Chapter 1492: Traces of bloodline

Chapter 1492: Traces of bloodline

Though he was confused, it wasn’t as if he was completely lost.

Since they were afraid of Gramr, there was only a single thing that could have caused this.

Even though they were spirit beasts that didn’t seem to have any connection to dragons, they should have some kind of connection if they were feeling this instinct to run.

In fact, it might even be related to their bloodline with how intense their reactions were.

"The crocodile I can understand, but what about the others? Why would they have a single trace of dragon bloodline in them?" That was the question that filled Lin Fan’s mind as he put away Gramr and looked at the status screens.

However, it didn’t seem like there was anything related to dragons on those status screens.

Their bloodlines were clearly written, so it wasn’t as if there were any mistakes there.

As far as the status screen was concerned, it didn’t seem like they had a single trace of dragon blood in them.

Only the reaction that came from the Ten Kings wasn’t something that was faked.

It was obvious that they had felt the natural and powerful suppression effect that Gramr had against dragons. So there had to be something that was related to dragons that was inside of them.

"The female elder seemed to care about the True Dragon egg very much, so does that mean that some of that rubbed off on the other spirit beasts here?"

No, that didn’t seem right either.

If there was anything that changed, then it would have been in the form of the female elder giving them power related to the dragons. So there had to be some kind of change in the spirit beasts here if that was the case.

Thinking about this, Lin Fan pulled out Gramr once more.

The Ten Kings looked like they were about to cry when they saw Gramr come out again, but Lin Fan said something that they didn’t expect.

"Come at me."

The Ten Kings were caught off guard when they heard this before looking at each other as if they didn’t know what they were supposed to do.

Even if Lin Fan said this, there was still the Love Gauge Taming that was affecting them and suppressing that urge to attack Lin Fan. So even if they were to follow this order, it wasn’t as if they would actually use all of their power against him.

But of course, that wasn’t what Lin Fan wanted.

That was why the Ten Kings just had no idea what they were supposed to do now.

"You go first."

That was the gist of how they were looking at each other as they all tried to get the others to go first.

Lin Fan naturally saw how they were acting, so he said, "Stop thinking too much and just come at me. Or do you think that I won’t be able to stop you?"

As he said this, Lin Fan even raised Gramr as if he was threatening them.

With the suppression effect that Gramr had on the Ten Kings, it did stir something inside of them. They felt a bit better knowing that Lin Fan had this weapon to protect himself while at the same time, their instincts were telling them to destroy Gramr.

So that was why the strongest among them was the first to act.

This lion was hesitant at first, but eventually it stirred up flames all around itself and charged like a giant fireball at Lin Fan.

Lin Fan didn’t panic when he saw this, he just calmly gripped Gramr and slashed upwards with it.

The moment that Gramr was slashed, there was this wave of wind that negated all of the flames that the lion had gathered around itself.

This wasn’t a normal kind of negation, it was as if there was something about the flames that made it the natural enemy of these flames. And by that, it meant that the flames were especially weak against Gramr.

"So there’s something related to the dragons imbued into the flames around this lion. If it wasn’t for that, there’s no way that Gramr would have such a strong effect against them."

The lion had been caught off guard because its flames had been negated like this, but it wasn’t as if this alone also negated the force that it had been charging with. So even if the flames disappeared, the lion was still charging at Lin Fan.

That was when the second effect of Gramr came into play.

Gramr was still swinging through the air, which meant that there was a clash between Gramr and the lion that was flying forward.

However, the moment that Gramr made contact with the lion...

"Ah, it burns!"

The lion immediately pushed itself away from the sword that had made contact with it.

Not only that, there seemed to be smoke that was coming from where the sword had made contact with the lion. It was as if there was something that was being purified because of this brief moment of contact.

Once the lion was certain that it was safe, it looked at Lin Fan with an even more terrified look. Even though Lin Fan was technically weaker because his cultivation was lower, it seemed like the lion didn’t dare look down on him.

At this, the other members of the Ten Kings felt relieved that they hadn’t been the ones that went forward.

Only Lin Fan still said, "Come on, stop wasting time."

There were bitter looks that appeared on the faces of the Ten Kings, but it wasn’t as if they could just ignore this order.

At the same time, it would be a lie to say that they weren’t curious about the reaction that the lion had when it made contact with Gramr.

The way that the smoke appeared, it really wasn’t normal at all.

They wanted to see if the same thing would happen to them if they made contact with Gramr.

In the end, it was proven that there was the same attribute to them.

Once any of them made contact with Gramr, the same thing happened where there was something that was being purified in them. At the same time, the suppression that Gramr released was enough to blow away any kind of attack that they used.

"So it seems like the dragon bloodline isn’t a part of them, but it has been infused into them. They don’t have the dragon bloodline, but they do have the natural aura that a dragon would have when it uses attacks."

Thinking of this, Lin Fan couldn’t help thinking of a concept from his past life.

"Dragon Blood Warriors..."

Though in this case, it wasn’t as if they were warriors that bathed in dragon blood. These were spirit beasts that had been infused with dragon blood and took the power of the dragon bloodline into themselves.

However, it really didn’t feel like this was something that the spirit beasts of this place were able to do on their own. This kind of thing would require a steady supply of pure dragon blood to begin with and it wasn’t as if they would be able to hunt that many dragons in this forest.

So the only possible explanation was that the Dao Sect had done something to them.

It also made more sense that the Dao Sect would segment all this land just to raise these spirit beasts.

Thinking of this, Lin Fan turned around and walked into the Minor World without a word.

Once he was in the Minor World, all of the spirit beasts that he had tamed from this forest were all gathered in front of him. But because Lin Fan had stepped into the Minor World with Gramr in hand, it caused all of them to move away from him instinctively.

All of the spirit beasts that were here looked at Lin Fan with fearful looks.

Or it was better to say that they were looking at Gramr that he was holding with fearful looks.

Though the strange thing was that they didn’t seem to have the same kind of fear that the Ten Kings had. It wasn’t the kind of fear that came from instinct, but more because it was something that posed a threat to them.

It seemed like whatever they had wasn’t as concentrated as what the Ten Kings had.

But from this, Lin Fan was able to figure out what the female elder had done in this place.

"They used dragon blood to make the spirit beasts of this place stronger. Whether it was through their ancestors which passed the traits to them or they directly experimented on them."

Looking at the spirit beasts in front of them, Lin Fan thought that it was the former rather than the latter.

For the Ten Kings, it would be the latter.

But for these spirit beasts, it was clear that they had only inherited this power from their ancestors which were the first generation experiments. That was why they didn’t feel the pressure as much as the Ten Kings did.

"But this kind of process isn’t something that one can do just by bathing in dragon blood..."

No matter how Lin Fan thought about it, it really seemed like this was some kind of direct modification. Or else it really wouldn’t explain how the flames had dragon aura in them.

The more that he thought about it, it was as if there was something that was slowly making a connection.

After all, it really seemed like that was the only way that they could have made this modification.
