes sense. Haoran?"

Long Haoran took over.

"The Divine World has its own powerful races and forces, and demons live there too. It has had conflicts with them as well, though its history differs from the Immortal World’s."

His voice stayed steady.

"The point is that demons aren’t a problem unique to the Mortal World. They exist throughout the greater world, and their strength and influence differ from place to place."

The members listened with growing amazement.

They had thought the demons the ancient voice spoke of were a threat only to the Mortal World.

Now they learned demons lived in worlds far beyond their own.

One elder finally asked,

"Senior Long Haoran, if demons exist in all those worlds, are they constantly at war?"

"No. Their existence doesn’t mean war. There have been periods of peace and periods of conflict, and each conflict has its own causes."

He paused.

"And we should not assume the Calamity in the Mortal World is part of some larger war. We don’t have enough information for that."

The members nodded slowly.

His answers had settled some questions and raised others.

If demons were an ordinary part of the greater world, why had the ones sealed in the Mortal World become such a danger?

And why was the Calamity coming now, after so long?

Lin Hao tapped his fingers against the armrest.

"Then the real question isn’t whether demons exist elsewhere. It’s whether the ones sealed here are about to break free, and what they’ll do if they do."

"Precisely, Ancestor," said Lin Yuxian.

"Until we know more, we shouldn’t assume the demons here answer to the Demon Realm," Long Haoran added. "Nor should we assume the Divine World is involved."

Lin Cangyuan agreed.

"The Mortal World has its own circumstances. We should investigate them separately."

Lin Hao smiled faintly.

"Good. At least we know what we know, and what we don’t."

He looked around the hall.

"To answer your question, Wei, for now the clan should carry on as usual. Keep cultivating, keep your families calm, and don’t spread rumors. There’s no need to panic over something we haven’t fully investigated. But we won’t ignore the warning either."

Everyone straightened.

"Understood, Ancestor!"

Lin Hao leaned back in his chair.

What he didn’t say was that he already knew more than anyone in the room.

The demons wouldn’t wait for an investigation.

And it wouldn’t be long before they came.
