Chapter 123: Chapter 123 The Little Bully Of The Lin Clan

The Lin Clan’s Beast Garden was unusually lively that morning.

The Ancient White Tiger sat beneath a spiritual tree in human form, a tall, muscular man with white hair.

Nearby, the Ancient Phoenix, a beautiful woman with an elegant bearing, was enjoying the peaceful morning.

The Ancient Roc stood beside a stone pavilion, watching the commotion with mild amusement.

The other beasts were resting elsewhere in the garden, making the most of a rare moment of peace.

Unfortunately, Lin Xian’er had other plans.

The little girl stood in front of the Ancient White Tiger with her hands on her hips.

"You’re supposed to listen to me!"

The Ancient White Tiger glanced down at her.

"And why should I?"

Lin Xian’er froze.

She clearly hadn’t expected him to question her authority.

"Because I’m your boss!"

The Ancient White Tiger raised an eyebrow.

"Who appointed you?"

"I did!"

The Ancient Phoenix laughed softly.

Lin Xian’er spun toward her.

"And you! Don’t laugh!"

The Ancient Phoenix covered her mouth, though the amusement in her eyes was obvious.

Beside the stone path, Lin Xin was struggling to hide her smile.

Lin Wan’er had already given up trying to look serious.

Lin Shiyu watched with the calm face of someone who had seen this many times before.

"Xian’er," Lin Xin called, "maybe you should find someone who actually wants to listen to you."

Lin Xian’er puffed out her cheeks.

"Everyone here is being difficult!"

The Ancient Roc glanced over from the pavilion.

"Perhaps the problem isn’t everyone else."

Lin Xian’er stared at her in disbelief.

Even the Ancient Roc was against her?

Fine!

If these great beasts wouldn’t acknowledge her authority, she would find someone who would.

Someone who would follow her around, carry things for her, and listen whenever she had something important to say.

Her eyes lit up.

She needed a follower!

---

A short while later, Lin Xian’er arrived at one of the courtyards where the clan’s younger children gathered to play and practice basic techniques.

Several children were chasing one another around a stone table.

Lin Tian and Lin Wuji were arguing over a wooden sword, while Lin Huang sat on the steps, watching them with very little interest.

The triplets followed Lin Xian’er at a leisurely pace.

They had already guessed she was planning something.

They simply wanted to see what.

Lin Xian’er climbed onto the lowest step and raised both hands.

"Everyone, listen!"

The children gradually turned.

Lin Tian looked up from his argument.

"What are you doing now, Xian’er?"

"I’m recruiting followers!"

The courtyard went quiet.

Then Lin Wuji burst out laughing.

"Followers? What are you, a sect master?"

Lin Xian’er pointed at him.

"You can apply if you want!"

"I’d rather not."

"Then don’t interrupt!"

Lin Huang finally looked interested.

"What does a follower have to do?"

Lin Xian’er thought about it seriously.

"Follow me, listen to me, and help me whenever I need something."

"Like what?" asked Lin Tian.

"Like getting snacks."

Lin Tian immediately lost interest.

"Find someone else."

Lin Xian’er ignored him and turned to the others.

"Who wants to be my follower?"

A few children looked at one another.

Lin Ming, a boy standing near the stone table, raised his hand halfway, then quickly lowered it when Lin Xian’er looked his way.

She narrowed her eyes.

"Lin Ming! I saw that!"

"I didn’t say anything!"

"You were thinking about it."

"You can’t know what I’m thinking!"

"I can!"

Lin Xin quietly leaned toward Lin Wan’er.

"She gets more unreasonable every day."

Lin Wan’er nodded.

"At this rate, she’ll recruit the entire clan."

"Don’t say that where she can hear you," Lin Shiyu warned.

Unfortunately, Lin Xian’er had excellent hearing.

She turned toward them.

"That’s a wonderful idea!"

The triplets immediately regretted speaking.

Before they could stop her, Lin Xian’er had begun pointing at the children one by one, deciding who was good enough to join her little group.

"You. You look clever."

The boy she pointed at shook his head.

"You. You look strong."

That child promptly hid behind his friend.

Lin Xian’er frowned.

"Why is everyone running away? Being my follower is an honor!"

"Then why don’t you follow someone else?" Lin Wuji asked.

Lin Xian’er glared at him.

"You’re not helping!"

"I’m not trying to."

Her gaze swept across the courtyard and landed on a boy standing beside the stone table.

His name was Lin Jun.

He had the look of someone who didn’t like being ordered around.

When she pointed at him, he shook his head right away.

"No."

Lin Xian’er blinked.

"What did you say?"

"I said no. I don’t want to be your follower."

The courtyard grew very quiet.

Lin Xian’er stepped closer.

"Why not?"

"Because I don’t want to."

"That’s not a good reason!"

"It’s a perfectly good reason!"

Lin Jun folded his arms.

"Besides, I’m a boy. Why should I follow a little girl around?"

Lin Tian sucked in a breath.

Lin Wuji slowly turned his head toward his brother.

Lin Huang sat up straight.

Even the triplets stopped smiling.

They all knew Lin Xian’er was playful, but there was one thing she hated more than anything.

Being told she couldn’t do something because she was a girl.

Her little face went very still.

"Lin Jun."

He swallowed, but held his ground.

"What?"

"Do you want to fight?"

Lin Jun straightened at once.

"Don’t think I’m afraid of you just because you’re stronger!"

Lin Xian’er smiled.

It was a very sweet smile.

Lin Xin covered her eyes.

"Oh, dear."

---

Lin Jun barely had time to react before a thin layer of frost spread across the ground beneath his feet.

Cold mist curled around his shoes.

He tried to step forward.

His feet didn’t move.

He looked down.

Then he looked up at Lin Xian’er.

"What did you do?!"

She put her hands on her hips.

"You’re supposed to become my follower after you admit defeat."

"I haven’t lost!"

"Then why aren’t you moving?"

Lin Jun tugged at one foot.

It stayed stuck to the frozen ground.

He pulled harder.

Nothing.

The other children stared at him.

Lin Wuji leaned toward Lin Tian and whispered, "Should we help him?"

Lin Tian shook his head.

"Do you want her to recruit you next?"

Lin Wuji immediately stepped back.

Lin Jun glared at Lin Xian’er.

"You caught me off guard!"

"That’s what a loser says."

"I’m not a loser!"

"Then move!"

Lin Jun struggled again.

His right foot finally came loose, and his face brightened.

"See? I—"

Before he could finish, Lin Xian’er gently tapped the ground with her little foot.

A fresh layer of frost spread under his freed shoe.

His other foot got stuck again.

Lin Jun stared at her in disbelief.

The courtyard erupted in laughter.

Even Lin Shiyu had to turn away to hide her smile.

Lin Xian’er nodded with satisfaction.

"Now you can’t run away before you answer me."

"You’re cheating!"

"Cheating? I never agreed to fight fairly!"

"That’s not how fighting works!"

"Then you should have thought of that before you challenged me."

Lin Jun opened his mouth, closed it, and tried pulling his foot free again.

The frost refused to cooperate.

Lin Xian’er crouched in front of him.

"Well? Will you become my follower?"

"No!"

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely!"

She tilted her head.

"Even if I give you snacks?"

Lin Jun hesitated.

The children stared at him.

Lin Xian’er noticed it at once.

"Two spiritual fruits every day."

His expression wavered.

Lin Tian covered his face.

"Brother, don’t do it."

"Three," Lin Xian’er offered generously.

Lin Jun’s eyes drifted toward the spiritual fruits hanging from a nearby tree.

For one dangerous moment, it looked as though the whole dispute might end in a simple snack deal.

Then he remembered his dignity.

"No! I won’t become your follower just for fruit!"

Lin Xian’er sighed.

"You’re making this so difficult."

She stood and dusted off her hands.

"Fine. Stay there and think about your decision."

"You’re leaving me like this?!"

"Of course not. Someone will find you."

"When?!"

Lin Xian’er considered it.

"Soon."

"Xian’er!"

The little girl had already turned away.

Behind her, the children could barely hold back their laughter.

The triplets exchanged a look.

They had a feeling this wouldn’t end well.

They were right.

---

"Lin Xian’er!"

A stern voice rang through the courtyard.

Every child straightened at once.

An elder stood at the entrance, his eyes moving from the laughing children to Lin Jun’s frozen feet.

It was Lin Feng.

He had been passing by when he heard the commotion.

He hadn’t expected to find a little boy trapped in ice, and Lin Xian’er standing nearby looking entirely pleased with herself.

Lin Feng rubbed his forehead.

"Explain."

Lin Xian’er turned around with an innocent smile.

"Grandpa Lin Feng!"

"Don’t ’Grandpa Lin Feng’ me. Why is Lin Jun stuck to the ground?"

She pointed at the boy.

"He wants to become my follower."

"I do not!" Lin Jun protested.

Lin Feng looked at him.

Then at Lin Xian’er.

"Is that so?"

Lin Jun shook his head hard.

"She froze my feet because I refused!"

Lin Xian’er gasped.

"You’re making it sound terrible!"

"Because it is terrible!"

"I only froze the ground!"

"Under my feet!"

Lin Feng closed his eyes for a moment.

He had heard enough.

With a small wave of his hand, the frost around Lin Jun’s shoes vanished.

Lin Jun stumbled backward, caught his balance, and hurried behind Lin Tian.

Lin Xian’er watched him go.

"See? Now you’ve lost your chance to be my follower."

Lin Jun stared at her.

"I never wanted to!"

"That’s what you say now."

Lin Feng bent down and picked Lin Xian’er up before she could start another argument.

She kicked her little legs in protest.

"Grandpa Lin Feng! Put me down!"

"Not until we have a little talk."

"I didn’t do anything wrong!"

Lin Feng started toward the main residence.

Lin Xian’er stretched both arms toward the courtyard.

"Lin Xin! Lin Wan’er! Lin Shiyu! Tell him I didn’t do anything wrong!"

The triplets suddenly found the sky, the ground, and a nearby tree extremely interesting.

None of them answered.

Lin Xian’er stared at them in betrayal.

"You three are terrible!"

"Of course," Lin Xin called after her. "We’re terrible. But at least our feet aren’t frozen."

The courtyard burst into laughter again.

Lin Xian’er puffed out her cheeks.

She would remember this.

All of them would regret abandoning her.

Probably.

---

By the time Lin Feng reached Lin Hao’s residence, Lin Xian’er had already started preparing her defense.

She had explained at least three times that Lin Jun had been rude, that she had only taught him a lesson, and that nobody was seriously hurt.

Lin Feng listened without interrupting.

Somehow, that made her more nervous.

When they went in, Lin Hao was relaxing in his usual seat with a cup of tea.

He looked up and saw Lin Feng carrying a little girl who was wriggling like a fish.

His eyebrows rose.

"What’s going on?"

Lin Feng stopped in front of him.

"Ancestor, this little devil has caused trouble again!"

Lin Xian’er immediately stopped struggling.

She stretched both arms toward Lin Hao, her face transforming into the sweetest expression she could manage.

"My sweet Grandpa! I didn’t do anything wrong!"

Lin Hao looked at Lin Feng.

Then at the little girl in his arms.

Lin Feng’s stern face said one thing.

Lin Xian’er’s innocent face said another.

For a moment, Lin Hao just stared at them.

Then he burst out laughing.

"Hahaha! What did this little troublemaker do this time?"
